  3. My surgeon said it is likely some nerve pain. He gave me some more pain meds and recommended trying cold or warm compresses. He said it will go away. He definitely was not worried. Let me know what your surgeon says.
  4. I started this journey when I lived in Dover, NH. During the process I bought a house in Springvale, ME. I had my surgery at Portsmouth Hospital. I think of myself as living on the NH seacoast...although I obviously do not. :-)

  6. My surgery was 6/27. I have pain in the same area. It's a burning sensation and gets very intense when i lean forward or sit up straight. Seeing surgeon today. It's a bummer because otherwise I feel great.
  7. Hello, I had my surgery on 6/27. All seems to be going pretty well. Most of my pain has gone. But...I have this pain on the left side of my belly...it is an intense burning that goes away when I lay down. It gets very intense, even with meds, when I lean forward and especailly if I am leaning forward to pick something up or to wipe myself. But it is strong enough that it is hard to concentrate on anything even if I am just sitting up straight? Has anyone else experienced anything like this? This has been gettting a little worse each day for the last three or four days. Other than that I feel pretty terrific. I have my follow up with my surgeon today. But any thoughts or experience are definitely appreciated.

  10. I started at 419 back in October 2015 when I started this journey. Had RNY surgery on Monday 6/27 and weighed in at 388. Long, long, way to go. But I'm feeling good.

  14. @@stsch06 I had my surgery on Monday. I felt and thought all of things you are feeling. This IS a very big decision. It's about the rest of my life. How could it not be as big of a decision as any decision I will ever make? At my last surgeon appointment, I asked him how often people just don't show up on surgery day...he said that it had never happened with one of his patients. I asked that question because I was still filled with fear and questions even a week before the surgery. In the end, what kept me moving forward was the knowledge that I have tried and failed to lose significant weight enough times that I know I couldn't have lost a significant amount of weight and kept it off long term - I had to listen to my own experience and the reality of a 5%-7% dieting success rate. The most important thing that kept me putting one foot in front of the other was the inspiration of a renewed life - all the things I can't do now but will be able to do a year from now... Run a 5k, ride on a roller coaster, fly on a plane to visit friends, sit on a folding chair without anxiety, go to games and concerts without worrying, TRAVEL to other countries and so many more... So now I am on the very first steps of the other side of that decision...and I have already have not doubt that I made the right decision for me. Good luck. Stay mindful and be kind to yourself. Listen to and acknowledge your thoughts and feeling. Remember that just because you think a thought doesn't mean that thought is true. It's just a thought. Oh yeah...and Breathe. :-)
  15. Congratulations! You're on your way. I go home today...good lord willin' and the crick don't rise. :-)
