  1. Just wondering, I mean in the states people can just post one message saying "Hey did any of you have this doctor?" But here I've only found one other person that's had lap band surgery with my doctor, I know it doesnt have anything to do with his capabilities but it'd be nice to know there are others that have had the same surgeon if you know what I mean.
  2. I know what your talking about, go to woolies, they usually have a health section and everytime i go i notice they have things like optislim in the soups, it might just be the woolies where i am but im pretty sure it's not
  3. I had a appointment with my doctor last thursday and he rang the surgeon cuz it was taking forever and I've got a consultation with the surgeon next week, I'm actually pretty worried as I won't be paying for any of it (the public hospital will) and I'm worried they'll deny me, but about the sleep study? I'll most likely have to have one because I have lung problems (not to do with my weight) I guess it just depends overall on how well the person is and if they have any underlying health issues
  4. Ahh you look so good, you look around the same weight I was at 15, wish the option was there at that age for me
  5. I know what you all mean, I personally will not be telling certain people, like my whole family (except me) is friends with another family, my older sister went to school with the older sister and i went to school with the younger sister - the younger sister has been big ever since I've known her and the older one is now just stacking on the weight although she "claims" that her clothes are shrinking lmfao and I know if I told them they would get extremely jealous and probably stop talking to me (not that I'd complain lol) but if I did tell them I know they would tell others, it just depends on how well you know/think you know the person
  6. If you have a small frame why get it dont? Wow you look pregnant woop dee doo, 100% of the people here were or are overweight and there unhappy with that not just because they look pregnant, are you even serious about this? you don't sound overweight at all
  7. Thanks I appreciate the comments, I know I won't be in as much pain as when I had a lung biopsy but still some pain and as I think I've said I'm a slow healer so it'll be a while for me to get back on my feet, appreciate all you replying and what does DD stand for? Thanks
  8. I've had surgery before - 2 lung biopsies, bone marrow taken and a bronchoscopy(sp?) although it's not really surgery. And I was just wondering if anyone was ever worried, panicky, extremely stressed about there surgery? I never have been the only thing that worries me is recovery - I take ages to recover, it took me about 2 months to get over my last lung biopsy and stop taking the pain meds, I know that the lap band won't be the same as that but I was just wondering how everyones experiences were with it?
  9. Well I haven't actually seen my surgeon yet, I still need a referral which is taking forrrrever but once I see him my surgery will probably within a month or so of seeing him, I've never really known what foods are high in protein just the foods that are high in fat, so thanks to you and everyone else that replied, I'll have to look it up now, can't live on chicken and eggwhites forever after surgery lol (although I could easily do that =P)
  10. I highly doubt it, fish is a high source of Omega 3 and even though it does have a portion of fat it's good fat unlike whether you eat a burger from macdonalds, just make sure that its filletted properly and if it is the flakes are small enough to eat with your vegies
  11. I read everywhere that after the band you should eat the protein first but does anyone know any websites were I can find out which particular foods are protein? I mean I only know 2 and I think there probably wrong - Egg whites and chicken. I eat salads and vegetables with dinner almost everynight so I know I have at least something healthy but which foods are protein? Thanks
  12. They say not to buy but what happens when your underwear are sliding down your ankles cuz there too big? lol. I agree with what the second person said take clothes in or you could always go somewhere like the op shop, they usually have some nice stuff that has either never been worn or has only been worn once, that way you only pay roughly $10 on an outfit and then when your finished you can take it back and have someone else buy it I suppose. It'll definetly save you on money as well
  13. I know exactly what you mean which is why I dont plan on telling most people, the only one that will know are my mum, dad and 2 sisters mainly for the sole fact that we have a family that we're "friends" with "" meaning my sister is friends with them and I 'm not nice to them whatsoever anyway theres one daughter and she's always been not thin but not huge either with big boobs and I remember one day she said to my sister "has sarah put on weight cuz her arms are getting bigger" well pot boiling the kettle black cuz now she is huge (almost bigger than me) and her sister who is the same age as me is bigger than me, they kind of criticize alot of what i do as well but I figure once I get the band I will not be telling them crap, they have been rude, arrogant and downright pig headed about everything i do, and I know that if I told them they would be the same as everyone says about there family/friends "oh why cant you just eat healthier and go to the gym" actually I eat healthier than anyone I know, I eat vegetables or salad with dinner everysingle night and when I see them eat it's usually followed up with 2 cans of coke or something, just try to find out who your real friends are, either there asking you to eat healthier because they genuinely care for you and dont want you to get in any health trouble or there bitches, it's up to you to decide which one they are.
  14. It's already in the Lapband FAQ's and queries forum
  15. Ever thought that maybe your surgeon is one of the better ones and he's booked completely? most surgeons that do the gastric banding don't just rely on that for there pay check, the doctor I'm going with does numerous other surgeries and I wouldnt expect to be banded within a year but I'm a speciality case which means I will most likely only be waiting for 3 months. It just depends on there surgeries and which are more important, lap band is not as important as say heart surgery, know what I mean?
