  1. Each insurance company has different requirements. Most weight loss surgeons are familiar with the requirements each insurance company has. Have you been referred to a surgeon or gone to an information seminar? What city are you in?
  2. My surgery is January 7th with Dr. Anwar. See him tomorrow to sign consent forms & get final details. Had my pre-op nurses appt. on Nov. 24th
  3. Very sorry to hear you were denied! What insurance do you have? Did they say why they denied the procedure? Is there someone at the surgeon's office that deals with the insurance company? Was it missing information or is your BMI to low? Maybe call your insurance company & see why they denied. Can you file an appeal?
  4. Have you contacted your insurance company? Sometimes that helps motivate them.
  5. I called my insurance at 12:30 to ask if they had received the packet and they said they did have it, and at 1:30 my surgical coordinator emailed me to say that my surgery was approved. I'm guessing that once they had to look at it because I called they just went ahead and approved it. Doesn't hurt to call them and give a little shove! That's what I think too... I have called everyday still pending waiting for review by a nurse. How frustrating for me since everyone has said Aetna is so quick... Looks like not quick for me. I'm hoping they approve today and I can still have my surgery on the 9th. How frustrating for you! I don't have Aetna so I am not familiar with they timeframe. Mine only took a week. I hope it is approved ASAP so you can have it on the 9th.
  6. How did your surgery go? How are you feeling? Who did you go through?
  7. We are neighbors!!! I'm in puyallup too! I'm going through swedish on 12/9! That's great blkbell! I would love to know how things are going for you after your surgery. Yours is coming up quickly. Maybe we could keep in contact. Do you have a lot of support?
  8. I am in Puyallup and have a surgery date of January 7th. Surgery will be through Franciscan in Federal Way. I have my pre-op nurses appt. on Nov 24. I had hoped to have my surgery before the holidays but when it came down to scheduling a date I opted to not be recovering at Christmas but to be able to chase after my Granddaughter who will be 9 months old Christmas Day. I know the holidays will zip by and surgery is just around the corner. Sooo excited!!
  9. I started my pre-op diet Sept 30th. My surgeon wanted me to lose 15 lbs before surgery. I have lost 20 so far. I do ok during the day but still struggle with feeling hungry at night & wanting to snack. I try to make healthy choices in the evenings. I keep thinking about the final goal. My surgery date is January 7th. The more I lose & bring down my BMI it improves my recovery & long term success
  10. Did you decide on a surgeon? Dr. Anwar with Francisian in Federal Way is my surgeon. I have a surgery date of January 7th! Yay! I am so excited!
  11. How did the consult with the other surgeon go? I am in Puyallup & am going through Franciscan Center for Weight Management. My surgery date is January 7th. My Sister had her Sleeve done 3 1/2 years ago through Puget Sound Bariatric in Edmonds.
  12. I have a date!! 1/7/16. Very excited! Opted for a January date instead of December. I too decided I wanted to enjoy Christmas with my son & granddaughter. She will be 9 months old on Christmas Day.
  13. Great on your surgery date. Mine was approved but still waiting to get date. May be a January date.
  14. Keep up the good work on your diet! Spoke to the psychologist today. Passed my psych eval. Yay! One step closer!
  15. I am very sorry about your mom. I lost my husband to cancer 13 months ago. Very difficult watching someone you love die! I gained 20 lbs after his death. I have a a 7 month old granddaughter I want to get healthy & be around a long time for her. I have completed all my tests & just waiting to see cardiologists on 11/6 to get cardiac clearance then request insurance approval. I have almost reached the 15 lbs my surgeon wanted me to lose before surgery. Hope your appt. goes well.
  16. No surgery date yet. Was hoping for December but it may not happen until January.
  17. I have one & love it! It helps me keep on track.
