My antidepressant will be crushed for the first week after surgery. If one is a capsule you can open the capsule and eat the powder inside. Probably tastes vile though. Either way, be sure to ask you surgeon and pcp- many meds that are time released cannot be crushed, but there might be another alternative like a different medicine for a little while or liquid version

Are you thinking that you won't get approved if you don't have sleep apnea because your BMI is to low to be approved without co-morbidities ?

Don't worry about the endoscopy. It's important for them to have so they know what's in your stomach and aren't suprised by anything they find in there. They are also checking for polyps or ulcers. You'll need somoene to go with you to bring you home, but I went to work after mine. No big deal. They put you to sleep, you take a little nap, and you wake up. That's all! I'm also doing 6 months of nutrition. Waiting is the hardest part. It took me decades to gain the weight so waiting 6 months for the surgery to get it off is okay. At least that's what I tell myself when I'm being positive about it.

These are all great questions to ask your surgeon as each has different preferences. My surgeon doesn't use a catheter or drains because he feels the risk of infection is greater than any benefit they support. Here are some other questions I recently asked: What Vitamins will I have to take? Can I continue taking my antidepressant? Do you prescribe Actigall as a preventative for gallbladder issues? What size do you make the stomach? Do you oversew the staple line? How many sleeves have you done in total? What is your leak/death rate? What percentage of excess weight do your patients typically lose? How many nights in the hospital? Is this a Center of Excellence? How often do your laproscopic surgeries turn to open surgeries? How far from the pylorus do you start the sleeve? Do you leave a fundul pouch? Do you prescribe an antacid for me to take after surgery?
