  1. @@summerset Happy to help!
  2. Clicking from an email or app notification should take you directly to the post that was liked - at least mine always do. On the full site, however, 'like' notifications have 3 links, as indicated by caps below, though simply highlighted blue in the actual notification (photo attached for reference): USERNAME liked a POST YOU MADE in THREAD NAME. The first is the name of the person who liked your post. Clicking here will send you to their profile. Not what you want. The second is where you want to click. This will send you to the point in the thread where your post was liked. The last link will just send you to the start of the thread, and you'll have to fish through the whole thing to find what was liked. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  3. I'm pretty sure that a Snickers bar WILL undo a sleeve. I know this from my extensive experience with the pouch I've had for 4 months. Because they're, like, basically the same thing. The peanuts will get caught in the sleeve and remain lodged there until a chemical reaction from the chocolate causes them to swell and separate the staple line. Trust me - I'm a scientist. Or at least I took a few classes in high school. Even showed up a few times a week! Actually...you know what? F*ck it, give me some of that Snickers. Just make it the peanut butter variety. I read somewhere that peanut butter cancels out the chemical reaction of the chocolate. True story! And for those who are easily triggered, yes, this WAS a joke. Though I'm told that I'm not good at being funny. And I'm probably too tired to be funny. Yeah...I'm going to bed now.
  4. People! Specifically stupid, rude, self-absorbed people. Like those who run into other stupid, rude, self-absorbed people they know. Naturally they then decide to take over somewhere relatively confined (aisle, entrance, hallway, road, whatever) to exchange their stupidity while being rude to everyone around them because they're too self-absorbed to realize they're IN THE F*CKING WAY!!! Stop forcing everyone else to take an alternate aisle/walk around you/clear their throat/honk just so you can catch up with someone you probably just saw yesterday! Take it somewhere more appropriate, you a$$holes!
  5. IF this is a genuine question - as opposed to yet another excuse to suggest...ahem...adult activities - then yes, suckers are as 'dangerous' as straws. Sucking on anything (yes, yes...) will cause the production of excess saliva, which will in turn cause you to swallow. And as previously discussed, swallowing anything in any way will introduce air into your stomach. Hence a sucker is no different from a straw is no different from a bite of chicken is no different from a sip from a glass of Water. Swallowing = air. Period. Next!
  6. @@LipstickLady @@Dub NOW who needs the padded white rubber room...
  7. The First Annual "Straws are Good" Awareness Benefit. Or the end of a 10 year long vacation. One of the two... But probably the former!
  8. Let me know if you need some company. I've got nothing going on until Monday. My pouch makes me feel so damn special in the midst of all of you cool sleevers! I hope I'm not stretching it by drinking this Jones Zilch vanilla Bean soda. From the bottle. With a straw.
  9. Yes, thank you. Oh the fun that could be had in a padded room...
  10. I believe 'good' is winning in this particular thread. As it should be. So you chose the wrong side. Don't do it again.
  11. Oh come on. We all know you like it when I stalk you. You're not fooling anyone.
  12. Throw in some cheese and arse and you'll never ever leave...
  13. I never sleep. At least not well. And typically not when @@KindaFamiliar does. But HE never wakes ME up when I'M missing all the fun, so why should I do HIM any favors...
  14. Thank you! Maybe I SHOULD be a scientist...
  15. You keep your nose out of our business. You had your chance! You chose to break up with him over avocado. Vodka with pineapple?! My favorite! We should be friends. I don't think @@KindaFamiliar had anything anyway. He just wanted to reference a bunch of girls to get some attention.
  16. I don't know how clever I am, and I certainly have no degrees in the field of science, but I do believe I can help to explain a thing or two... First off, when a straw is immersed in liquid, it is only filled with said liquid to the same level that the vessel containing it is. As straws typically extend above the vessel - and therefore above the liquid line - that excess amount of straw is filled with air. So if you have a 10 inch straw sitting in 6 inches of liquid, the other 4 inches would contain air. The theory in argument is whether or not that extra air in the straw is an issue when sucked and swallowed. Minds out of the gutter, boys... The thing is that no matter what you take in your mouth, unless you are completely filling it to capacity, there will always be extra space in there that is filled with air that you will then swallow along with whatever you're consuming. This is true of both food and drink, whether that drink uses a straw or not. Even if you just swallow saliva, you're still taking in air with it. There is simply no way around it. And as it is impossible to swallow anything without taking air along with it anyway, according to my surgeon and others capable of processing reasonable logic, whether or not a straw is used in entirely inconsequential.
  17. @@KindaFamiliar Ooh, 'inappropriateness', huh? Well now I'm intrigued...
  18. Anything that facilitates the meeting of different people will leave drama in it's wake. This is especially true of online forums where people can 'hide' behind a computer and not actually have to face the sh*t they stir up. We all just have to absorb what we need, leave whatever we can give, and ignore what we don't like. Utopias do not exist.
  19. I knew there was a reason I liked you! Well, that and you're all awesome and sh*t. But mostly that... Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  20. I do this all the time. And it makes me giggle. Because I'm childish like that!
  21. I do let mine deflate a bit before partaking. Certainly not to the point of 'flatness' because, as @@LipstickLady so eloquently explained...gross! I just crack it open for either an hour in a glass or two hours in the bottle/can to let it settle down a bit. And I will admit it: last weekend was the first time I did not air out my Pellegrino before diving in, and I was left uncomfortable for the evening. Very, very uncomfortable.
  22. *Enter random person on the internet* Straws are good! DISCLAIMER: my surgeon approves of course
  23. Luckily for you, I do love to cook. Took you long enough! I debated over whether or not to like this post. In the end I decided that your new mornings sound like a downgrade from your old ones, and so I did not.
  24. I've always had a particular weakness for spaghetti alla carbonara. Now when I crave it I soft boil a couple of eggs, leaving nice, runny yolks. Then I split them on a plate and top with a strip of chopped bacon, some minced and sautéed onion and garlic, shavings of parmigiano reggiano, and of course heaps of fresh ground black pepper. Works for me!
  25. I ended up at a chinese restaurant for an impromtu dinner. I opted for steamed shrimp and broccoli with lemon sauce on the side. And I may or may not have eaten half of an egg roll. After a decade of sub-par egg rolls from crappy North Dakota chinese restaurants I needed a good one, dammit!
