I feel like I have done too much research already - read too many reviews, visited too many websites, sent too many emails. And now I'm confused! What I know for sure: - I will be going to Mexico for the surgery - I'm looking to have the surgery in mid March - My spouse will be coming with me - I would prefer recovery at a hotel and not a "recovery house" - Cost is not the huge factor as they are all similarly priced Now I'm wondering if anyone used the following Dr's and can provide any raving reviews or "don't do it's!" - Dr Ramos Kelly - Dr alejandro lopez - Dr Ponce de leon Thanks in advance!

During your hospital nights where did your spouse stay?

Hi Lisa, how did everything go? I am considering Dr Lopez as well.

I think I will be going with him in Tijuana. I spoke with someone tonight who previously used him and had a fantastic experience. Raved about how clean the hospital was, how well taken care of she was and how she had absolutely now issues and was back to work in less then a week. I think that made my mind up for me ....I had been debating a few different doctors before tonight.

An egd test will tell you if you have one. Your insurance will pay for that surgery which will make the WLS much cheaper because they do both at the same time. I am in Canada and we have a very different system so unfortunately that won't apply to me

@@NikkiDoc - Thank you as well. If you don't have GERD, is there an easy way to have one? Or do you just tell them to fix it while they are in there and there happens to be one?

@@Sajijoma and @@Miss Mac - great info, thank you! I eat spinach like crazy and take 3-4x the regular dose of an Iron supplement as well as 2000mgs a day of B12. Both are still very low but slowly inching up.

Sorry, I should have provided more information to clarify. I have seen numerous specialists over the last few years, none of which can provide answers regarding why I have anemia and low B12 despite the fact I have been supplementing both for years. My question is if anyone else already had these issues prior to surgery and how they were handled. Thanks!

Hello (so many questions from me! *blush*) I have been anemic for years. B12 deficient too. My Drs feel it's pernicious anemia. Was anyone else this way before a bypass surgery? I know Iron can be an issue after so that worries me.

That might be the worst part for sure. My husband will be able to eat all the yummy foods and I won't! I really don't want to wait until July to have the surgery though. I'd like to get started on the "new me" sooner!

Hello everyone, I am seriously considering moving forward with a surgery this spring. I am wondering if anyone has traveled a few months after their surgery and how it went? I'd consider scheduling a surgery for late March/early April but am concerned about a 10 day trip my husband and I have planned to London (from Canada) in mid June. Would this be a concern? I should be back to eating "regular" foods by this point (although seriously less of them).

Hello fellow Canadians, Has anyone had their surgery in a previous tax year and claimed the expenses on your tax return? Can you share any information on how this worked and if the benefit back was reasonable (without sharing any personal details of course)? Thanks!

Thanks for the reply @@JamieLogical ! I'm not sure if I prefer a hospital or clinic .I guess I am open to both. In regards to budget, I will take a top doctor over saving a few hundred dollars, so that's not really a factor in my decision. I don't need a lot of contact ahead of time as long as I feel the Dr has all my information and I know what I need to do. I don't care for videos of surgerys (weak stomach!) lol I think aftercare contact would be great, especially the first few months. But these boards also appear to have a ton of great information. I'd like someone who has strong stats as well as great personal reviews. How did you find your experience and surgeon?
