  1. Mine is monday as well! Super exciting! They told me to check in at 5:45 and my surgery is scheduled for 7:30, so that might be the sort of time frame you're looking at. Good luck, keep us updated. We're both gonna do awesome, I can feel it.
  2. Had my psych eval a few months ago. My surgery is very early monday morning. The appointment is pretty easy, they just want to make sure you're not crazy and that you're wanting to do the surgery for the right reasons. Also, to discuss any emotional eating issues you may have. Don't sweat it.
  3. That's my time too! Well, 5:45 but close enough!
  4. i JUST got my check in ans surgery time like 5 minutes ago lol. Arrival/check in is 5:45 am, my surgery is scheduled for 7:30 am. It's really happening! o.o
  5. totally understand. keep us updated! I wish you an uneventful surgery and a speedy, painless recovery.
  6. Awesome! You'll do great. Only a couple days for me.. I call in less than an hour to find out what time monday the surgery is.
  7. What is your pre-op diet like? my surgeon basically just wants me to have clear liquids two days before and that's about it... I sort of put myself on my own pre-op diet. XD
  8. Mine is the 17th too! We're surgery twins!
  9. Congratulations! My surgery is on Monday. I can only hope mine goes as well as yours has been.
  10. Monday, August 17th... only a few days away now o.o IM FREAKING OUT A LITTLE
  11. My surgery is on Monday! Here are tips I have learned from the pre-op experience. - if you smoke, quit now! Most surgeons won't even admit you into the program unless you quit, and will test your blood to make sure you haven't smoked for at least 6 weeks prior to surgery. After surgery, smoking can be very dangerous for a whole list of reasons. - if you drink soda, quit now! I would also recommend trying to cut back on your caffeine levels in general, because caffeine withdrawal after surgery is going to be just one more thing that makes you feel terrible. - if you eat white bread, Pasta, rice, etc, I would highly recommend reducing the amount you eat as much as you can and switching to a whole grain version. It's a bit more expensive but the doctor or nutritionist you're going to be seeing before surgery is going to tell you to do that anyway. Plus, it helps to cut back on grains in general, as your post-op diet is going to be Protein, protein, and more protein for a long time. - try to be patient. I know what it's like to be super excited and hopeful about this great change in your life, but taking things slow and doing them the right way, and making your body as ready and healthy as possible before surgery greatly increase your chances of long-term success in terms of keeping the weight off and your general health. - my last tip is to spend some time thinking about why you are overweight in the first place. The surgery is amazing, and extremely helpful, and an overall incredible experience, but in the end, it's just a tool that you have to help you lose weight and keep it off. The problems that you have before going into surgery are still going to be there when you come out of surgery, and even though you will lose a lot of weight in the beginning, long-term success is absolutely dependent on your good habits and healthy coping skills. Personally, I had to address a problem I didn't really think I had (emotionally speaking) as a lot of my weight gain came from pre-existing medical issues and just down-spiraled from there. The fact is, we all got heavy for a lot of reasons, and addressing the psychological issues, like emotional overeating, is essential to this entire process and your happiness and health for the rest of your life. Good luck! It's an incredible journey. Utilizing ALL the tools you have, including forums like this, food journaling, therapy, the support of your loved ones, etc, will go a long way towards making this time and the rest of your life amazing! Feel free to message me anytime if you want to talk, rant, ask questions, anything.
  12. Mine is on monday! We're both gonna do just fine. In fact, we'll do better than fine. feel free to friend/message me anytime if you want to talk.
  13. @@trudycarle4 I am indeed out of Highland. I'm going to the MONARCH support group meeting tonight at 6:30. I'm pretty sure they have one every month, so if you won't be at this one but can make the next one, it would be cool to meet you and say hey!
  14. Hi Trudy! I'm in Rochester. nice to meet you.
  15. YES! I finally got it! I spent the day crying and smiling! I was very full of emotions. Thank you girl! Congratulations Nikikins! I know that feeling and it is fantastic!
  16. As of right now, I'm to report at 6am for 8am surgery. Hope that doesn't change. Awesome. I'm pretty sure mine will be early morning as well. Best of luck to you, keep me updated on your progress
  17. Voodoo! Obsessing-buddies! Nice to meet you kaplanlyn. my surgery is this coming Monday the 17th. I'd love to be friends!
  18. Yesterday was my last day of solid protein bars. Today and until saturday I'm drinking Ensure Light nutrition shakes (12g protein, 70 cals, 0g sugar) 3 times a day, herbal tea, and organic chicken broth. What are your plans?
  19. So sorry to hear that your best friend is being a butt. I haven't told a whole lot of people but I somehow became lucky enough to have extremely supportive close friends who have been great cheerleaders and encouragement for me. Same with my boyfriend, and my mother and sister (those are the only family members I have told). I hope they continue to be so supportive and happy for me. At least you have people here who understand and support you. As for college, I'm actually more than halfway through but I'm on medical leave, mainly because my weight has been such a huge emotional and physical struggle for me. It was leaving school on a leave indefinitely last spring that made me first think about looking into this surgery. I know now that it's totally the right thing for me, and I can't wait to have my life back. I would live to be friends and pick your brain about how everything is going for you!
  20. Yes, it will be performed laparoscopically, unless there us some sort of complication during surgery (lets hope not!) I should probably be exercising more, I will definitely focus on that for the next five days. Luckily I don't drink anything with caffeine so that is one less thing to work on.
  21. August 17th for me, just 5 days now! Super excited.
  22. So, as the title says, my RNY is only 5 days away now, on Monday! I've reached an emotional point where I feel very little nervousness and a lot of calm certainty that this is the right thing for me, and that my life is headed in a really good direction. I'm not even having problems with the extremely limited 5 day pre-op liquid diet I'm on. I'm looking for general suggestions here on ways I can further prepare my body for surgery. I know a lot of surgeons require a whole bunch of things pre-op, like bowel prep/colonoscopies and such. My surgeon doesn't even really require a pre-op diet, only that I drink nothing but Clear liquids two days before. So I put myself on a 1 week liquid diet. So what are you all doing, or will you all be doing, in terms of body preparation for surgery? Do you take any specific supplements for your hair or skin, or use certain lotions that help with skin elasticity, or eat/drink certain foods to help prepare your digestive tract? I just want to be as prepared as I can possibly be. It's my way of staving off any anxiety I might start feeling. Thanks!
  23. Cool! Do you know what time yet? I won't know until Friday when i call the hospital.
  24. Hey, I'm in upstate NY too! My surgery date is August 17th... this coming Monday! I'd love to be friends. Whereabouts in upstate NY are you?
  25. Drink some herbal tea, listen to some beautiful and relaxing music, and day dream about the great things that are headed your way, including a healthy new life. You've got this.
