  1. They told me about the hair loss, I researched the hair loss online, but the feeling of pulling out 15-20 hairs at a time is not a fun one! Hoping this ends as fast as it started haha. I am, however, down 42 lbs since surgery, 60 lbs since the start of this whole process. And I have tons of energy. I also didn't get any of the complications I've heard of others getting. So if hair loss is my biggest obstacle, I can deal with that. But it is not fun.
  2. Do any of you feel like the rate of hair loss is unsustainable, and you will be bald if it keeps going the way it is going? My hair is noticeably falling out in large quantities, and it's only been a couple of weeks...if it keeps going the way it is going, I'm sure to be bald! Literally, I'm losing probably 300-400 hairs per day.

    3 months update

I'm almost 3 months too (I'm 11 weeks), and I am down 57 pounds since the start of this, and 40 pounds since my surgery date. I just came out of a pretty rough three week stall, but I appear to have come out of it. I was stuck at 202 for so long, and I'm finally in ONEderland. I haven't been at this weight since middle school! 40 more pounds to go to reach my goal! Starting Weight: 250 Surgery Weight: 233 Current Weight: 193
  4. My date is set, February 6th . I'm looking for surgery buddies. I'm 28 and I live in California - Sacramento area. I'm very excited!
  5. Had my surgery yesterday, got out of the hospital earlier today, and I feel pretty good, oddly. Walking around with no problems, hardly using pain killers, passing gas (sorry if that's tmi), handling my liquids. I can't complain about this part, but I'm worried re-introducing food will be trying. We will see. Congrats to you all!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  6. I'm 2 days post op, and I'm wondering if I really had the surgery lol. I feel fine, some mild pain, but I only took my Tylenol 3 this morning, and I have some gas discomfort, which is relieving itself, and some slight discomfort getting up and down off the couch and out of bed. I've been drinking liquids non stop while I'm awake, I've had no problems getting those down. Anyone else experience this? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  7. Yay! We are all SO close! I felt like it would never come, but it's gone by very quickly since I met with the Psych. I'm with Kaiser South Sacramento, and I go in tomorrow for my pre-op class and to meet with my surgeon for the final review before surgery. I'm down 20 lbs from my starting weight (I was told to lose 10), and I am feeling great already. Can't wait to start this new chapter in my life. Good luck to all of you!

    Psych eval ?

They just asked about my support system, why I'm doing the surgery, and if I have anything that will prevent me from benefiting from surgery - like a sleep eating issue.
  9. I saw the psychologist today and have been cleared for surgery. Next step is to hear from the nurse regarding testing I'll have to do, and once I get the results back from that (about a week), they'll schedule me an appointment to set my surgery date! They said surgeries are scheduled about 3 weeks out at the moment, so that means I'm 6 weeks away or so, depending on how fast I get all of my testing done. I couldn't be more excited. I wasn't sure about this for a while, I started this process back in February. But after my boyfriend dumped me due to his severe depression, and realizing how much he dragged me down into depression with him, I have been feeling much better, and have been taking this change very seriously. I'm ready to better myself and put myself first. I can't wait to have this tool to help me do so.
  10. Hey guys, the next step in my progress is to schedule a psychologist (psychiatrist? Not sure of the difference) appointment. I am just curious what they ask, and what they are looking for when they speak to you. I'm with the Kaiser South Sacramento program, so any specifics on this particular program are greatly appreciated. Thanks!
  11. I just did the intro class for the weight loss surgery program, and requested to be formally referred to the program. In reading these forums, it appears everyone has a different path to surgery. I would like to know what everyone's requirements were for surgery (i.e. how much weight you had to lose, what tests you had to get done, etc.), how long was the process, and did you have concerns over the risk factors involved?
  12. I went to my first surgeon appointment, and got my goals for surgery. I am very excited. I went to the orientation on 2/6/16 I had the meeting with my surgeon today 2/24/26 I have my nutrition class on 3/17/16 I have my support group on 3/9/16 I have an appointment with the OB on 2/29/16 And I was told I need to lose 10 lbs minimum, but ideally 25 lbs would be considered "knocking it out of the park." And finally, I'm due to a TB shot, it's been 10 years. I'm hoping to have my habits in order and my weight loss goals met by 3/17 so I can meet with the psychologist ASAP and get my surgery scheduled. Anyone have any tips? Anyone else currently in the South Sac program? I could use a support buddy :-) .
  13. That's so exciting! You're so close. How was the program for you? Which surgeon did you get? And how did you lose the required weight pre-surgery?
  14. I'm not quite there yet. I have my orientation class on February 4th, and from what I've read I'll get to schedule my appointment with the surgeon then. I have lots of questions that I'm hoping to have answered next week! What was your assignment amount of weight to lose for surgery?
