  1. I've been trying to get my barbaric multi vitamin and chalky calcium chewable down with hit and miss success. Some days I can handle one but not the other no matter how long in between I wait. They are so disgusting to chew I sometimes gag on them and throw them up. Any suggestions other than trying another brand. When can we swallow a regular vitamin?

    Can't handle the vitamins

Thanks everyone for the feedback, they are good ideas. It kind of makes me made not to finish these since they cost me so much but I know I need the vitamins and calcium. I'm going to look into the patch idea.
  3. I did go home the same day when my band was removed only.

    Losing slowly

Maybe it's because some of the band people have already lost a lot of weight with the band and then they had the sleeve with only a little weight to go...
  5. Yes the liquid stage sucks. I only did clear liquids 2 days before surgery and then 2 weeks on liquids and then 4 weeks of purée or soft food. At 6 weeks i will be moving to normal diet.
  6. I had my band removed because it slipped and the doctor could not fix it. I had a lot of scar tissue also. I did not choose to get the sleeve until 2 years after.
  7. I had my sleeve removed because it slipped, but I didn't want the sleeve at that time. He said I had a lot of scar tissue and should wait about a year for it to heal. Two years later I finally got sleeved on 12/14/15. So far I don't have any real big problems. I had some nausea at the hospital but not vomiting or anything else. My pain was minimal.....it was worse when I had the lap band. The worst part now is the 1 month diet of liquid and purée. I get a lot of head hunger all the time!!!
  8. Keep us posted on your progress. I can not wait to have the band removed from all the vomiting. So far I'm doing pretty good, I only had 24 lbs to lose so I'm losing slower than most. I've lost 14 lbs so far since 12/14/15. No vomiting at all with the sleeve. The first month of eating liquid and soft food sucks!! I start on normal food in about a week and a half, can't wait!!
  9. Keep us posted on your progress. I can not wait to have the band removed from all the vomiting.
  10. I have Kaiser so not sure if my story is going to be the same for other insurances. I did not have my lap band put on by Kaiser at that time I had another insurance group. I got down to my goal weight. But I did have Kaiser remove my lap band 2 years ago do to slippage. Kaiser doesn't believe in the lap band so they wouldn't put another one on, they will only do sleeve or bypass surgery. I went back 2 years later on 12/14/15 to got my sleeve. I only gained back 15 pounds so my bmi was not that high. They said that I would automatically qualify because it is still considered revision surgery and I was starting to gain weight back. I didn't do any classes, pre diet, no psych evaluation, or anything.....I just had to do 2 days before surgery on a clear liquid diet. I did of course pay my deductible but that was it.
  11. I lost 90 pounds with my lap band.....it slipped so I had it removed and 2 years later I started to gain weight back, so I just got the sleeve on 12/14/15. I've lost 14 lbs so far but I only have 24lbs total to lose.
  12. When you can cross your legs comfortably instead of them being crossed at the knees and your leg keeps falling off your other leg!!

    One Week Out!

I would try ice chips and watered down Gatorade. Use the 2 oz medicine cups or Dixie cups so it doesn't seems overwhelming to your wife. Try a variety of protein shake flavors so it's not like the same thing day in and day out.

    Having second thoughts....

I too had second thoughts about my sleeve. The more I read the more I was confused and unsure about making the right decision. I just keep coming back to feeling like if I didn't do this then what. I knew I would keep gaining weight and feeling like I should have taken the chance to be thin and happy. I had my surgery on December 14th and so far I have felt everything from happiness to sadness . I have read that it is normal to have these feelings at first. I will feel better about my decision once I can really eat normal food. But! There is nothing better than seeing the weight come off and your body looking good!! Take a chance on yourself, I don't think u will regret it.
  15. Ok I will try to use a smaller plate. I do find that I overeat before my stomach realizes that I'm full then I have a stomach ache many times. I think I need to pay attention to my portions and making sure I get in enough protein. I've been feeling dizzy lately and I'm not sure what is causing it.

    One Week Out!

Yes I guess that was it. I did finally drop another 4 pounds so I'm happy about that.
  17. Hello.....my weight loss journey started 5 years ago when I got a lap band. I did really well with the band and lost 90 pounds. I got to within 10 lbs of my goal weight but those ten pounds wouldn't budge. I struggled with vomiting almost 1 meal a day, But I was happy and would do anything to be thin. Then one day I couldn't eat not even half of my small amount of food. I went to the doctors to find out what was wrong with me. I got an X-ray which confirmed that my band had slipped to the middle of my stomach. I had another surgery to try to fix it or remove it. Unfortunately the doctor couldn't fix it so it was removed. I was very worried that my weight would come back. At first I kept the weight off saying to myself that "I had learned how to stay thin". But a year later the weight started to creep back on. So 2 years later I decided to get the sleeve. My surgery was December 14th this year. Although I don't have a lot of weight to lose it is a struggle or maybe even more of a struggle since I have so little to lose. I sometimes feel like I don't belong since I'm not as big as when I first started. I wish I could meet someone else out there that has a similar story......
  18. Thanks for the encouragement. I have lost 14 lbs so far so that's good. I wish you the best as well in your journey!!
  19. I too had a lap band removal 3 years after being put in due to it slipping. I did not op for the sleeve at the time so I maintained my weight about a year. Problem is I was so happy to be able to eat normal again that I started to gain weight the next year. I only gained 15 pounds, but I was afraid that all the weight would come back on. So on December 14th this year I got sleeved. Although I don't have much too lose it is still hard to have so much restriction. It is a different feeling then the lap band. No more vomiting at almost every meal. Now I just get the full feel in my stomach very fast and if I don't stop I feel a stomach ache. You will like the sleeve more the lap band I promise you!
  20. I think believing in my sleeve is the missing piece right now.....I felt that way about my lap band and it did work. I just thought I wouldn't feel hungry right now and so limited, especially this time of year. Do u feel full when u start to really eat or is it just a mind of matter?
  21. Thanks for the encouragement.....I hope you are right....I want those stubborn pounds to be gone for good!! What do u eat now on a typical day?
  22. Wow you look great and happy.....its good to hear from someone that went from band to sleeve and is happy about the decision. I too had a lap band removed and was sleeved just on December 14th, 2015. So I am not too far out but I am still questioning my decision as I am still on the mushy foods stage. Hopefully I will have a happy ending too.

    December 15th sleevers

I was sleeved on December 14th......I always feel hungry too. I think some of its head hunger and some of it is me wanting to eat like I usually do. So I usually try to drink more of my protein shake to feel full.
