  2. Lol not super Mario lol that's classic
  3. Thanks. I wish I could do the 6 month diet though only cause I feel like I'm not ready. I think about food so much but I just try and take it a day at a time. I'm surprised I've lost this much weight so far. I'm staying strong though. Thanks.
  4. Congratulations!!! I also have BCBS. 12 month diet OMG. My insurance waived a diet requirement due to my BMI being over 50 and having other health related issues. I'm happy you got your dates.
  5. Try passing time. When I'm feeling hungry I hop on the Xbox and play some games and drink water. Don't quit my man. Try and stay the course. You're ahead of me in this process so I need you to make it through this man cause when I get to this point in the process I'll need your help and encouragement. Ride or die!!
  6. @caprice this lady seriously said that to you? What a jerk. She's a nurse and is supposed to help and encourage. Try not to let people get to u. I'm not one that let's people get to me. When you feel this way jump on and talk to us about it. People are going to be mean. This nurse is probably jealous that she can take control of her life like you have. I have a saying that I would love to share with you- "ignore the noise". All negative thoughts, things, and mean things people say just ignore it and keep your eye on the prize. Congrats on losing that 10 pounds!! Awesome start!! Thank you so much! I like that saying a lot, it's so frustrating. I just wanna do this so I can be healthy. I was never this heavy. I started packing on the pounds after my dad died then I got diagnosed with h pylori and polycystic ovary syndrome. Now I just hate going out cause I'll have to feel gross in cloths. She said she wanted the surgery too but stopped when she found out she couldn't eat and drink at the same time! So this lady was considering the surgery huh? Is she overweight? I was going to ask you this in the last post. FIGURES!!!!!!! On a side note though I'm sorry to hear about your Dad and all your other issues. Nothing is wrong with you. You look great. Sure we all carry some weight but we're not ugly people. I'm getting the surgery due to my health. I have sleep apnea, high blood pressure, and I'm borderline type II diabetic. Do it for your health. Due it for your Dad who I'm sure would have loved to have been around to help you on your journey, lastly due it for you!! You deserve to get your life back. Stay the course.

  9. That's three days after my birthday! So awesome! Good luck to you and be sure to keep up posted on all pre-op and post-op stuff you go through, good or bad. I have a feeling that my date will be somewhere around before or after my birthday. That'll be one heck of a present!
  10. Every thing is going to be okay. We all need this. We'll help you through, if you cry we can all cry together. You won't be alone on this journey!
  11. Nice to meet you! I'm glad that you took the step and decided to post. I haven't started a post of my own yet (still new) but I've def have been reading a lot of people's post and wishing them all well in this process. When you come across rude or judgmental people you have to just ignore them. With all of the nice and encouraging people on here you should be fine. I'm still in the pre-op process as well. I have Blue Cross Blue Shield for my insurance. I didn't need to do a 6 month diet because my BMI was over 50 at my initial weigh in. The insurance specialist through my program told me that once I've completed all the appointments I will have no issues with the insurance. I've met all the requirements so far. So I should be getting my date for sometimes in October. I wish you all the best in your journey. Keep up all posted and good luck!
  12. I'm here in Michigan as well. Sending you lots of support! We can do this.
  13. My surgery will be here in Michigan where I live. Not doing the Mexico thing. I actually have a co-worker who with that route and she's doing really awesome. She had her surgery with a Dr. Alamanza. She has kept me in the loop with her and she has had no complications and she's lost a bunch of weight.
  14. Hey there BacktoB- I have two more appointments before I will get my surgery date so at this point I'm still pre-op. My next two dates are 9/28 and 10/9 (medical clearance, and re-evaluation with my surgeon). I should be all set to get my date (looking like October for me) as long as I haven't gained any weight. Let's do it together! Support is all we need to keep up afloat.
  15. No doubt! I'll add you so we can keep up with one another.
  16. I have the fitbit surge (259.99). I love this thing. Let me tell you, I really don't think I would've been able to have this good of a start without this thing. It totally holds you accountable. Also, when you have something like this you can totally show your doctors/surgeon as far as your steps/walking/exercising. That's why I love it. Also, I know that I need to be around 8K as far as steps and I know that I've done enough walking in a day to burn the calories that I want to burn. Also it syncs with my fitness pal as well so when you're getting those steps in and walking and working out you'll get more calories back to eat. You should totally try it. I love this thing!
