  1. I was banded in September, 2007. I have had great success but I have also been sick quite often this year. I was just wondering if anyone else seems to have had any of this. I know there is a lot out there, my family has all had something or another for months. BUT , I usually do not get this much. I have had colds, worse allergies and just sick all the time. Mostly cold type things. I was wondering if this maybe due to some vitamins or something I amnot getting enough of. Just had this thought today and figured I may need to have the Dr do some blood work. Any thoughts? Thanks Peg:confused::smile::confused::wink:
  2. Is there specific essential oils that you have used?
  3. HI, yes I do take a multi vitamin and some other supplements also. I did also get a flu shot. It is very possible it is just coincidental, but thought I would see. Thanks Peg
  4. You absolutely have no need to beat your self up..God knows other do it for us. However, making this decision was avery difficult one for me and for all of us. I tried many times, no not as hard as I should have and I never exercised as much as I should have, but I looked at it as if I could have done all of that then I never would have gotten to the point I did. The band will not work alone. You will still be able to eat almost anything you want to. WE are the ones who will still need to be in control of what we eat. I guess I did it the opposite way and I told everyone I was having the surgery. They are all really helpful, there is of course those who don't think it was necessary but to be honest not the people that are freinds or care about me would ever say anything negatively to me. They are ll so happy I have taken the step and will do whatever they can to help . Most were very worried about me at the weight I was at and the health problems I was having. So are glad Ihave had it. You will be to, I know we like to think we do not care what others think, but we do in many ways. So do not let anyone bother you and just stick to your decision of what you know was the right one for you. And Go For It!!!!!!!!! Good luck
  5. My Dr says no carbonation. However some people in the group have been able to tolerate it with no problems. Lots of sugar alos. But I have never been a big soad drinker anyways, BUT what I have founf that is great is the flavored waters or now I love the K20 water packets. They are protein flavored waters. I do not like the bottles, they are to sweet, but the packets I love. I put them in a larger bottle of water and this then makes it not so sweet. Hope this helps.
  6. I have to take it small steps at a time. I plan to be living with it for a long time also, sure hope so anyways. The thing that keeps me sane or semi sane is that I know how much better I will fee, physically and mentally and how much better I will look. Mentally in many ways is the more difficult part . But when those days start to get me I think of all the things that will so drastically change once I have lost the weight. The stares will stop, the teasing and comments. All those things most of us have dealt with for so so many years. So that is how I keep it together. I still need to really listen to those and push myself into the exerecise. I am so bad at keeping to any type of exercise routines or commitments. Hey if I was good at it, I never would have gotten in this position. You will do great, you have already proven your strength by making the decision to have the surgery. Support from others has helped me a lot.
  7. You will do great. Once you have made the decision, one of the hardest steps has been achieved. It is natural to be scared,I would be shocked if you weren't. You will be in capable hands and when you wake up will know you have started a new chapter in your life. I have only been banded since 9/21/07 and it was the best thing I have done. I need to push myself to exercise, I still lack that umph, but do not regret the decision. I started at 383 pounds and am down to 342...so much more to go. But trying to take it one day at a time. I always say if I could do it anyone can. Keep us posted on your success.

    They Just Don't Understand

I do understand part of what you feel. Except the opposite. My husband is in great shape and gorgeous..yes to me and others think so to. But I am the one who is and always has been fat. So that part I understand. He has totally supported me through this. I did not have to go on a liquid diet beforehand. I could not give you any suggestions there. I know I honestly had difficulty with the fedays after surgery. I just got sick of some of the drinks. I did not want to taste chocolate again. (LOL) However, I did find what helped was making sure that I had a variety of different kinds of drinks and was also able to make them into shakes in the blender or bullet. This helped a lot with change of pace and consistency. I think that you will be hungry prior to surgery, but be sure you have Protein powder in the drinks and that will help keep you feeling full much longer. Best of luck. Peg

    HI I am new

Hi, my name is peg. I was banded on September 21, 2007 by Dr. Fialio at Baystate in Massachusetts. I have lost around 40/45 pounds. I do not have an accurate scale so I will not know for sure until I go back to the Dr on the 23. Overall my experience has not been bad, I have had a lot more foods getting stuck since my last fill and yet at times am still hungry. So I am thinking that I do need another fill and just have to be careful what I eat and to remember to eat slowly and chew chew chew. One of my big problems as before is still the motivation and umph to exercise. I just wish I had someone kicking me in the butt everyday and making me go and exercise. Oh well, just wanted to say Hi as I am just learning of this site. Peg
