  1. Day 4 and I am overall feeling better each day. I still have discomfort when drinking, so struggling to get all my fluids in. I purchased some Unjury chicken soup to help with protein but the smell made me want to hurl. Ice chips have been my best friend and isopure but I can't seem to finish the bottle. I was able to sleep on my side last night, which allowed for a decent nights sleep but woke up with my large incision aching something awful???? I have been walking and sipping and actually had my first bm this morning ???????????? who would've thunk that one would get excited to ???? ???? but I felt relief after. I am down 8 pounds since surgery, which is super exciting. Now if I can only get down 40 grams of protein and 43 oz of liquid ????
  2. Glad that you are doing well and that your work week has been pleasant. Yayyy for long weekends. I actually plan on going back to the office on Monday and as of right now I'm dreading it, so it gives me some peace reading that it's a doable challenge
  3. I'm using an app called ihydrate to monitor my liquid consumption and so far so good I'm drinking from 2 ounce cups but find that I don't tolerate plain water well. I actually feel the water hit my esophagus or stomach and it's quite uncomfortable but ice definitely works better. I'm supposed to be getting in 40 G protein and 43 oz of water and that hasn't happened yet. I'm drinking the Isopure, ice chips and poweraide zero - hopefully today is a better liquid day ???? Congrats to those who aren't struggling with liquids
  4. I agree, it's actually uncomfortable for me. It makes me struggle getting liquids down How much liquid is everyone getting in?
  5. So sorry to hear that you have had a rough start but it will get better with each day
  6. Thank you for the words of encouragement they are much needed and appreciated
  7. Welcome back ???????????? I agree the 1st 2 days were the worst I'm struggling to get all my liquids in, some stuff has a weird feeling going down but hopefully it will continue to ease up
  8. Welcome back ????????????Yes it has been a ride, no slip ups though the word food makes want to gag. I didn't stay overnight in the hospital. I was at a center of excellence for a little over 8 hours Definitely glad to be home but so ready to feel like myself again
  9. Hi all, I had my sleeve with hernia repair on the 9th and I must say it has been an interesting ride. I was in the hospital for about 8 hours and then I was released to go home. The first day all I did was sleep and walk, trying to release the gas that was stuck in my stomach and back. It helped but didn't remove it all. Thank God for the IV fluids because they helped keep me hydrated since I couldn't seem to get anything down without discomfort. The 2nd day I was feeling a little better but the gas was still a beast. I got in some fluids but less than I had hoped for. Today is much better, I was partially able to sleep on my side last night, which allowed for a few consistent hours of sleep. I'm on clear liquids and have been sipping Isopure, poweraide and ice chips. I'm about half way to my daily fluid goal, which is great. I can still feel the liquids when I swallow but I assume it's from the hernia repair. I'm not really having incision pains but that's due to my stomach still being pretty numb from the shot they gave me. It's so funny how smells and tastebuds change after surgery. I loved my sugar free Popsicles but can't stomach them right now and the smell of food makes me want to gag, I suppose that's a good thing. My only issues today are the gas in my tummy and back, this constant belching and this migraine that I can't kick. I do have chronic migraines and hoped I wouldn't have one since I can't take anything. So far I have no regrets just ready to feel 100% like myself again.
  10. Hi Jeanette, I had my surgery on the 9th and it has been an interesting ride thus far. Today is the first day that I am able to get liquids down with comfort. How are things on your end?
  11. I'm sitting at the surgery center, trying not to be annoyed and have only positive thoughts but why are the doors locked and they can't find the guard to let us in ???? Breathe, be calm - it's in Gods hands Sending prayers and thoughts to everyone this morning
  12. Amen and thank you for your prayer
  13. Tomorrow is almost here ???????????? I have to be at the hospital by 6 am, I'm my surgeons first My mind is racing and I'm kind of freaking out, I'm ready for it to be over
  14. Rooting for you ???????????? Sending thoughts and prayers your way Glad all went well and that you are feeling great - I'm praying for the same
  15. Please crash the party ???? you are more than welcome Yayyy for 1 more day, don't be nervous the end result will be so worth it I definitely understand not wanting to dehydrate, I got a case of poweraide zero from Costco and plan on drinking one daily during my first week just to ensure the I stay hydrated Sending hugs and positivity your way for tomorrow- if you can keep us posted ????
  16. Happy Sunday - I am a bit anxious as well, just trying not to focus too much on Tuesday It felt like the day would never come but omg it's basically here
  17. What flavors do you have and have you tried them yet? I purchased the grape and passion fruit. I have tasted the grape and did not like it at all. I felt like my tongue was shriveling up...really weird so I have not tried any others. Haha not your tongue shriveling. Yes I have tried them - I have the alpine punch, the lemon, the blue and the grape - they are not the best protein drinks out there but they definitely aren't the worst. My suggestion is to pour them over lots of ice, they need to be really cold. I like the fact that they have 40 G protein and intend on using them during my Clear Liquids stage
  18. Hi! Thank you! I have two of those. I tried one before surgery and it was pretty gross. I think I'm just going to keep it at 45g for now. At least until the end of the first 14days. When I talked to my dietician she was surprised I was getting that much in! If I change my mind I might drink some of it just to put me at 50g. Which flavors do you like? Maybe I bought the worst ones lol So what I have found is that they taste so much better over lots of ice ???? The alpine punch, grape, blue and lemon are the only ones that I have and they aren't bad - I heard coconut is tasty, coconut is gross to me so I can't vouch for that flavor ????
  19. Thanks for the shake tips, variety is necessary ???? sending prayers and thoughts your way for Monday, I'm right behind you on Tuesday ????????????
  20. I'm glad that you are doing well and are able to get in your fluids and protein - I know you wanted to get a little more protein in, have you tried the isopure protein drinks? They are fruit flavored and have 40 G protein per bottle - I actually stocked up on them and intend on living on them and broth my first week
  21. All will be well - stay positive, this will be a smooth ride ????
  22. Yes, it is our last Friday ???? I got the call for my surgery time this morning and I have to be there at 6 am on Tuesday - I'm my surgeons first patient ???????? I'm going to get a mani and pedi this weekend and make sure everything I need after surgery is readily available some friends are having a party this weekend, which I do not want to go to, so I have been trying to also figure out how to get out of that ????sighh Is everyone excited and ready - just curious, what protein shakes is everyone drinking
  23. Thank you ???? I am actually having a hernia repair as well and it's probably what freaks me out most but I'm ready for the journey I do agree that we need to be knowledgeable going in and I have and definitely will continue following what the surgeon says - I need a smooth ride ????
  24. Sorry to hear they couldn't get any blood, that really bites - tomorrow will be better ????
  25. Hi surgery twin - well you're a triplet but we are surgery twins, I'm the 9th as well and so ready for the next chapter of this journey ???? How's your pre-op diet going are you ready - 5 days to go ????????????????
