  1. Mine isn't new, but I just updated it 30 minutes ago and it seemed to work fine. Maybe because yours are new there is a glitch?:confused2:
  2. It has been an exciting time for me with all of the life changing events we have experienced in the last 4 weeks. We retired from the military, bought a house, got a great civilian job, went on a 10 day vacation and GOT BANDED!!! Since starting on the pre-op diet and then having surgery I have lost 27 lbs. and have dropped two pant sizes. I put up my clothes when I got too big for them last year and said when I get surgery I'll be able to wear them. It has only been 2 and a half weeks and I have waited TOO long for someof them. I skipped right past them. I am not complaing, just observing. God has blessed us in so many ways and the best one is that I feel I am getting my health back. We are doing 3-4 miles per day and the doctor said I can start to lift again this week if I take it easy...no crunches. I haven't eaten perfectly, but my husband said I am eating very little, but I feel like a pig. I was able to put on my D.H.'s ACU (Army uniform) shirt and zip it up. IT IS A SMALL!!!! The pants can't even go to my thighs yet...but they will someday!

  4. Please make sure you drink as much as possible up to the amount your doctor told you, because I couldn't get enough in and my kidneys are starting to shut down. My dr. scolded me. I didn't realize what was happening to me. I called his office and said I was concerned about losing so much so fast, but no one put it together until I told the dr. that I could go all day without urinating and had been over a week without a bm. I am doing all I can to drink now, but it has been 3 days and I can finally trickle a few times a day. Please be careful.
  5. Are you sure your liver will shrink doing your own thing? I know my Dr. said if my liver wasn't small enough held sew me back up without the band. I wasnlt willing to gamble. Even if yours would still do it, he could slice your liver if it isn't able to be folded over like a pancake could be. Big gamble for the most important day of your NEW life.
  6. I am kind of scared. I can't get all of my shakes in. I am down 23 lbs and 11 of those are since the 4th. I feel ok. I have been up and gone every evening. I just don't want to be losing my hair or some silly thing. When you say gas pain is it in between your breast through to your back? I am glad you are feeling well.
  7. That is great about the no pain. I am sore like I did 500 situps and a pain in my sternum through to my back that sometimes gets severe. I am still taking my pain meds.
  8. I can feel your pain. I was on my pre-op diet when I got an infection. it went from may 29 to july 3. I am happy, because they thought it would be late aug. one more day for you and two more for me. best wishes. we will be fine.
  9. I am from Jackson, but we are stationed in Virginia. I miss the seasons. We came home a year ago late April and got snowed in. AAHH...good times.lol
  10. Too cool. I am going to banded on the 3rd too. I was to be may 29th, until I got an infection in my jaw. Are you on a pre-op diet?

I have just been told from the Dr.'s office that it will now be the end of July if I am lucky before I am rescheduled. That is another 2 months. All becasue of an infection in my jaw that I am sure I would be cleared for in time for my original date of next week. I have talked with my husband and decided that I can't put my life on hold any longer. It has been 6 months. Now to wait another 2 is silly. I am down 12 lbs from the 8 days of pre-op diet. I am going to run with it. I am going to try to lose all I can. I can only lose 3 lbs in 2 months or I don't qualify. I have put off going to work until I had the surgery. We are retiring in September from the military and I told my DH I would get a job. Now it would be late August instead of Mid-late June. I am trying to do what God wants, but I am not sure right now what that is.:confused2:

  13. Thank you both so much. Yes, I am glad I went to the dentist too. I could have died because of this just like I told Mandi Jo on her blog that she could have. I guess God wants me to practice what I preach. If I had gone below on my pre-op diet that would have been fine, but now I am a "new" patient again and have to have a recheck of my physical at the surgeon's office and if I don't still have a BMI of 35 or higher, THEN, I am not a canidate, according to my insurance. He said he still has to report my last appointment's weight to them.
  14. God is great! I could have been in surgery this morning. The doctor offered to move my date up to today because he had an opening. I wanted to with all of my heart, but my wonderful husband said "we have vacation this weekend and you wouldn't be able to go". I said that was ok and he sure didn't like that. The doctor said I can't be greedy and I need to put other people's needs ahead of mine sometimes. I didn't like him saying that. I left my date as 5-29-08. I have been on my liver shrinking diet for 8 days so far. I have lost 10 lbs. My BMI is down to 36.5. Now where the trouble comes in. I had a little toothache on Monday and by Tuesday night my jaw felt a little funny. When my DH came home I asked him if it was swollen. He very quickly said yes. He never admits he can see something wrong with me so I thought...OH NO:ohmy:! I went and look and sure enough I am swollen. I went to the dentist today and they gave me antibiotics and I called my surgeon's office. They said I had to canel until I was released by the dentist. IF the infection is gone on the 28th...day before my "surgery", I can get him to release me and then call for a new appoinment for surgery. Well, they had to book me 10 weeks out the first time and I pray that won't have to do that again. I have a Latex allergy, so I have to be the first one of the day. To compound the matter. SInce I have lost the 10 lbs I can only lose 9 more and I will not be eligible for surgery due too low of a BMI. God is great and I hope I passed His test with flying colors:Angel_anim:...no cursing:cursing:, no yelling:argue:, no depression:sad_smile:, no WHY ME  and best of all no food:Banane59:. I haven't eaten anything in the last 9 hours and I have been going through this for the last 5 hours. I will restart my pre-op diet 2 weeks before surgery...again...whenever that is.

    Good for you honey!

Anne, You really need to stick to what you were instructed to do by your doctor. You aren't following the cardinal rules of Lapband and angry it isn't working. You aren't measuring, and only eating the 4 oz. If you are drinking with your meal you know it won't stay in the pouch long enough to satisfy you. Yes you need will power. I hope the best for you. Even if you had the Bypass there would be rules to adhere to and you might not chose to do those either. Make the best of what you have. I am saying all of this with a good heart. I don't want any of us to fail. I expect all of you to keep me honest if I falter. Good luck.

  20. Hi, It is a surgery where the left side of your stomach is removed leaving it to look like a banana.
  21. Count me in! I get banded on May 29th, so I'll only be walking for a while, but I'd love to help keep you accountable. I am on the pre-op diet right now and could stand some accountability too.
  22. I just walked in from meeting my surgeon. I have two weeks until surgery. I told him I was doing the "STUPID" Liver Shrinking Diet and he about went off! He let me know in no uncertain terms that if I don't do it I might not have surgery. He explained that if the liver is not as small as possible he could possibly cut it. If he can't get enough room to work he can't go forward. He said a lady the other day only lost four lbs. He asked her if she did the diet and she said "kinda". He said when he opened her up her liver was too large to continue safely. I don't want to be that lady! I will be on it for 15 days. Today is day 3. It isn't impossible, but very difficult. I hope you do yours if they ask you to.
  23. Awesome Pix, I am on my pre-op diet and I can understand completely. Keep up the good work!
  24. Mandi Jo, Congrats!!! You might be a Jazzy June, but you and I are only 4 days apart. This will be great! Feel better soon! Donita Jo
