  1. Isopure is really great, I only like the green apple and grape flavors and they definitely have to be cold.
  2. I'm 7 weeks out from surgery but I have had complications so I am just now starting a clear liquid diet. My dad got me some sugar free hard candies but there are 14g of sugar alcohols. I was wondering if you can still get dumping syndrome from sugar alcohols?

Losing Hope Sleeve Leak 8 mos post op

Hey, I would love to hear your outcome. I am currently dealing with a leak. I caught it a few days after my surgery. I was on antibiotics and a PICC line for 2 weeks at Evergreen hospital and I had 2 drains placed as well. I was transferred to Virginia Mason in Seattle for stent placement but they decided to put two pigtail drains and Botox in my sphincter. 3 weeks later I am still waiting for the hole/leak to heal. I feel like it's never going to end and its extremely frustrating. I also lost my job over this, they notified me last week. I wish you the best and I would love to hear your outcome!
  6. Definitely call your surgeon. That was my biggest sign to go in and they did blood work to find out my white blood cells were very high and I ended up having a leak.
  7. Hey! I live in Washington, I had my sleeve 10/28 at Puget Sound Surgical Center in Edmonds

    Numbness in outer thigh

I also have an issue with my left outside thigh being numb! I thought I was the only one. I noticed it about 4 days post op and I was in the ER and they told me it could just be from laying on their hard beds but I am now almost 7 weeks post op and it's still numb. I'm relieved to know I'm not the one one!

    VSG Leak

Hey everyone, I am a 20 year old VSG patient, I had my surgery on a Monday 10/28. I noticed the first day home that it was extremely difficult for me to take in fluids. I started having gas pain and felt really bloated. My doctors gave me medication to help me with that but it didn't help me at all. I called again and that Friday they had me come in for fluids because they thought I had to be dehydrated. They also did a blood test and found that my white blood cells were very high and was a big enough indication that I needed to go to the hospital for a CT scan. The CT scan showed that I had a leak and 2 pockets of Fluid inside me. They admitted me and gave me antibiotics to see if that would help with the infection. I also had a high resting heart rate that would range between 130 and 140. After another test, it showed that the pockets had grown and the next step would be to put drains into them to drain the fluid. They put one drain in hoping that it was communicating with the other leak so it would drain both. About a week later they put one more drain in to drain the bigger pocket. A couple days after that, they did an Upper GI to see if the contrast I drank would go into the hole and into the pocket and it showed that everything I drank would go into the pocket and not the sleeve. They immediately decided that I needed to be transferred to another hospital so that I could get a stent placed in my esophagus. The doctors at the other hospital ended up placing two internal pig tail stents in the pocket so that they could act as internal drains. They also added botox to my sphincter so that the path to my sleeve was the one of least resistance and added a feeding tube up my nose for nutrition because I had to be NPO. I was released a week after the procedure and has been 2 weeks since release. Since then, I had one external drain pulled and both of my internal drains removed. I am checking in every week doing upper GI tests and the hole and pocket seem to be getting smaller but very slowly. I currently on TPN through my PICC line so that I don't have to take fluid in and slow down the healing process. I feel completely stuck and defeated. My doctors are discussing other options if this hole doesn't heal on it's own. The option they are considering is cutting the hole open more so that it connects to the sleeve but that scares me. I was just wondering what other options are out there and if anyone has any advice. I haven't eaten in over 6 weeks and all I am is nauseated, I need this to be over with.

    Complications....so broken and sadden

Hello, I was wondering how you are doing and how the leak/pocket has healed? I currently am in the middle of dealing with a very similar issue. About 3 days after surgery I had lots of gas pain and felt extremely sick. I eventually went in for some fluids because they thought I was dehydrated but eventually after a CT scan, found a leak that led to two pockets of Fluid. I had two drains placed over the course of 2 weeks and then was tranferred to a different hospital to see if they would put a stent in my esophagus. The gastric surgeon ended up putting two internal pig tail drains in and botox in my sphincter to make the path to the sleeve, the one with least resistance. It has been almost 3 weeks since those internal drains were placed and both have been taken out via endoscopy and one external drain has been removed. I have been going in to get upper GI's every week to see the progress. I am currently on TPN through my PICC line and I am constantly nauseated from an empty stomach. It's been 6 and a half weeks since I have eaten any food and like you, all I can do is cry. I feel so defeated and depressed from the situation as if there is not real solution. I just wanna feel better and this drain stinks really bad. Let me know how you are doing and what solutions surgeons had for you. Thank you
