Hello,I am Yankitexan68, I.am living in San Antonio.Moved from upstate New York last Feb.Family gave me the name.I had been living in Rochester New York for many years.I am originally from Houston .I am a Clinical Social worker by trade. In June had to have colon surgery unexpectedly.Doctor talked to me about "my size"as a surgery risk. The surgery went great but it cut through the last of the denial as to how bad things had gotten in regards to my weight.A friend who had had the surgery suggested it 4 years ago.I did the research but was still dragging my feet.
When I recovered from my colon surgery(diverticulitis) I decided to pursue the sleeve. Got in touch with BMI of Texas here in San Antonio. Followed through with their program and had the surgery Jan. 4th 2016.I also had a Hiatal hernia repaired.OUCH! That is what hurt after the surgery.Good news it is doing 100% better and today I am pain free.
I also had to have my gall bladder out before my surgery on Nov.5th. That went really well I had the surgery on Thursday and was back at work on Monday. These guys are really good.
I only told my sisters about my operation. They have been really supportive.
My insurance,Blue Cross Blue Shield Federal approved the operation ,no problems.I think I will pay around 1500 out of pocket. They charged around $ 3,800.
So happy I did it.I was worried I was too old but they take it on a case by case basis.I am looking forward to being more active and enjoying good health in my retirement years.
This forum is great.I seem to have developed an intolerance for the protein shakes so i have enjoyed reading the suggestions posted. Best wishes to all.
