  1. That's nasty, and besides unprofessional -- very rude! I'm sorry to hear.
  2. I'm pre-op for another week, and the NUT recommended 52-62 grams of protein per day for me (5'3" female). Then told me more was not better. Does that sound low to you too? Of course, this is my only experience and I don't have anything to weigh it against.
  3. Only 9 days left! I'm trying to get completely ready for the holidays pre-surgery since I'm not sure how I'll be feeling afterwards. I have my surgeon pre-op tomorrow, and the hospital pre-op on Tuesday. I'll be asking about what I may need to have at home for when I get out if the hospital. Otherwise I'm feeling pretty good
  4. From what I understand, if you have been under a 6 month supervised weight loss plan within the last 2 years (and can prove it) that can be used instead of the 6 months of visits. If you're doing the 6 months of visits now, be sure you don't skip a month of weighing in. Find out what your beginning weigh in is and be sure you do not surpass that weight. Best of luck!!
  5. I only have 24 hours of pre-surgery diet and it's clear fluids. (40+ BMI). I'm feeling grateful for that. All doctors are different.
  6. Congrats!!! Mine is 1/21My surgery has changed to 12/2 - got the call this afternoon - eek!Oh my goodness! That's awesome. Are you ready?
  7. Hey December 8th sleevers! 4 weeks to go now - how are we feeling?? I'm trying to tie up any loose ends and starting my vitamins soon. I'm very excited. Not so scared, probably because I've been waiting for SO LONG.
  8. Thank you for this thread! I had no idea how long it might take and it is helpful in planning my post-op responsibilities.
  9. I am also December 8th, 2015! Congrats and good luck!!!29 days to go!! 12/08/2015, here we come. Are you feeling ready @@lesley_vsg and @@tera1982 ?I am nervous(I've had surgery before, but anesthesia is always worrisome; I am only mildly worried about pain; concerned about my diabetes and how it's going to react to my new sleeve(I am a type-1 diabetic on an insulin pump); and also about hair loss as I already have fine, thinning hair although I hear as long as I get all of my Protein and fluids, it SHOULD be minimal-per my NUT). Other than that, lol, I am super excited and ready for the next stage of my life, hopefully a healthier, thinner stage!????I'm worried about hair loss too, as I already have thin hair. I have started Biotin supplements already, since I heard they work best before the hair starts thinning. Hopefully it makes a difference. Plus all protein and fluids like you said!
  10. How exciting! I'm a 12/08/2015 also. It's getting close. Such a great gift for the holidays
  11. After insurance approval, I was able to schedule 5 days later. The soonest date they had was 9 weeks away. Only 4 more weeks to go for me!

  16. How awesome! What month do you think you are going to be getting it done in? I was approved in 3 business days by Anthem BCBS in CA. I finally received my surgery date, 12/08/15, so I'm in my 9 week wait.

  21. How did it turn out? I am at BASS too. I just received insurance approval, and am waiting for my surgery date from Dr. Chin. I'm hoping it doesn't go into next year, my insurance is changing 1/1/16. How far out did they book you? Thanks!
  22. Update: my Anthem CA insurance approval time took 3 days! Now I'm just waiting to get my surgery date. I'm so happy. Still hoping for an October surgery date
  23. It was a quick turnaround and approval. Anthem HMO in CA, submitted Tuesday, approved Friday! Now I'm just waiting to schedule my surgery date. Thanks all!
  24. The copper IUD has no hormones and can last 10 years. Mirena has some hormones in it and lasts up to 5 years. I personally had a bad reaction to Mirena, but I don't think that is common.
  25. This is all great to hear. I have Anthem in California and the surgeon is submitting my file to insurance TODAY (9/28/15). I'm hoping for a quick turn around so I can assure surgery in 2015. Thanks everyone!