  17. I haven't received my date yet, although it appears mines won't come around until October! We don't have to have dates around the same time to keep up with one another! I'm still in the pre-op stage and I have to more dates (medical clearance, and re-evaluation with the surgeon) before I can get my date. I haven't really had the up and down feeling of NOT wanting to do the surgeon because I have other health related issues I have in the reason I want this surgeon. But, be sure to take on this board and keep us informed on how ever your feeling and your process! Wishing you all the best!
  18. Thanks buddy! I will most def do that! Thanks for the support!
  19. I agree with Inner Surfer Girl here. She should reach out to her NUT to see if she can find a diet that would help her lost more. I find that eating more protein helps. I'm super sorry that your wife has to deal with this. When I started my program I was 342.7 pounds. Before my first meeting with the surgery I lost 15 pounds. He was very happy with that and told me that I didn't need to meet a weight requirement. He did tell me that the only time he makes a person lose a lot of weight is if they have a super high BMI. The larger you are the more weight they require for you to lose. He told me that at the most it's 10% of your body weight. Your wife is so close. I would maybe try going through another Bariatric program. Without knowing all of your wife's stats I can't tell you if the surgeon is just being a jerk about it. It's a disease. He should want to help. Wishing you all the best!
  20. I don't have my date as of yet. I have two more appointments before I will get my date. It's looking like sometime in October though. I have my medical clearance appointment on 9/28, and then my re-evaluation appointment with the surgeon on 10/9. If I have not gained any weight and I'm cleared from a medical standpoint I'll get my date that day. I don't weigh myself at all. The only times I weigh is when I'm in the hospital. For me I take the stress away when I don't weigh. I can pretty much tell when I've gained weight or when I'm losing. SO I know I'll be good. As long as I'm still at minimum 325.1 when I weigh in I'm good. I'm sure I've lost some since because I'm working out and I haven't back slide on my eating.
  21. My psych evaluation was very short but intense. He asked lots of questions pertaining to why I wanted the surgery, what I loved and hated abut myself, family history, he asked about tragedies that may have happened throughout life. It was very intense. You never want to go into the evaluation telling them you want surgery just to look good. There has to be a more sensible reason like you want to live a healthy life for your children and be around to watch them grow up. I never mentioned my looks not even once. Good luck! She's so right here! Let them know that you've dealt with weight your entire life and that you've tried all the diets and have been successful but that you can't keep the weight off. I'm not sure if you have any other health related issues like High Blood Pressure or anything. But, for me it's all about health and feeling better. I never mentioned how I want to wear that perfect outfit or become one of those TOOLS we see out there on the beach. Telling them you want to be skinny and look good would def be a red flag.
  22. Also let me add this. I was cleared from a mental health stand point after the meeting. I had time like 5 years ago when I was going through a super depressed period in my life and I checked myself into a mental hospital due to stress and I told them about this and how I followed up with a mental health doctor after my time at this place and they didn't find that it was an issue because now I'm in a super good place with stress management. I was honest about it and they didn't use that against me. Also, in the program I am in for the Bariatric surgery they recommended that I attend some support group meeting or join an online support group (so I joined here) and that's helped a lot. I have a friend that went through the process as well. She's diagnosed as clinically depressed and take an anti-depressant. She didn't pass her evaluation. The doctor wanted to see her two more times before deciding to pass her only cause she's not actively seeing a shrink! So you'll be fine.
  23. Hey there, Basically during this Psych Evaluation they try and make sure that you don't have any signs or background of any mental health and if you do they want to make sure that you're actively seeing someone to talk about any issues that you may be going through. The questions that they ask aren't driven towards how are things are home (in your marriage). It's mainly they want to know if you have a support person that will be in place to help you along the way. They will also want to know what plans you have in place now, and after the surgery once you go through any obstacles. Just be honest during this evaluation. If you have seen a mental health doctor at any time just tell them because if you have seen a mental health doctor through the same hospital they will know about this and will want to know why this wasn't brought to their attention. Work your program. They will mainly ask you things about how you are feeling going through this process and ask you questions on how long you've been overweight and they will ask you what type of eater you are and will ask you about trigger foods that will be an issue for you now and going forward. If you have no issues with mental help and you have a solid plan on how you plan to cope with any issues you'll be fine. They also make you take this test where they test your memory and stuff like that. It's pretty smooth sailing. You really don't have to talk about your issues at home. You'll be fine! Good luck!
