  1. ^___^ I just realized the dates on this thread, so I'm glad you're still around, lol~ I'm not on WoW, I play FFXIV (Of course I do.) And I'm lazy and forgetful. Even when I write it down, I tend to forget when and what's going on lol.
  2. I don't have one. Every program/surgeon is different I think. I'm trying to figure out what to do, because it wasn't required, but my surgeon did say it's recommended. But he only said to eat lean meats and liquids. That's not really much to go on, lol.
  3. Pagan here. Not Wiccan though, I'd call myself...well I don't really know. I'm still figuring all that out. I have a relationship with the Morrighan, as well as Brighid. Oh, and I'm a huge geek, too.
  4. I have none, so maybe not that weird? Mine is nothing after midnight...I guess every doctor/program just has their own preferences.
  5. omg, there are so many May threads! Mine is May 2nd. So nervous, and yet so happy and excited. No pre-op diet for me, but that's not a brag. I'm actually considering doing one because I worry my liver will be large and make surgery more difficult. It's just so hard to convince myself when it's not required, plus I was given on information so I am not so sure what to do. Honestly, the one above doesn't sound so bad. I already have a shake for lunch, and a usually my dinner is low carb.
  6. Any good apps out there for things like Water tracking (something with a timer would be helpful for me). I have an ipad, though it's old and crashes a lot, and a mac. I'd like to update one of them one day but it probably won't happen for awhile. I also use Monitor Your Weight, which I really like for tracking my weight and figuring out BMI. Any other good apps out there that people use/plan to use after surgery?
  7. I plan to walk, at first. I would love to find somewhere to swim, but there doesn't seem to be anyplace around me that's good for that. I think once I'm cleared to workout again, I might get a membership at planet fitness. A friend of mine works out there too, along with one of her coworkers that was also sleeved, so I might even have some buddies. Not sure if that will help me motivationally-wise. I'm also thinking of getting a personal trainer to help me learn how to properly do weights and the like. But my bigger plan is in August I get my puppy, and we plan on doing a lot of walking and playing with him/her, even in the cold of winter!
  8. May 2nd too! Sleeve. I realized today that I registered here on bariatricpal back in 2015, but I didn't make the decision until November of last year. Now my date is almost here and I'm both super excited and happy, and super nervous.
  9. Hi! I'm scheduled to be sleeved on May 2nd. I'm looking for buddies who are getting sleeved around the same time. Doesn't need to be on the same day. Looking for others who are like me, more relaxed, and whose program is not keto and super low carb. My program and nutritionist promote moderation and healthy choices. I'm 38, stay at home mom of 3. I like video games, anime, Buffalo sports, reading, writing...I'm working on trying to enjoy working out. I talk to my best friends a lot, but one is thin and really can't get everything I talk about, and the other is plus size, but accepts that about herself, and in fact, seems to try to avoid talking about the surgery with me other than wishing me the best. I don't want to push it, I was really uncomfortable once at the notion of WLS . Having someone who understands and is going through a lot of what I'm going through to talk to would be really helpful.
  10. Yeah, I get the logic behind it. I was rather shocked when my surgeon said they don't require the pre-op diet (they are accredited by the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program, so I think fairly reputably, lol) We'll see though, I meet with the surgeon again on Monday, and he'll probably pop the info on me and I'll feel guilty enough to do it, even it's not required.
  11. I'm honestly torn. From what I've been told, the pre op is the worst, so who wants to go through it? Not me. Yet at the same time, I feel like I should...my surgeon said it's not required, but recommended. But I've never gotten any other information from my CNP, Nutritionist or surgeon... Watch him pop the information on me Monday. Plus I worry my liver will be in bad shape or something, and make the surgery harder on my body.
  12. Pre-op here, but so far I like them all. My favorite vanilla out of all the protein powders I've tried. The strawberry is really sweet. I have the chicken soup, but haven't tried it, saving it for post op. I don't think I'll ever try a chocolate I really like, but the chocolate splendor is decent enough. I've got samples of the other chocolate coming.
  13. May 2nd here! Have my final appointment with my surgeon on Monday, and my hospital physical on Thursday. No pre diet, and I'm getting really anxious!
  14. Uuugh, good luck with that. If it makes you feel better, I almost feel like that's going to prepare you better for after surgery. I'm actually sort of worried that post op is going to hit me really hard because I'm gonna be used to plenty of calories, lol. At the same time, it's really hard to convince myself to do it since I don't "have" to.