  16. Probably putting this in the wrong spot but oh well. Does it annoy you when all the people on this site there obviously big/ or have been and they weight what 150-200kgs or more and they have the lap band and then they loose weight and they have maybe 10 kgs to loose to there goal weight and there not happy? This just annoys me alot, if you have gotten the lapband it is obviously because you have either lost weight and couldnt keep it off or you couldnt loose weight and then you read about people that say "Oh I'm totally pissed, I've only lost 5kgs, I really wish it was more" I mean you've never lost that much in one go so why in the hell are you complaining? Frankly I havent had the band yet but I know for a fact that I'm going to be exstatic when I have lost 10-20 or even 40 kgs, I'm not going to be pissed off if I've only lost 5kgs cuz I've never lost that much weight at one time. Does anyone see what I'm getting at? Also yes you would be frustrated as you do want to loose that little amount of weight but really why get so pissy about it?
  17. It could be, I've heard of the americans go on about it saying that it's better than all the rest, if only it was available here
  18. Well you just wrote that he said you had the small AP band so obviously you have the small band, if you had the larger band he would have said "You have the 14cc AP band that is larger" Correct?
  19. Eh I'm 19 but I turn 20 this month =( guess no more teen forum for me lol and I'm from australia
  20. I know exactly what you mean, I'm not banded yet either but I have a great solution for when I do loose this weight. I've been in hospital last year so for me it's a great "cover" story if you will, I was on steroids to help my breathing and anyone that has been in hospital and has had them will know that when you take them you tend to put on weight, I haven't put on heaps maybe 10 kgs or so (22ish lbs I think) and all I'm going to say when they ask is "Well I was on steroids and my doctor said I could come off them and because they make you gain weight I've just started excercising and the weight is actually falling off me pretty quick, and I'm starting to eat heaps of vegetables and salad(I do already)" So you just need to think of agood cover I guess, only my mum knows that I may be having it at the moment as she comes with me to my doc appointments cuz I tend to sit there and go off with the fairies lol but I plan on telling only my father and sisters, when I know for sure that I'm getting it, the night before I go on the liquid diet I plan on going out for "one last good meal" if you will to a restaurant or whatever and telling my sisters and then my dad when he comes over, I know that they won't tell (hopefully) and if they do I'll make it perfectly clear that I will never be able to trust them again. I hope it works out ok for you Edit** I told my mum my "theory" or whatever and she was just like y eah I dont think people are going to believe you lol so I was just like uhh well wtf fine then lol but she said you could always tell people you stopped eating bread cuz technically that's true, I know a friend of my sisters did that and she was pretty big about 150kg - probably 300 or more lbs and she lost alot of weight so say that as well, people have no right to know what happened to you unless you feel like telling them
  21. I'm not banded yet but I was in hospital last year through june to august and having the food there definetly helped me loose weight, when I came home instead of using our normal plates for dinner I made everyone change to the bread & butter plates, that's in aus to so I'd say there about the size of (how to explain it? lol) maybe ok this will sound strange but like 2 80gb ipods (classic model) next to each other and thats the kind of sized plate we use, it's pretty good as we 6/7 nights a week we have salad or vegetables, most of the time I fill up my plate with vegetables or salad and I never have room for meat, you just have to look around, or what you could do and what would be cheaper than replacing an entire crockery set you could get the paper plates for like parties, the small ones, they would definetly work
  22. I'm in australia and america has a extremely higher risk of obesity compaired to australia so to me that doesn't make sense that australia does more bands but when I go to see my surgeon I'll definetly be asking what kind of band he puts in.
  23. Thanks I appreciate you replying to this thread, I did ask a stupid question a while back like if during the mushie stage you could have weetbix like when you add the hot Water lol stupid but another lady said that you can just not to add to much sugar or milk which is good =)
  24. Well I've been told numerous times that I'm a speciality case, I'm big but not the biggest person ever, I'm 115kg and luckily for me it's not just on my stomach it's everywhere so I look balanced and not as big, because of stuff that' will happen in my future, I will msot likely be looking at a lung transplant my doctors want me in top shape so that I have a good survival rate, I have been told by 2 doctors that within 3 months I'll most likely be banded but seeing as though I actually havent got my referral to the surgeon yet I'm guessing possibly around July, The hospital I go to there trying to get lapband approved for the state or whatever and have that specific hospital able to do it, at the royal brisbane hospital the waiting list is about 2-3 years so I know what you mean but the hospital I go to they dont routinely do it, although the doctor I will be having has done hundreds which is great so all I need is to be referred to the surgeon and that'll start the ball rolling I suppose :biggrin2:
  25. Actually I am being banded as a public patient, and my doctor has told me that she is going to write to the board of doctors and ask for my case to be approved, so basically I'll be a specialty case as I need to loose weight for future stuff that will be coming up that will give me a better chance at life
