    10 day pre-op liquid diet

Okay my doctor requires you to do 10 days pre-op liquid diet. I am on day 4...my surgery is scheduled for next Thursday at 7am. I AM SO HUNGRY I could put salt and ketchup on the dog and eat her! I never really noticed how many fast food commercials were on TV...but now it seems it's all I hear and see. Any suggestions? I am so tired of sugar free Jello, Sugar Free Fudgicles, Soup broth, Crystal Light, Diet Coke and Light Yogurt. (SIGH...I want a cheesburger SOOOO bad)
  2. The Glasgow team is awesome both Adam and Arthur! You are with the best! I also have BCBS and was fully paid for ...except....my co-pay for the Hospital and the Phsych eval with Dr. Newman which was $250. The Glasgows will get all your documentation to BCBS and you will be fine! GOOD LUCK on your journey!

    Does it hurt?

I can tell you it is uncomfortable but not very painful. I did not use pain meds and I was fine with Liquid Tylenol. When I first started walking after surgery I felt like I needed to hold my stomach, and repositioning myself in bed was a chore....but to say it was a very painful even I would say not ..of course that is for me. Bottom line is if I had to do it again tomorrow I would do it with no fears at all.
  4. You are right where you are suppose to be - don't rush it! Also remember since you are on full liquids the full sensation is not the same now as it will be once you are on solids and have some fills. Right now your belly is swollen which makes the band tight, and of course you are sore! Take it easy, relax and take this time to set up some minnie goals for yourself. Maybe like tomorrow your goal is to walk for 15 minutes and maybe by weeks end your goal can be to get in some ztra fluids.....set yourself up for success and you will do well!

ahhh you are Golden with BCBS - that is what I have and got approved within 24 to 48 hours! The physch eval is nothing to be worried about - Dr. Newman is very nice older man...you will get a packet in the mail with a bunch of questions to answer (circle in answer type) and then you will go in to meet him - he goes over the info very briefly and then just asks you some open ended questions.....what was your childhood like, do you hae a support system, what type of eating habits do you have, etc. there is a $275 charge for that visit (I am 99% sure that is the cost). What time is your appt on the 26th? I have a follow up appt with Adam on the 26th at 11am. lol yes small world (you being in Attle too)

The first consultation consists of meeting with Adam ir Arthur. Go over the band a bit more, take your weight, height, picture (smile), and go over the process with you. He will then give you a checklist of things you need to do: Sleep Study at Norwood Hosp, Nutritionist Appt at Norwood Hosp., Lab paperwork for bloodwork, Letter from your primary care Doc saying surgery is ok, Phsych eval with Physch across the street from Norwood Hosp.. Once you have completed all that, you then meet with the doc again -he goes over all the results with you, then sends paperwork to your insurance company and if you have an Insurance that approves quickly (he will tell you that) you are about 2 weeks or so away from surgery at that point. Then a few days before surgery you will go back to Norwood hosp to get EKG, meet with Anesthesia team. Who do you have for health insurance?

  12. :confused:Hi everyone.... I was banded just a couple days aon (2/28/08).....I got on the scale today and it scares me! I did my 10 days pre-op liquid and lost about 11lbs from that. Now as I step on the scale it is giving me those 11 lbs back. Could this be from the gas they fill you up with or something...any thoughts? similar experience? Thanks Kim
  13. Okay I am being banded tomorrow morning...my doc requires a 10 day pre-op liquid only diet. BUT...ummmmm I cheated....was with my daughter at the hospital (she has the Flu) and without even realizing it I ate a bag of chips. Am I in trouble? Is the doc gonna open me up see chips and not do it? OH MY....stressed a lil........

Hi Everyone....just looking to express my fears...I am trying to be honest and openminded and up front with all my fears during this process! I started this process back in September - sleep study, counseling, blood work, seminar, nutritionist...ya know..the whole 9 yards. The Doc that is doing my surgery (Dr. Glasgow) who I love - he is so down to earth and helpful - his entire staff is....wel he requires 10 days pre-op of liquids...so my last Supper is Feb 15th and I am scared.......also scared for the liquids post op......what if I cant do it? How hard is it? I need some success stories for inspiration......so please share share share..... I am 37.....5'1" and weigh 226.....is Lapband the right choice? should I have gone the bypass route? I have been so mentally ready for this and I guess as the time gets coser I am scared and fearful it wont work.....so please be my inspiration and share your hope with me. PS I live in Attleboro MA

Has anyone used Dr. Glasgow in Norwood??

Hi Everyone! My name is Kim and I am going for my prr-op appointment with Dr. Adam Glasgow on Wednesday January 30th and am very excited. I first saw him back in September and have finished my sleep Study, Appointment with the Nutritionist, got my letter from my Doctor and did my blood work. What can I expect at the pre-op? How far am I from surgery? I was referred to Dr. Glasgow's office from a friend who was banded by him. She always says such great things about him and his staff......
