Newbie - Surgery set for 16th October

I've just come out of my surgery on October 8th. All went very well - apart from just after the op, I've only had a bit of discomfort during the night. Couple of recommendations for hospital - 1. face spray - I got quite flushed and found a bit of moisture really refreshed. I had a green tea spray which also smelled lovely. 2. chap stick 3 bottled Water - the hospital only gave me tap water which smelled like chlorine (might have been extra sensitive to smells after the op) 4. if you're a coffee junkie, arrange for someone to bring you in a decent cup in the morning. It makes you feel so much better having a coffee, if that's what you're used to. 5. Dry mouth spray - I didn't get this but I was wishing I had because I went more than 30 hours without drinking (had the IV fluids but my mouth was horrid) 6. Mouthwash - again, your mouth feels like horrid so it's good to refresh every time you go to the bathroom 7. Soft toilet wipes - just in case you get diarrhoea 8. Your own pillow - anything to make you more comfy 9. Soft t-shirt nighties - you really just want something soft and comfy to wear in bed.

    surgery oct 6th, 2015

Has anyone else had pain in the thigh - like in the muscle? It's probably just where I got an injection while my leg was tensed but it's quite painful. I am five days post op and doing fine. Still a bit of soreness, especially after sitting for a while. I am finding that my taste has changed and I can't stand creamy Soups - so that's taken a bit of adjustment. But on the positive side, I'm liking yoghurt more than before.

Pre and post op liquid stages

I quite liked Optifast shakes but hated the tomato soup. My dietician said to be careful with other products as they weren't necessarily low in Protein and may not give you the full benefits of a Meal Replacement.
