    Recovery + Time Off Work

I am a nurse, and I took 4 weeks off after surgery as I do a lot of heavy lifting and wanted to take more time to be on the safe side. I am going back to work next week, and honestly I think 2 weeks would have been enough for me. I know alot of people have trouble with fatigue after surgery, but I didn't seem to have this problem. I pretty much feel like myself....just without the appetite! But, I think everyone recovers differently and you have to do what is right for your circumstances.
  2. Hi everyone! I am relatively new to this site, but I have gained so much knowledge from you wonderful people. I was hoping I could get some opinions about a couple things. I had my RNY on 11/9 with a starting weight of 289. As of this morning I was 283.8. I see so many posts on here about these massive drops in weight, and mine is going super slow. Also, I have absolutely no problem getting in fluids. They don't make me feel full, and it doesn't take that long to drink it. As far as food, I eat about 500-600 calories a day (puree stage) and I know I'm done when I just don't want anymore. I guess I am just nervous because I read so many people saying how they can barely eat/drink, and I haven't had that problem at all. But I am worried about my slow loss. I'm not cheating and I'm getting in my Protein and fluids, so I'm really not sure what is going on. Has anybody else experienced anything similar in the early days?

    Slower than I expected

I can't thank you all enough! I was really getting discouraged and feeling like I was doing something wrong. But I know this is a marathon not a sprint and I need to stay patient. I also got my butt back in the gym. It felt good getting active but my endurance dropped a little since its been about 3 weeks since I've gone. I did this to get healthy, and exercise is a big part o that!

    Pre Op Exercise Plan

I was reading your post and I thought to myself....wow this sounds familiar! Then I saw we have the same surgeon! I am scheduled for my RNY next Monday, and I couldn't be more excited! The doctor, nurses, nutritionists have all been so wonderful! When I went to the exercise specialist, she gave me the motivation I needed to really start exercising. I had been losing weight on my own, but had sort of stalled. The same day I met with her, I joined a gym and the weight loss kicked back in. Now I am doing the 2 week pre-op diet, and lost 11 pounds in the first week! We should keep in touch so we can share our experiences with eachother! Good luck!
