What irritates your sleeve?
- Surgery this morning and feeling great!
I think with the extreme anxiety we feel beforehand becomes such a relief afterwards that we realize we feel much better than we anticipated- Am I doomed to fail? Is the sleeve right for me?
With the sleeve, I think you will just feel less hungry vs restriction. So you will actually feel full instead of having to stop eating because you are restricted. I've read a lot of posts on here from people that stopped losing with the band and were able to lose more with the sleeve. Good luck to you!- Feel like I can eat A LOT!
What CowgirlJane said is what happened to me with the band. I knew that 2 bites of a meal was not enough so I would take that "small meal" and finish it- even if it took me 90 minutes which started my " grazing phase"- Hair Loss...it's kind of unsettling
How long were you on the liquid pre-op diet for?- How old are/were you?
52- DISGUSTED WITH FOOD
That's what I had to do in restaurants with my lapband!! The only problem was I had to order a meal that would make a good leftover so I used to order a lot of Pasta. Not sure what I'll be doing now- its too early to know what I can tolerate- Funny story for today
Ha ha. Here's another one- 8 days post op I went to get a haircut. While in the chair, a guy in the salon was offering my hairdresser a truffle from a box of chocolates. He's holding the box next to my head, then pulls out the candy chart and has it in front of my face. I was like - WTF? Then he offered me one and I kept declining and he kept getting me to try one. I finally told him why I was declining and he was so sweet - looked shocked and said " you don't look heavy enough to need weight loss surgery"- Crackers
I used to snack on cheese & crackers all the time before surgery. I haven't craved it yet but I'm only 2 weeks post op. I can't imagine fitting that snack in right now- I'm still trying to get my meals in- Thunder thighs.
Those of us that do carry our weight in our lower half do tend to lose weight slower than those that carry most of their weight in their belly's- Surgery on 2/23 and sick
Start taking NyQuil at night- Funny story for today
I couldn't help but laugh. I put it away for now, will open when I have company on a future date. Can't re-gift because she wrote my name on the wrapper lol. She did buy "dark chocolate candies " to be healthier.- Funny story for today
So I received a "get well" present from an old co- worker while I'm home recovering from revision surgery from band to sleeve. It was a box of chocolates!! I figured you all would get a laugh out of this one. Oh - she did know about the revision surgery also- Australia - Premier protein shake
Also - I stumbled on an Atkins at Walmart - Mocha Latte that is delicious!!- Australia - Premier protein shake
I would think all Costco carries it. If yours doesn't, google it and locate what stores near you have it. I've been drinking them since 2008 -when I got the band. Now I'm sleeved and still like them!- What irritates your sleeve?
Have you tried cutting up strawberries and making them in jello? That's what I had to do with my band and dim going to try it with the sleeve. Not for another month or so- What irritates your sleeve?
I was under the impression that re: eggs & tuna, that's the normal amount for how much you can eat the first year- Sleeve vs. band
I'm shocked to see my surgeons old office has a commercial advertising the lapband surgery. They are saying " if you have 30 pounds or more to lose ..."- What to wear in hospital? What feels best?
In the hospital it's just their gown. I brought a robe but never needed it.- What irritates your sleeve?
I can eat about a 1/2 can. I've had New England Clam Chowder and Vegetable Soup. I bought a Seafood Bisque but haven't tried it yet. I thought the clam chowder went down better than the vegetable. I'll try to buy Progresso Light soups . I also bought Lentl but haven't tried it yet- What irritates your sleeve?
I have noticed that whenever I try something new- I can only take a couple of spoonfuls the first time and the next time I eat it I'm able to digest a lot more- What irritates your sleeve?
Still haven't tried "food" yet but I'm having different soups. Have you tried them? Try a vegetable or Lentl soup. Maybe those will do better with your sleeve- Thunder thighs.
I'm hoping if I lose some weight the Plantar Facitis will get better or I'll be crushed. I had gotten into a routine of going to the track from March- Nov to walk on the weekends and it's going to kill me if I can't do that anymore. I might talk to my PCP about getting a cortisone shot- Thunder thighs.
I also carry my weight in my hips, ass, thighs and calves. I used to walk a lot but I've developed plantar facitis in my left heel and walking aggravates it. I recently joined a gym - I'm only 2 weeks post op. I finally went yesterday - did 30 minutes on the treadmill and then my heel got agrivated!! I like the Cybex arc trainer- I tried the stairclimber & elliptical and was wiped out after 5 minutes- Nights in hospital
My doctor told me to plan on 2 nights because mine was revision surgery but I went home the next day because I felt fine - Surgery this morning and feeling great!
