  1. i had my lap band surgery in mexicali also. i live in southern minnesota and go to park nicollet in st louis park. they will see patients that didn't have their surgery at park. the cost is $150 for office call and an additional $70 for the fill.
  2. i have a 4cc band and currently have 2.0. i was up to 2.2 but had to have an unfill. i am very tight at 2.0. i think you will get restriction soon.
  3. so how long did it take to feel more comfortable? I am 9 days out from my last fill and had pureed chicken and gravy last night with no difficulty and yogurt this am, but tried a few bites of a soft hot dog and chewed well, but it didnt go. thats when I posted here for answers
  4. I need some words of encouragement. I have not lost much weight, except for the liquid stage after surgery. I had second fill a week ago, and it is too tight. I have been on liquids and soft, and cant eat much at all. I am trying to work with the tight fill, thinking that it will improve. am I correct in thinking that the tight fill will get better in a few days to a week vs going for an unfill? Of course, I have lost 2# in the last week since I am not eating much. also, is their really a sweet spot where I can eat most foods without pain or PBing, and still lose weight? I eat very healthy but difficult to maintain good nutrition on a liquid/soft diet. currently, after my second fill, I get pain after a few bites, and then the painful hiccups start. I can only eat about 1/2 cup of food at a meal. I am taking lots of chewable vitamins to supplement. If I eat more than 1/2 cup, I PB. REassure me!!!
  5. cosmos I just wanted to add that I started this thread, and have since traveled to mexicali for the surgery. I am a nurse, and thought thru all of the pros and cons listed. I ended up needing a hiatal hernia repair, and had to stay an additional day on IV fluids, because I was so tight and I couldn't get liquids down. I did not pay another dime for the hernia surgery or the extra day in the hospital. do you think that would've happened in the US? Now, I really wanted to have my insurance pay a portion of the hiatal hernia surgery, but I could not get Dr A to do an itemized statement for me. I have to live with that, since I went to Mexico. I do believe that you have to be careful when traveling out of the US. don't select any surgeon that has had problems with complications. choose a reputable Dr.
  6. I started this original thread when I was researching. since then, I went to Dr Aceves in Mexicali and had lap band on 3/31/08. It was a great experience, very professional. YOu will not regret it. If you want to email me personally to be sure that I am not a paid employee, my email address is djpfeilsticker@q.com
  7. I was banded by Dr Aceves on 3/31. I am a nurse and spent a lot of time on the chat site reading the comments. I was amazed at the excellent care and I would go again. I wish I was closer to mexicali so I could afford to go their for fills also. you will NOT regret going to Dr Aceves. good luck with your journey.
  8. sistergirl, where do you have your fills?
  9. I'm looking for others who have gone to Mexico for surgery. I will have my fills at Park Nicollet. surgery is 3/31/08 with Dr Aceves. excited and scared:rolleyes2:
  10. I have recently begun my research to determine where I want to have my lap band surgery in Mexico. It is the only way that I can afford it. I have read good reviews on Dr Aceves and Rumbault. would like your opinion and other surgeons that have a good record. I need to also be able to fill in MINNESOTA.
