  1. I just tried nonfat Greek yogurt mixed with unjury chocolate protein powder. It was really good!
  2. I thought I was the only one with diarrhea. I had my first bout day 2 and 3 after surgery. Now I feel like I have to go and can't. Also felt like my butt was on fire! Also having pain from straining my umbilical hernia repair which is preventing me from straining to poop. Kind of a lose lose for me.
  3. You should really go in depth with your doc and let him know what's going on.
  4. Have you been passing gas at all? You should have already eliminated the surgical gas.
  5. Oh honey, I hate to hear you are going through all that. What are they giving you for nausea?
  6. I started my vitamins today and have had quite a bit of nausea from them. I am hoping this gets better.
  7. I am now 4 days out and it doesn't hurt constantly, usually only after sleeping or with a good bit of movement. I have been watching closely for redness, tenderness and drainage. It was really swollen right after surgery and has went down considerably. It's the incision on my right side and is a little longer than the others. It's also bruised, where the others are not. I'm thinking it's where most of the manual manipulation was done. I've gotta call the doc in the morning anyway. My insurance would only pay for 12 Zofran instead of the 20 that was ordered. I am still having some bouts of nausea at times.
  8. I am now 4 days post on and still having gas pains. I did have a BM yesterday and felt like I had accomplished a great feat lol. I went shopping at Walmart yesterday and was so exhausted I came home and slept for several hours. I get tired easily. I have been using a notebook to keep up with my fluid intake and it seems to work well for me. I make columns for water, protein shakes and other. Every time I drink an ounce I make a tic mark.
  9. I have one incision that burns like it's got a hot poker stuck to it. None of the others do this. Any opinions?
  10. Today has been much better. I've been doing 2 oz. At a time and I have almost reached my fluid and protein goal. I do believe the pain meds are causing heartburn but since I had a hernia repair along with the sleeve I am a little more dependent on them. I am trying to space out the meds as long as possible. And the walking is the best thing ever. And I had my first BM this morning without any issues. It's getting better little by little.
  11. I'm gonna try a different system today to see if it helps. I am already on Protonix. I'm gonna focus on getting my fluids today and try something other than just Protein shakes. I have some
  12. I was sleeved Wednesday as well. I am having a horrible time getting all of my Water and Protein in. The gas pains are horrible and I feel like i have heartburn most all of the time. I can only take 2 ounces at a time before I start feeling "full". I need some opinions on the best way to get in all my protein and water. How long should I wait between the 2 ounces to drink more? And popsicles are my enemy. They make the burning worse.
  13. I was sleeved on 10/28. The put a scalpolamine patch on me and it has helped tremendously. They also did a tap before I came out of surgery. It's basically like a spinal but it affects the nerves in your abdomen. It works miracles. I would suggest it to anyone.
  14. I have some liquid norco. And as far as the pain surgical pain goes, it's not that bad. These darn gas pains are killing me. As I sit here awake, so early in the morning, I am reminded of a song with a slight revision of the lyrics. To the tune of "Gimme Three Steps" by Lynard Skynard. As I sit here in bed, with gas pains so bad. I'm a shakin like a leaf on a tree. Oh gimme three steps, gimme the steps mister, just to pass some and not hurt so bad.
  15. I had the sleeve along with an umbilical hernia repair. I'm not gonna lie and say I'm not in pain. I'm hurting! The nausea hasn't been as bad as I thought it would. I have actually drank quite a bit. Ice chips have been my friend. Should start drinking my protein shake soon and if I can tolerate it then I can go home z!
  16. I am having my sleeve done tomorrow and I am struggling with the clear liquid diet already and it's only 8:50 in the morning. I am so nervous and excited at the same time. Hoping everything goes well.
  17. I'm scheduled on 10/28. Nervous and excited at the same time!
  18. I am scheduled to have my sleeve done on October 26th. Looking for someone who can share insight, whether they are going through it now or have been there and done that.
  19. I have been a nurse for 6 years now. I worked in corrections for 5 years and started working psych a year ago. I have been planning my sleeve since July. I am scheduled for surgery next week. I am excited and nervous at the same time. I have had a couple friends who have had the surgery already and have had phenomenal success. I only hope that I am that successful. Most people I work with already know that I am having the surgery and are saying encouraging words. Doesn't help my nervousness though. I have been researching different recipes and things I can do after the surgery. I'm glad to have found this forum and all these nursing professionals to help along the way.