  15. I'm sorry it's going so roughly for you. I was told my hospital won't discharge you until you are getting enough water, though I have no idea how much that is... Have you tried little things, like changing water temperature, or switching the brand of shakes you drink? A few people have mentioned chewing on ice chips and that helped with the water. Good luck, and I hope it gets better. Dehydration is probably not going to help!
  16. My program doesn't require a pre-op diet. I'm thinking of doing one though, at least for a few days. Not sure what to do though.
  17. Good job! I'm hoping the fact that I've been walking 2-2.5 miles before surgery will help me get back on my feet sooner. I have chronic leg pain though, and I took some days off this week though. I'm feeling pretty positive about all of it though!
  18. Thanks everyone! We decided to take the chance and keep our plans. Now to plan what to bring along with me. Figure my water bottle, and protein. I'm still on full liquids at that time (3 weeks, ugggggh) so that will be the other "complication" as I doubt I'll be finding many acceptable full liquid choices on the road. I will probably just plan that once I know what's working with my tummy and what doesn't.
  19. Sounds good. A lot of the people in my program say that staff do a really good job of getting most of the gas out of there after surgery, so I'll have my fingers crossed. Thanks!
  20. So my surgery is May 2nd. I'm curious as to how people felt 10days out. I ask because I was supposed to go on a day trip to Boston with my husband on the 13th (planned before I got my date, and then forgotten, lol.) I'm sure there will be walking, though I can take it somewhat easy, and if push comes to shove, I can pick a place and hang there (I will probably find a way to the aquarium, lol). My husband and I RARELY get trips like this for the two of us without kids so I really don't want to cancel it. Today is the final day to cancel. My husband's guess is 3-4 miles of walking throughout the day. edited to add: I realize everyone is different, I'm just trying to get a general feel for how everyone else felt. If I wasn't feeling it, I'd take the loss, but if there's a chance I'll be feeling fine, I want to go for it.
  21. I did too, but the scale is absolutely refusing to move. I think it's determined to remind me how much I need the surgery because while I was losing well earlier, I was doubting my need for it. And I have lists, I just keep adding to them instead of tacking what's already on there. I'm so scattered!
  22. LOL...I have been feeling down the past few days and I realized it's because I don't know what to do with myself now till surgery. I've been so focused on getting approved and getting a date, now I'm like uhhhhhhh now what??? It's particularly annoying because I'm sure there are things I should get done before surgery to be prepared, I just can't seem to focus ony of it!
  23. Just got my date today! May 2nd! So nervous and excited!
  24. I've told my husband, of course. Two of my friends, it sort of slipped out. A few of my friends that I strictly talk to online. They are all supporting me, particularly my husband who is very much my advocate and has told me a million times already "whatever you need to do or change, we'll do it." I have not told my family (my sister, and my Aunt...my mother passed due to obesity and complications from diabetes.) nor have I told my husband's family. I'm scared of being judged by them. It'll come out eventually...my husband and I go to his house with the kids (here in the same town) every Friday for Pizza. Still not sure how I'm going to handle that. It doesn't help that my sister is rail thin (though it's because she doesn't eat and smokes a lot, even while pregnant. ) my father in law is really healthy and lost lots of weight after his heart attack, my brother in law and his wife are physical therapists, each lost weight on weight watchers, and my other sister in law is Korean and can eat 10 gallons of ice cream and lose 5 lbs. I feel really insecure around them then it comes to my weight, and I honestly can't tell with any of them if they will be negative or not. I'm thinking once I have a date, I will let my father in law know (since we also might need his help to baby sit the kids, and I will tell him not to take it personally if I stop coming over as I adjust.) The rest of the family...we'll see. You'd think my sister would be supportive, considering my mother declined WLS out of fear a few years back, something I see as the beginning of the end of her life. If she had gotten it, I really think she'd be alive now. But who knows? Maybe I'll change my mind once I'm done and free discuss it.
  25. Just got back, it was fairly simple. Mostly just talking, asking if I had questions, explaining a few things. Still thinks I'm a good candidate for WLS, and thinks my decision to sleeve is fine. His concern is my current heartburn issues, but he's ok with it if I am. I appreciate the honesty my program seems to have. They don't handhold. If I want to succeed, I have to change, and here's the tools to help that. Still nervous, of course, but I feel as though I'm grounded in my decision. Just have to keep taking the steps. The hardest part isn't the surgery, but me. Surgeon himself seems very personable. Typical young cocky doctor, LOL. Not a bad thing, I suppose, you need a doctor sure of his skills.
