  1. Hey everyone, Myself and my wife(she's banded also but prefers anonymity) recently started our own business. We make sea salt scrubs, lotions, soaps etc. We have twins age 4 and we both work full time jobs. Any veteran's of business ventures with spouses have tips, tricks or thoughts on dealing with the challenges couples like this face? From things like making time for each other, dealing with the stresses/headaches or any other words of wisdom. We also like to deal with small family owned business and home made products(weary of big corporate monstrosities). Would like to hear from/support other LBT'rs in their ventures. Here is our link Untitled please share yours.

    Drinking and the band

I've encountered a weird situation. First off, I rarely drank before being banded so I don't have incredible tolerance. However, since I've been banded my tolerance seems to be nonexistent. About 3 months after I was banded I went to a concert with some friends of mine. I had about 3-4 beers and boom I went from zero to hammered in no time at all. I never got that kind of reaction pre-banding and it hit me in such a way that I didn't realise I was drunk and had a couple more while the realization set in. The worst part was I ate some sort of roadkill chicken from a vendor there and a couple hours later when I got home I started dry heaving from the bad food/alcohol combo. It was a terrible experience and I thought I slipped my band. Needless to say there hasn't been much alcohol at all in my life since that incident, not that I miss it, but it was really scary.
  3. That's insanity. It just sheds light on the discrimination against heavy people. I feel it and have felt it like most of you have in your lives. What's next? Do they force us into concentration camps to get thin? feed us with slingshots through a chain link fence? And knowing the nature of our society it won't end there, once you can discriminate against a body type you open a floodgate of possible discriminations. "sorry, you are too ugly to shop in our store, you are making our beautiful customers feel uncomfortable" sorry, but that irritates me:cursing:

    Whee!

I just recently started posting here on LBT, but technically I started in the 100+ category. I'm happy to be down in the 50-100's 7 more lbs. and I can "graduate" to the next level!

    Overwhelmed by amount to lose

Just keep your chin up and your eyes on your goals. I started last July feeling the same way as you. After I got adjusted mentally and physically to the new lifestyle, I started working out regularly and eating right and the pounds really melted away.

How do you determine goal weight?

I figured that I haven't been 200 lbs since I was in 9th grade, I graduated weighing 294 lbs. I brought this up to my doctor and he thought 200 would be a very reasonable goal, he didn't think I should shoot for the bmi chart "what I should be" weight range of 160ish. He seemed to think that with my level of muscle mass and bone structure I would have to literally starve myself to reach those objectives. At my last check up I clocked in with 175ish lbs of lean mass by their measuring device, so if I get enough protein to keep lean muscle there isn't any way I'm going to hit 160. That confirmed my thinking of hitting 200 with more lean mass and ditching mostly fat.
  7. Greetings MightyQ, Good luck on your upcoming surgery. I'm not much of a golfer, but after taking off about 80lbs everything in my life has improved and im sure your handicap will too. Knee pain..gone. Foot pain..getting there. Being able to chase my kids round...finally.
  8. Hi all, I am new to this forum. I have lurked here for a while and I finally got to a point where I felt I should introduce myself and post some progress pics. I have put in alot of hard work over the last six months, but I have a long way to go yet. Everyone here has impressed me with their progress and I hope to inspire others. I haven't gotten the signature thing worked out yet, or the ticker's, but I am down 76lbs and 18% bf since July 4th. And I hope I did the attachments correctly, I apologize if I didn't.
