  2. PB - Productive burp Here is a link to a very helpful list. Lap Band Surgery and Lap Band Discussion Forum - FAQ: Lap-band Abbreviations
  3. I have had slimes and some PBs but not had the major stuck problem until just lately (I am 7 months post-band.) Right now, I feel like I have not really eaten in about 2 days. Recently with a change in the weather I am suffering from seasonal allergies. I will have to check in with doc about the nasal drip issues. So glad I checked in. Thanks for all the posts.
  4. Hey Marchers! Been a while since I posted, but I am pleased with life after banding. Down 41 lbs. and three sizes. I am now running 3 miles 3 times a week plus strength training. Glad to see others are having great results as well.
  5. 5 months post-op and completely remember the rash. Definitely an allergic reaction to the adhesive. Very common.
  6. Man, do I feel better. I have not posted in a while but after my second fill all was pretty normal. Now for almost 2 weeks (still post 2nd fill,) I have had to be really careful or I get stuck really easily. I have waited so long because I have also been on a high power antihistamine for a skin allergy. I was thinking the drugs were affecting me, but it might just be a combination of the 2 - I need to call my doc and ask. I have no idea what size band I have or how much I have in there. I was banded on 3/4/08 and have had 2 fills.
  7. WOW - what a few weeks you have had. I am really glad you didn't hurt your insides as well with such a rough fall. I wish you a speedy and full recovery.
  8. Good for you - being informed is a great tool. There is so much info here it is worth spending some time poking around. I looked through the pre and post threads as well as the complications board. I would just warn that with the complications threads - no one posts there unless they had issues and everyone reacts differently in certain instances. For example - my sister can't eat bananas even three years post surgery. I am 8 weeks post and eat one every morning before I workout. But neither of us can eat white bread. Go figure. I wish you well in your research. Feel free to ask me anything.
  9. Hey all - finished week 1 of C25K yesterday. felt sooo good. Then walked around and climbed all over some great boats at the Texas Boat show in Corpus Christi. Sunburned and tired, I slept for 10 hours last night. Hope every one else is having a great weekend.
  10. Hey all. Yoga yesterday and my first run (ok - it was a walk/run) since surgery. Felt good.
  11. I was searching for a post like this. I had my first fill last Thursday feel many of the things you are feeling. If I even think about a solid Protein of any kind I slime for like an hour. Gross! I have not had the upset stomach. I am going to get well back into mushies for the next few days then try the the solids again. If they are still not working, I will go in for an unfill. I don't mind waiting because I can still get some pretty decent Proteins without reverting back to Protein shakes. I am glad your unfill did the trick. If I start to feel the upset stomach or the solids don't get better by about the weekend, I will go back to the doc. Thanks for posting your experience.
  12. Got in 45 minutes of cardio this morning. Fast walking until tomorrow when I re-start the C25K thing. Also re-started with the PT today. Man, did that feel good. It has been so long since I lifted. We did chest and legs. So many medical issue - it is great to hear that they are clearing up in due time. Healing is such a funny thing. Have a gerat week y'all.
  13. You will get a lot of this answer - ask your doc. I can tell you mine only side-lined me the day of surgery and if I took pain meds. I had surgery on a Tuesday and drove to the spa or a pedicure on Thursday.
  14. chily - I have been banded a little longer than you (3/4) and I feel that evil between the boob pain when I eat to fast or didn't chew everything really well.
  15. I so know what you mean. I have always pre-determined what I want to be my last bite - whatever it was on my plate that I liked best, so I save a bite of it for the last bite. Yeah, DH thinks I am nuts. Since the band, I have to adjust when that bite comes. Several times I have waited too long and reached full before I got my last bite in. And yeah - Jack is right, it's a great problem to have.
  16. Like everyone else who has responded to your question, I am really happy with my decision to have the LP. I started this process at 232 and I am 5'2. Like you, I hated saying that number. Just over 6 weeks post op, I am down almost 25 pounds and people are starting to notice. I feel so much better already. I will also tell you that something in my brain just switched. I don't know if it was the time investment or the $, but I am completely on board with this new way of life. I think that helps with being happy with the decision. One of the things I did during my 6 month insurance required supervised diet was to read through the many of the different sections. Exercise fitness, complications, pre and post surgery - just to see what other people were going through. Again, for me I think it helped me be more prepared for what was to come. And congrats on really considering this. I think the more thought you put into it, the better off you will be. It is as much about our heads as it it is our stomachs. Feel free to email if you have other questions.
