  1. Hi everyone, how are you all doing with your weight loss and eating new foods? Since the day I walked into my surgeon's office I've lost about 22lbs but 17 since the surgery. I just starting eating blended, mashed foods this week and I guess I'm doing ok. I have noticed with certain foods that I get an uncomfortable pain in my chest (probably esophagus). Have you all experienced this? I'm hoping this will go away. .....soon.:/
  2. Hi those of you that have started the blended pureed food already. I get to start this Sunday. I was wondering. ...I know I can have scrambled eggs but do you have to put them in the blender too? How have you all been eating your eggs?
  3. PrettyCali, How are you doing eating real food? Are you not having to mash/puree everything? I'm looking forward to it. I can't even eat mashed/blended food until this Sunday
  4. Hi All, I just got back from my post op and had my staples removed. What a relief! I was hoping I could move to soft foods like some of you are but my doctor said definitely no. I'm still on phase 2 until 2/21. They were very adamant about not having anything with "lumps, bumps or clumps". I told them that had watered down mashed potatoes last night and they said that was a phase 3 food and that my stomach isn't ready for that texture yet, that pieces of the potatoes even fine can get stuck in your staples causing an infection or absess. It's crazy how so many doctors are different. I'm usally able to get down about (2)1-cup shakes in a day along with about a cup of creamed soup or broth. Good luck to all! I envy those of you who can have real food this next week
  5. Hi Everyone, glad to hear some people are having some of the same issues I'm having. I'm also having a hard time swallowing especially cold shakes. It's kind of frustrating because the shakes have the most protein and it's hard for me to drink. I know I'm not getting all of the calories and protein I need. I've lost about 18 lbs since my original weight. I go to my post op tomorrow hopefully I get cleared to move on to soft foods.
  6. I went to work for a little while this past Friday but I felt terrible. I was nauseated and still sore around my incisions. I'm feeling better but I'm taking today off. I'll try to go back tomorrow. Are you all still on your pain meds? I've been trying to ween off of them so I can drive but my stomach is still pretty sore.
  7. Yes, I did gave the hiatal hernia and I'm taking the medicine that's supposed to be for spasms and the hiccups. I guess it helps a little. I just hope this feeling goes away soon because it's very annoying. Did they tell you how long this would last? I go to my 1st post op on Thursday, I'll ask them about this and how long it should last. I'm having a fairly good day today. Hope all of you are doing good too:)
  8. Are any of you having problems swallowing? I feel pain in my chest everytime I swallow. I didn't have this problem the first few days, I really just noticed it starting yesterday.
  9. I did pretty good yesterday. I was able to drink 2 1/2 shakes and a sf popcicle. But today when I got up, I felt terrible. Very nauseated and light headed. I've only been able to drink 1/2 of a shake today. Still. Very sore around my abdomen, especially around the largest incision, the pain goes all the way around to my back. Hope all of you are doing well

    My Texas Sleevers

I'm from Denton TX. I just had my surgery this past Monday 2/1
  12. I'm feeling better everyday. I'm still pretty sore on my left side where the biggest incision is. Having gas pains too but the gasx strip seem to help. I will try a shake today. Also, is anyone having dreams about eating real food? I keep dreaming that I'm eating regular food and then realize I'm going to mess up my stomach. Then I wake up and realize it was a dream. :/
  13. They gave me a blood thinner injection right before the surgery but they didn't send me home with them. I'm finally able to keep a little broth and a sugar free popcile down. Getting and feeling better everyday. I'm just real sore on my left side where the largest incision was. I've also ben having the gas pains in my chest area and bloated feeling in my stomach. I'm taking the gasx strip that disovle on your tongue. They seem to be working good. Hope all is well with everyone.
  14. Do any of you have a weird taste coming up from your stomach?
  15. I got Tramodal too because I'm also allergic to every thing else. Only the where my incisions are is a little soar. I'm not sore everywhere. I was intubated also but it seems like my throat isn't sore this morning. I'm still only able to sip on water and crystal light. I'm going to try to sip some broth today hopefully I'll be able to hold it down. I hope all of you have help when you go home. My husband has been able to stay with me at these past couple of days. I don't know how I would have gotten along without him.
  16. I had hyital repair aslo. I'm glad to hear everyone seems to being good. I wish I could have stayed in the hospital later because I would probably still be on the intravenous meds. All they sent me home with for pain is Tramodal...really doesn't help much, just makes me sleepy. My incision areas are very soar. They said all I'm experiencing is normal......but it seems like you all aren't going through the same pain as me.
  17. I came home last night after my surgery but I'm in terrible pain and very nauseated. Everytime I take a sip I want to through up. What kind of pain mess are you all taking?
  18. I'm having the gastric sleeve.
  19. Good luck to everyone tomorrow! I'm looking forward to hearing about everyone's experience in the next couple of days. I'm nervous because it sounds like everyone else is going to be in the hospital at least overnight to a couple of days and I'm only scheduled for day surgery.....
  20. Is everyone's surgery just a day surgery? Mine is, supposed to start surgery about 10am and they said I should be going home about 6pm. Just wondering if this is the same for everyone.
  21. Hi all, I'm scheduled for 2/1 also. Ready for Monday! I'm 5'2" started at 225 but am down to 215 with this liquid diet. I look forward to keeping I touch with all of you and making this journey together
  22. I feel the same. I'm scheduled for 2/1 also. The first 2-3 days were the hardest for me but it seems to be better now. I'm adding sugar free flavored syrups to my shakes and they really taste good. I've had headaches too but I think it's from caffeine withdraw. My doctor is allowing me to have a cup or two a day and it seems to help. Good luck to you! Hope all goes well!
  23. Hi, I'm scheduled for Monday 2/1. I'm super excited too. Good luck to you! Hope all goes well
  24. Hi Frankenstein, sorry it's been so hard for you but think about the end result. I'm scheduled for my surgery on 2/1 and have been on my pre op diet for 5 days now. I feel like it's been torture but I just keep thinking of how I will feel after this. Everyone I know that has had the sleeve have had great results and are living pretty happy normal lives now. You said you have daughters, I'm sure you want to be healthy and be there for them. I know this is hard but try to stay strong. You can do this! We can do this:)
