  1. Thanks for the replies and for cheering me on. I am pretty sure this is the last tool that will help me to a healthier, and hopefully, longer life. Lets all keep in touch and update each other on how we are doing!!
  2. They taste good and you get 15 proteins for each shake and only 95 calories.
  3. Hi there, I'm getting banded Apr 23rd. Excited and scared at the same time. Wish me luck!!! And thanks for all the comfort and info! Yvonne:thumbup:
  4. I am excited but a little afraid that I would be one of the unlucky ones who have complications or even worse, don't lose any weight. I have a great Doctor, Dr. Barry Sanchez, who has a proven success history. I have only lost 15 lbs pre surgery as I broke a foot in February and have not been very active. I'm moving around now even though I am still in my boot and I can use my eliptical and health rider with that on. I am usually pretty positive but I have always had a defeatist attitude when it comes to losing weight. I've been fat for 30 years. I want this so much so I can be healthier and live a long life for my family. Good luck to everyone out there and it is nice to have this backup from you all.
  5. Good luck to all of you who are having the surgery this month. I'm excited but scared of it all and I really hope I can lose this weight finally with this last tool to help me.:biggrin2::thumbs_up:
  6. Hi, my name is Yvonne and I live in the San Francisco bay area. I'm 55, down to 233 from 246 pre-op and I'm really excited to get this done. I've been fighting obesity for 30 years (my absolute high weight was in 2000 when I hit 290) though I lost 40 lbs slowly in the last 7 years I have not been under 230 since 1978. I figured my weight was not a problem since I was pretty healthy otherwise until the last year and suddenly i have several health issues to deal with that could give me problems later on or even kill me way too soon. I know this isn't a miracle cure but I feel the only problem I have is portion control as I am eating all the right foods, mostly. I'll keep posting here and keep in touch. Thanks for all the great feedback and useful information. Yvonne
  7. Not that I have a sweet tooth but I was wondering if is just because of the calories or because the body is sensitive to it afterward or we can never eat any sugar ever again. I am just waiting for insurance approval now and the doc said I may have surgery next month in April. I can't wait to get banded. I love this site and I'm getting so much good info.
  8. Hello, I went to Medifast.com and got their shakes since I had tried their diet before. the shakes are good with several flavors and they each have 15 grams of Protein and only 90 calories. Just mix them with water and you are good. I will be having my surgery next month. Good luck, Yvonne
  9. I am due to have my lapband done by Dr Sanchez next week. I know 2 people who have used him and had no problems at all. Also, I spent the time in their waiting room in Burlingame speaking to people who had had surgery and only heard good things. Good luck to you. Yvonne
  10. Hi Lucy, I'm new here too. I will be having my lapband surgery in Apr so I am still in the progress of getting my initial consultations out of the way. Go to Tickerfactory.com. Good luck Yvonne
  11. Hello there, I am Yvonne and I live the San Francisco bay area. I'm 5'4" and 246 lbs. I have had my first consultation with my surgeon, Dr Barry Sanchez, and I've met with my nutritionist. Have appts set up with my reg Dr to get blood work set up and with a psychologist. I go see the surgeon again on Feb 21st. I'm excited about having the lapband surgery but a little scared. Its helped alot to read about others experiences. My aunt died having BGP about 5 years ago but I am not worried about that happening with me. I'll be on here from now on frequently so get in touch some time. Ciao, Yvonne
