    Surgiversary

Hi I am. I noticed I've put on 3 lbs. & I find myself craving junk food again. Not nearly as bad as before the surgery. I need to meal prep that's when I am feeling more satisfied & not so tempted. I'm so happy to have this weight off I don't ever want to go back there again, but it scares me my mom had gastric bypass surgery & she has regained about 35lbs. from where she should be. It creeps up on you. I think it's smart to weigh your food if that's what you need to do. Maybe try eating more food items throughout the day but make sure they have fewer calories so you don't go above your calorie count. Wishing you the best.
  2. Hi Tera1982 I didn't know we could have cottage cheese at this time. Maybe I misunderstood but I thought it was supposed to be liquids only for 2 weeks. Could the cottage cheese be doing it? If not I would love to eat some cottage cheese @ this time I'm on the liquids only. Protein shakes, jello, yogurt (no chunks of fruit), broth, isopure & strained cream of chicken soup. That has been it for me. Hope you get better soon.

    Feeling blue

I was sleeved last Tuesday. I too had a blue day yesterday...thinking what the heck did I do. I too love food & the great meals with friends & family. I know, as everyone has been saying, I have so many great & amazing everyday things I will look more forward to than any meal could give me. Thank you everyone who posts! I am so grateful to have your encouragement & knowledge! I can't wait to be fit, run a half marathon, ski, & workout daily. I know moods will fluctuate but the future is too bright to stay in the blue for long! Hang in there!!
  4. Hi All Dec 8th sleevers, I had a set back yesterday. I thought I was doing great, but I hadn't had a BM in almost a week. I tried to cut back on pain medicine & started drinking prune juice with no luck. I became fatigued & finally called my doctor so he gave me the ok to take milk of magnesia. I definitely feel better today, but feel like I took a couple of steps backwards. This is a long road, a new way of life.
  5. I have lost 10lbs as of today, this includes the pre-op diet (2 weeks before surgery). I started at 196, then on surgery day 188. Today I'm at 185. I am looking forward to exercising after I heal. I think that will make all the difference.
  6. Did anyone else have a hernia repair at the same time? Having s good day today!

    Water hurts!

Hi All, I was sleeved Tuesday & I am also having that trouble with water. I am drinking Isopure. It counts as water because it's clear but the benefit is that it has 40 gms of protein. I also asked the doctor if I could take a probiotic & he said yes. So I am drinking 1 a day. They are found at costco in the refrigeration dept. After I started taking the probiotic & sips of warm water and turning my torso I was able to move the gas out. I think that the gas pain was worse than the surgery pain. I am feeling much better today.
  8. Hi All, We are doing it!! Today is our big day. Super excited & nervous. I don't know how much pre-op weight I've lost, but I will know soon enough when I check in. Good Luck everyone!! XOXO

    Anthem denied

Hi all, I was denied even after the peer to peer review. My surgeon said my sleep apnea is too mild & I don't weigh enough but he will do it self pay. So I'm digging into my savings & paying it as a cash pay. I am super sad about it but I need to move on. I am hoping with my new found energy & spirit I will make that money up over time. It's lime my surgeon said people spend more money on a car than this surgery. I thought about going to Mexico but my husband & family won't support that. Thanks to everyone for your kind words.
  10. Can we take our chewable vitamins the day before why we are only the clear liquid diet? Are any of you doing clear liquids for 2 days before surgery or just 1 day before?
  11. Hi all, I am 5'2 & my BMI is 35. I too have 55-60 lbs to lose. My surgery date is Tues Dec 8th. I would love to stay in touch. I'm supper nervous but excited. Good luck to everyone.

    Any December Sleever's?

Can you have your chewable vitamins the 2 days before surgery? My date is Dec 8th & I'm supposed to be clear liquid 1 day before surgery date.
  13. Hi Have you heard of isopure? It is a flavored clear liquid that has a lot of protein in it. I have read many sleepers use it to get their protein in. I'm getting my sleeve Tuesday & am getting super scared.
  14. Hi Rking, The only think I can think of is dehydration. I am pre-op my surgery isn't until Tuesday, but I was light headed several times & dehydration was always the first place my doctor went. I have also heard of Gatorade light which has electrolytes. Call your surgeon's office I'm sure they have had this issue before. Congratulations otherwise it sounds like your doing great!
  15. Hi Sharon, Lol I should have my daughter take some pics of me too. (Not naked ones.. lol I'm not that brave) I want to see the transformation like everyone else does & I want to use it as a motivational tool to keep moving forward ... not backwards. I'm so excited. Today I'm drinking all Meal Replacement shakes. Do you know if you can have a little cup of coffee w/ cream in the morning?
  16. Hi All, I'm December 8th too. I would love to have some buddies to share our journeys. I am super nervous, but excited. I have a lower BMI. I'm a business owner & am an emotional & stress eater. I am looking forward to a fuller life filled with energy, family photos, & saying yes to outings with family & friends. I don't have Facebook. Again I would love some buddies. ????

    December 8th

Hi I'm December 8th too & I think doing it cash pay is nothing to feel guilty about! Congrats to you for loving yourself enough to give yourself a healthy & happy future. People spend more money on buying a car. Good luck to us all! ????
  18. Hi All, I'm December 8th as well. ???? I'm not doing so well on the pre-op diet. Tomorrow I'm going to hit it hard. Everyone is so supportive!! I'm super excited.

    Anthem denied

Today I was denied by Anthem Blue Cross. My doctor is going to appeal with a peer to peer review. My doctor's office said they aren't sure if they can complete the whole process on time ( Dec 1st my insurance changes to Blue Shield of CA) my BMI is 35.5 I have sleep apnea normal blood pressure, high risk for diabetes but not diabetic, high cholesterol. They denied me said it wasn't enough to qualify. I'm so devastated. I hadn't been so excited about my future since I can't remember. The doctors office said they rarely have a denial & they never lost an appeal so I'm not confident but still want to hold out for hope. If anyone has any suggestion or experiences that are similar please advise. Thank you

    confused about the approval process

They said my BMI was too low with no comorbidity. I had the sleep apnea but nothing else they considered severe. My doctors office is going to try & appeal it, but my insurance changes to Blue Shield starting Dec 1st. My doctor's office said they aren't confident they can complete the appeal in time. I will need to apply to Blue Shield next & I think they have stricter requirements. I'm not really sure. I'm so devastated! I just don't know what to think or do.

    confused about the approval process

Has anyone been approved by Anthem Blue Cross with a 35 BMI, sleep apnea, high cholesterol, & pre-diabetic? My paperwork was turned in for approval a week ago & I haven't heard back yet. My doctor said he could always appeal it if I'm denied.
