  1. thanks moosictcher it makes a difference to know that someone understands and it sounds very very similar! i am a big coward when it comes to medical things and tend to panic on weekends! thanks for posting... if you are doing ok with it then i can too! this place is such a big help! t
  2. i agree with sades and greeneyez... i'm 47... i wish i'd done this sooner. i hope it goes well and remember you are doing the liquid diet for your own health and wellbeing... that's what kept me motivated. to make recovery from surgery as easy as possible. good luck t
  3. ps anyone who says this is the easy way out has gotta be kidding....
  4. so it's normal to have wound pain that really hurts when you move? mine's like that and i'm feeling a bit scared, depressed and alone rght now. t 2 days out from banding
  5. hi all just wondered if someone couldhelp. i was banded 48 hrs ago and feel ok except for what feels like tearing at one end of my port incision when i move around. i had something similar when i had my gall bladder out, so of course i've done nothing, and now it's the weekend and i wondered if i should go to an after hours doc or something. i'm not taking any pain meds, and slept ok last night. it's just when i move around. it's like a hot searing pain. thanks t
  6. i;m home and done too. i'm doing ok with the gas, but my port site gives me pain at one end. it sucks. i thought i might feel better by now, but i guess it's only 48 hours since i went into surgery. maybe tomrrow i'll feel more human. t
  7. thanks for posting srbanker. i'm going in in 2 hours and was worried about having the hernia done at the same time... good to know you're doing ok! t
  8. i think having second thoughts is normal cherry_blue. i have one more sleep, ie i go in tomorrow, and i've been a bit antsy the last few days. hang in there, and i hope it all goes well! t
  9. me too smr100 and saleel22. lets hope we all do well and are posting soon after  t
  10. good luck aprilbene... mine is on wed 16th. i am allowed a light Breakfast on the day of the surgery cos it's in the afternoon! finally... toast! t
  11. it isnt easy Lauren, i just try to remind myself this is a one-time only thing.. although yesterday was really hard... i thought the last couple of days would be easy (getting to the op) but it's not. i concur with going to bed  i did that a lot during the first few days. it does get easier after a few days. i was told day 4, but for me i didnt feel better til day 6. now i'm stressing a little cos i havent lost anything for 3 days... but i figure my body is now totally in hibernation mode cos it's been living on nothing for 2.5 weeks and my metabolism has probably ground to a halt. this time in 2 days, i'll be heading to the hospital! good luck lauren and pm me if you want to chat. t
  12. i've been on it 2.5 weeks now, and the only cheating i've done is had a handful of almonds every day... for some reason, i just cant live without them. i get nervous every now and then wondering if they are "carbs" and if i've screwed everything up (surgery on wed), but i have lost 9kg, so i figure i havent done too badly. t
  13. yeah if only we could fastfoward 3 weeks... and be on the other side! but it is really helpful to have this forum! t
  14. thanks for this, i'm getting banded next wed 16th and i'm starting to get nervous. didnt help that i had nightmares about it last night. i'm scared too cos they are doing a hernia repair at the same time... but reading all the posts here, i know it will be worth it longterm. t
  15. that's awful. sending you hugs. god i feel bad for you.
  16. hiya i'm 47 and i'm getting banded on the 16th. nice to meet you other 40's  t
  17. you CAN do it. i've had trouble sleeping because of hunger pains... i am getting through and you can too! good luck
  18. play solitaire on the computer... do anything to get your mind off it. you CAN do this. dont give up now. t
  19. Hi wendy100 i've been on optifast for 11 days now and it's incredibly hard. i am hungry a lot in the afternoon and evenings... to the point where i have trouble getting to sleep. i have got around this onthe odd day by having an extra bar.. i figure the diff between 3 and 4 optifast meals cant really make that much difference, particularly since i started a few days early - but then my surgeon didnt say i "have" to lose a certain amount. good luck with it. i know it's hard. t
  20. Hiya I'm on the 16th too. Nice to see others on the same day ! I'm a bit scared, but knowing others will be doing it that day too helps. t
  21. Fantastic... well done. You are an inspiration! t
  22. This frightens me too because i"ve had whooping cough twice in the last three years...yeah, i know the docs say it's not possibile, but it is. I have the blood tests to confirm it. And whooping cough involves a LOT of vomiting from the coughing. So now i'm guessing worst case, they will just take the fill out if I go through it again. t
  23. I totally agree with these comments.. how often are we criticised for being "lazy" because we havent "done anything about being overweight", yet the minute we "do" something ie lapband surgery we are "taking the easy way out" i say to them... whatya want? for me to do something or not?
  24. HI Poodlecamper I'm doing the Optifast pre-op thing. Today is my 6th day and the first day i've felt quite good. I get 3 shakes or bars a day and 2cups of some vegetables. I've been pretty hungry, especially at night. i've been using diet jelly and yesterday i actually had one extra bar cos i thought i was gunna cry with hunger! I have 15 more days of this to go. from reading other posts i figure it's worth it to do it properly. so that's what i'm trying to do. hang in there. t
  25. Hey Cherryblue i'm getting banded on the 16th Jan too. Hope it goes well. thistledo
