  1. Happy anniversary Lynn....we are so much better of than we were this time last year... sharon:)
  2. congratulations Carrie...I'm lookin for those before pictures...but ya know how we all hate getting our pictures takin.... slow and steady....I'm with you!!!:tt2:
  3. Hey Connecticut Man long time since I've heard from you....how are you ding???? I just met my one year anniversary and had a million dollar workup...bloodwork and upper GI series....lost 62 lbs this year...how about you??? best thing I ever did.... hope you are well.... sharon:)
  4. Thank you Harley!! Ironically my appt was on my anniversary date...I've lost 62 lbs in one year...the doctor was quite happy as he said I've lost slow ansd steady. I went in there thinking I would ask for bloodwork but they were already ahead of me. I went to the lab yesterday morning to have 22 yes 22 vials of blood taken for every known nutritional lab work done...and also went and had an upper GI series...the radiologist said something about the esophagus (I couldn't quite understand his accent) but followed it with that was normally seen with lapbanders...my guess is that it isn't quite normal and proably a little dialated with some reflux...butnothing that bothers me.... so I wait for my bloodwork results as I am sure there are Vitamins etc that I probably should add to my diet. I had another fill that brought me to 7.5 cc in a 10 cc band...not having had a fill since November...which I didn't realize it was that long. I definitely have restriction. I haven't been online for a while so I'll take some time to catch up on everyone's journey...although I'm beginning to hate that word as it seems everyone is on some friggin journey..... Congratulations to us all for a fabulous year....I got into size 14 pants today and was like "wow"...although there is that fat hanging over some of it...but who knows!!! Sharon:)
  5. by the way I saw the doctor today who at one year sends you out for complete bloodwork...everything known to man to test...and an upper GI series to check the status of the band...I got another .5 cc in my band because I am hungry and I haven't had an addition since November...gosh I didn't think it as that long ago....I'm also headed back to the gym. I haven't gone in the last few months in fear of groups an infections...
  6. today is my one year anniversary and I feel successful. I went into getting the band not to quickly get down to a size "whatever" but to truly help me change my eating habits and life style. I have accomplished that. I never went into this with a date in mind as to when and how much I would lose. I just knew I would lose and didn't care how long it took me to do it. I will eventually be down to where I need to be. I am proud of my accomplishments and feel so much better than I did year ago. My blood pressure has gone down and I sleep better than I've ever slept because I was identified with sleep apnea through the process of getting lapband. I think we should all be proud of where we are and where we are going. Perserverance is important in any thing we do but it especially important in this life altering decision we all made. Congratulations to you all and I am happy I've met you on line. We have all been here for each other and for that it was worth all the anguish and sometimes painful processes we have gone through with life's little moments interfering with our daily activities. It is all about us and no one should feel guilty about that. Congratulations.... Sharon
  7. I was banded on 3/12 and have only lost 60 lbs...now that's slow. I haven't lost a thing in the last few months, very frustrating. Haven't been to the gym since November as I stay away from large crowd in the winter due to my ability to pick up bronchitis and respiratory infection really easy...spent time in the hospital last year wit h pneumonia and it scared me. Hoping when I start back I will be able to get this off a little quicker...but you know its been slow but steady...I'm ok with that sharon:)
  8. could never fit these girls in anything victoria secret...a push up bra would probably suffocate me....hanging loose and hoping for some surgical intervention when I'm done...whenever that is!!!
  9. i started at 244 and am down to 188....can't gauge what others are doing, I never had a time frame and I've lost consistently every month.....a little at a time..
  10. You guys are all amazing, I think I have lost the least in the entire group and sometimes get a little down about it....I can't believe it's going to be a year soon. I have had bronchitis x 2 in the last 8 weeks so have used that as an excuse to stay away from the gym. Planning to get back there this week. I really think this dreary weather doesn't help. Anyway, congratulations to you all...and thank you for your sharing with us all...we should think about a get together this summer. I think Fenton should stay in Paris until then and we can all go visit him.... hahahahahah......
  11. You know Lynn I too haven't thought about this but there are more days that I can't take in anything but soft foods and I am in a COLD zone....I am careful about what I take in though making sure it is high in protein...usually go for the greek yogurt...I forgot who recommended this yogurt but thank you as it is a great standby.... Today I had a clinical to do and went to whole foods to get something to eat.... OH MY GOD>..they had a chocolate extravaganza going on throughout the store...you couldn't walk anywhere without someone there with something chocolate. I decided to buy a newman's candy bar that was 150 calories rather than graze so I knew how many calories I was taking in...and quickly grabbed my lunch and went back to work... sharon:)
  12. Carrie welcome!!! This is the most active band and although you have been on the sidelines I'm sure what others have been through sharing their journey has helped. Congratulations that you found your way. We have all struggled with what is our ideal restriction and at 7 cc's in a 10 cc band I am going to get more at my next visit. Good days and bad days but have been fortunate enough to lose at every visit...just a little amount. The stories here are enlightening and supportive and we come from all walks of life yet there is a trend in each of our experiences. Continue to join our conversations and read what everyone says.....there is helpful information in everyone's story. Sharon:)
  13. You can just add yourself in by quoting it and then adding your name and weight...good luck
  14. I lost my ticker and tried to get it changed...its too late to play around with it...just got home from work and am tired i'll try to mess with i tomorrow....:cursing:
  15. congratulations Fenton meeting a milestone!! I am so amazed at all your weight losses...mine has been so slow but steady..stay warm this weekend...
  16. Well I would hope all of our lists are short for "see me naked"...praise the Lord for that!!! I will be wearing my bra around my knee caps soon... (sorry Fenton)...I'm so sick of winter..no motivation except to laze around in my flannels....
  17. honestly I don't eat before I go. I might have a cup of coffee because I always schedule them early in the morning..I don't think it matters if you eat but you should stick (I think) to a Protein Drink or soft food.... sharon:)
  18. I love greek yogurt and I have never thought about putting protein power with it!!! Thank you for a great idea... I'm a slowwwwww loser.....50 lbs since March  feel a little discouraged when I see others weight loss....but keep plugging along
  19. Hi Kerri and welcome back You and I started at about the same weight and have lost about the same amount. It has been very slow...but I've lost each time I've gone to the doctor. lately been eating around the band and not going to the gym. Easier to be home with the snow snuggled in my pajamas when I can. I'm going to the gym tomorrow and hoping to get back on track. sharon:) welcome back
  20. I'd like to know how you could keep those carmels down!!! sharon:)
  21. hang in there Fenton...maybe its bloating....
  22. Sorry about your Mom...I don't think we're ever ready to say goodbye...
  23. I was banded at HH also...last March Dr Tishler is wonderful. Peter the APRN is terrific. They are a group who are pretty aggressive with the fills and really listen to their patients. Know that after the surgery it will be 6 weeks before you get your first fill and you are not restricted. My first fill was 4.5 cc...and I am now at 7 cc and have found my sweet spot. It isn't a quick fix and you will have to get to know how to work with your band. I do NOT diet I eat what I want just a whole lot less of it. I can't eat bread or rice and I'm not a soda drinker. Good luck and keep us posted!!! The 10th was a Saturday I didn't know they did surgery on Saturdays... sharon:)