  17. Hello all. Crazy week. Worked out 3 times this week. Had my first fill. Yeah - don't try steak same day as a fill. I had no idea but I know now. I also had my tattoo touched up. I realize that sounds crazy, but it has an effect on my workout schedule - I can't wear anything but flip-flops for 3 more days. My tat is on my right inner heel. Sounds weird but it looks great - again. I have a Christian fish. The great news is that I am free to resume all activities I want to and have my personal trainer lined up for this coming Monday so I can start lifting again. I am looking at 2-30 minute sessions per week for the next 5 weeks plus my cardio days. I am also finally getting to restart the C25K program next week. Stef - wow! But sounds like you have a great plan. Thinking about you and pulling for you!! Keep up the good work - everyone is working so hard. Yeah us!!
  18. WOW! Whosya - you rock!! And you look great. Steph - how? I am checking on to report 2 miles on Saturday. You are a monster!! Whosya - by the way, I got sunburned yesterday while mowing the hard. I know, that was mean. But I really commend you for getting out there. Snow? I don't know that I would turned out. Well done! Have a great week all.
  19. I didn't realize the rest of the world called the food Network porn - since day 1 my husband and I have referred to it that way. hehehehe! Winegoddess - I had the same concern. Here is what I have found to be perfect. When ever you hit mushy stage, make an outing to Chili's. They have a great chicken Tortilla Soup that will make you feel like to ate Mexican food. I used my fork to pull out the bigger pieces and then with a spoon I went to town. My husband also made me some avocado soup. Yum! Think like you are going to make guacamole, but add a low fat milk or cream and blend in the blender. It was great but had to eaten on the first day. Day 2 it was not worthy. Once I moved closer to solid foods (maybe week 4 after band) my co-workers and I popped into one of our favorite Mexican food places. It is called Ventura's Tamales. Naturally I took a stab at a tamale and it was perfect. I also was able to eat some of the Beans. But forget the rice. And now my big confession to all of you - I have had steak! I am a fan of the filet. Can't help myself. I even secretly think I married DH because of his talents behind the grill. He grilled one for me last weekend. It was soooo good. He seared the outside and left the inside deliciously red and juicy. It was one of the easiest things I have eaten (still can't eat a chicken breast but who cares if I can eat beef!) Also, it was about a 7.5 oz filet, so I got 2 meals out of that bad boy. Life is good!
  20. Georgia Girl - sorry to hear about the infection - bummer! Whoya - what are you talking about "don't want to walk the whole thing" I have seen your posts and heard about your running and workouts - I have complete faith that you don't walk any of it. You're an animal. Good luck!! Walked 35 minutes Thursday and headed back to the gym tonight for 35 more. Planning walks on both Sat and Sun as well. Next week I get to move back into the running phase of my life. Can't wait. Hope everyone has a gerat weekend and really Whosya - have a gerat time. We know you will do well.
  21. Sorry to be so silent. I had mom medical issues that I had to tend to last week I did make my workouts. Even with out of town doc visits I got in 3 walks of 30 minutes Last week. This week I walked Monday for 1.5 miles. Then Tuesday I made it to yoga. being 5 weeks post op I feel like I did pretty well. I only modified a few moves and made the entire class. I followed it with another 1.5 miles walk. Took a day of rest today and will head back to the gym in the AM. Great to see everyone doing so well! Keep it up.
  22. Hey all. As of yesterday I am 5 weeks post op and starting to flirt with solid foods. I went for Ceviche first and it was SOOOO good. Being in South Texas I realize not everyone knows what that is. Think salsa with fish "cooked" in citrus juice, not heat. We took whole wheat tortillas and backed them for chips. I basically got 4 means out of it and still left some for DH. For a great recipe try the South Beach one. food Network also has about 50 different recipes.
  23. Foodie here. Like the earlier posts, I find myself going for quality. I use butter, I use full strength everything, just not a ton of it. My husband is also a foodie and the main cook. He took this whole banding thing on as a challenge. He has made me all kinds of homemade soups and the most delicious apple sauce I have ever eaten.
  24. Hey there. My person workout playlist range from Guns & Roses "Welcome to the Jungle" to The Bee Gees "Stayin' Alive" to Alan's Jackson "Are you Washed in The Blood" and "I'll Fly Away" Looks like some country is needed here. Try "If You're Going Through Hell" by Rodney Atkins. - good power song if you have an Ipod. Another good one is Big & Rich - "Comin' to your City" I know - eclectic.
  25. I was banded on 3/4 - I was sent home on full liquids and my list (every list is different it seems) included potato soup. There is a great, really smooth one very available - Campbell's Velvety Potato in the soup in hand containers. It is made to drink on the go. There are a few small bits of potato and I made sure to mush them further with my tongue. It definitely made me feel like was eating something. I am hanging on to it for after my first fill. I hear I may need the full liquid and/or mushie stuff then.
