Weighed in at 199 day of Surgery now at 173-175lbs now im 8 weeks post op weight loss is going slow for me. Love the decision I made and im learning to go with the flow when it comes to weightloss I know this is my new lifestyle.

I was seeing Dr Sanchez in Ventura and Dr Bounoua in Santa Barbara ended up doing my surgery.

Yes, still on medi-cal got my surgery 04/06 with my new surgeon process was faster as I had all my requirements for surgery which were psych eval. nutrition eval., sleep study, EGD, and documented weightloss tried. My prev. surgeon had a long waiting list for everything since he is the main bariatric surgeon for ventura county, but when I found my surgeon she was amazing and was in network with medi-cal. I would look around for options with surgeons as you don't just have that one choice! Good luck on your journey!

Waiting on insurance approval to change my surgeon who will be doing my surgery in Santa Barbara, CA looking to hear of experiences of locals??

Met with my new surgeon on Thursday and she said everything was a go for surgery in two weeks! Yay! I'm so excited so I had vacation for Vegas planned for the beginning of April should I cancel my vacation as it is Vegas or should I go forward as planned ??? I know I will still be on liquids or soft foods so should I go?? Need advice! Thanks all!

My surgeons office actually called me today to let me know that they would b submitting for auth today and to make sure not to gain any weight before pre op if not they would cancel my surgery! So hoping the insurance is fast with it and approves me as I am borderline at 40 bmi and only one co morbidity

I just had my last requirement with my surgeon today and they told me insurance would b around 3 weeks to respond which I know is a lie I don't think u shouldn't have an answer for that long.. I would call them

I finally had my last required appt with my nutritionist ✔️ had my psych eval✔️ even met my goal weight for my surgeon to go forward with doing the surgery now to wait for the ladies to submit my request to my insurance (medi-cal) question is I am a very impatient person should I call and see when they will submit and keep bugging them? I work for health clinic so I know the insurance approval takes no longer than 5 days for approval it just depends on the speediness of the person so should I bug or should I be patient? lol FYI they told me it would take 3 weeks I don't think I can wait that long

Really hoping to hear local stories, I'm from Ventura, CA and I'm on medi-cal there is a long waiting list for nutrition eval and psych so I'm feeling very anxious. My surgeon required 10lb weightloss for my next appt Nov 12 but my psych and Nutrition eval isn't until 11/19 was initially referred back in July and wasn't seen until September, I'm hoping medi-cal will approve my surgery and get on the books for surgery for Dec Jan. What was your pre op journey like??

I am also in California on medi-cal. I live in the Bay Area. How about you?I was referred by my PCP to Stanford Bariatric Clinic. They had me fill out a questionnaire and I had to wait for a surgeon to review my information before they would allow me to do anything else. I just got word they cleared me to get the process started. The clinic said they would be calling me tomorrow to go over information and schedule my seminar. Good luck to you! How's it going? I'm seeing my surgeon in Ventura, CA he just requires 10% weightloss prior to pre op psych eval and nutrition eval. Which I have scheduled in November hoping that's all medi-cal will need to approve me! I'm so anxious

My insurance does not require anything but to meet the BMI guidelines which I do meet hoping on my next appt he brings up surgery date he did mention the process would b about 3 months but didn't know if that mention surgery wise.. Thanks for ur guys input

From the day of your consultation to the day of surgery how long did it take? Feeling anxious as my surgeon was very vague on the whole surgery part

Went for my consultation and basically went like a seminar about how and what surgery is he didn't really mention if I was or wasn't a candidate BMI is at 39.4 I have Gold Coast health plan more like medi-cal the rules are the same to qualify I know but he is asking for 10% weightloss by next appt and an appt with psych and dietician which are scheduled after my weight update does that mean I am in the process of surgery? So confused, how was ur experience?

So I have been trying on my own as well as with my PCP to lose weight and only lose a couple and gain it back I finally convinced him to refer me to a surgeon since I have been really reading into it and i know it is something I need. Well since I have California medi-cal my appt with the surgeon is not until 9/16 what is this going to entitle? Will I still have to do another supervised diet? Will he just start planning for surgery? Have a lot of questions and feel so anxious as others can relate I see other succeed and I want to be part of it! Hoping for the best
