  1. I also had my surgery July 16. I was on Clear Liquids for a week, but was unable to drink any of the Protein drinks because I'm pretty sure it caused dumping syndrome for me, even in small amounts. Instead, I drank plain greek yogurt mixed with Water, about 2 Tbsp at a time for a week. I've just started eating 2-3 Tbsp of cottage cheese or watered down refried Beans, 3 times a day. I tried scrambled eggs a couple days ago (ate a quarter of one egg) and felt uncomfortably full. I also drink about 2/3 of a G2 and have a couple sugar free popsicles a day. I've gotten above 200 calories once in all these days. My biggest problem is getting tired easily, which is an obstacle because I also have two little kids and a husband who is gone for the summer. I'm allowing myself to take it as easy as I can, figuring everything non-essential can wait. I'm active normally because of my kids' activities, so I'm not burdening myself with trying to exercise while I'm eating so few calories.

    Cash pay?

I just had mine done on July 16th in Orange, CA for $9,800. Of that, surgeon fee was $4,000, anesthesiologist was $500, outpatient center with 23 hour stay and private nurse and room assistant was $5,300.
  3. I was approved for an emergency band removal by insurance and was going to pay cash for a revision during the removal. My doctor saw me Tuesday and wanted me scheduled for surgery this coming Monday, specifically because my husband is gone all summer and I had my parents here for 2 weeks to help me. Today, they were supposed to call with surgery day instructions. Instead, they didn't return my call until 4:00 and said they hadn't put me on te schedule because "they didn't know what the doctor was thinking, scheduling me so quickly." I explained his reasoning (he KNOWS my husband and the circumstances and he was very sincere in wanting to accommodate our circumstances.). They said they'd call back by 6:00. Never heard back and now it's 8:00???? I don't suppose there's any hope they will call over the weekend, so I guess I'm not having my revision. I'm so, so devastated. The earliest I can see having it done now at this point is late November. ????
  4. I.V. pain medication makes me vomit. I'm really worried about this happening immediately after surgery. Has anyone had this happen? And can it cause problems with your sleeve? Or is it really not that big of a deal?

    Vomitting after surgery

Thank you! This is all very reassuring. I will make sure to talk to the anesthesiologist about the nausea before surgery. I didn't realize there were options like the nausea patch. Good to know!

    Let's talk about teeth..and stuff

I have to brush my teeth immediately after a shake because the taste and feel is yucky to me. I also get that metallic taste in my mouth from ketosis that I'm sure gives me stinky breath. It's turned me a bit OCD about teeth brushing a LOT????
  7. Congratulations and nice to see you are feeling alert and relatively pain free so soon after surgery!

    Before and After Sleeve Scars

This my big incision from my lap band surgery 3 years ago. It was 3 inches across. I had two others that were less thank an inch, but I can't even find them anymore. If my sleeve scars end up looking the same 3 years from my upcoming revision, I'll be happy????

    MUST HAVES FOR SURGERY DAY

I plan to take gas x, Chapstick, socks, a couple changes of undies (this will be my 6th abdominal surgery and I've found that sneezing/coughing don't always end favorably when my belly is sore), toothbrush/toothpaste/mouthwash, and my kindle.

    Out patient or not

Mine will be outpatient at the surgery center across the street from our hospital, but I will arrive at 9am, they will keep me for 23 hours, and I will leave at 8am the next day, so technically it is an overnight. I'm self-pay, so they said that makes it significantly less expensive for me.
  14. Elode, I guess you were right...phones do work on weekends! I wasn't expecting anyone would call during off-hours. They are going to fit me in during lunch on Tuesday, even though it is his non-surgery day, and will rearrange appointments if needed. The doctor was pretty upset over the way things were handled. I'm super relieved! So, now I have Tuesday to look forward to

    So I've noticed...

When I lost 100 lbs after my first pregnancy, I definitely noticed strangers being more willing to strike up conversation with me, hold doors, ask if I needed help, etc. At my lowest weight, in a 0 dress size, I also remember trying so hard to talk with other moms at dance class and being completely shunned. I've never had trouble making friends, so it was confusing to me...until one mom told me a couple years later that she had secretly hated me for always looking so cute LOL. Then, as I rapidly regained weight with my second pregnancy, I noticed my invisibility to strangers returning and other moms no longer hated me. Having been on both sides, I can understand how it must be hard to watch another woman accomplish what you want so desperately for yourself. When I had the band and my friend had the sleeve, it was pretty depressing to see her melt away, while I struggled with pain and further weight gain. I'm not sure how it will be this time. I've only told my 3 best friends what I am doing and don't plan on seeing anyone for over a month, when my kids start school again.

    Let's Talk About Feet Baby

Best luck to you on Monday! That's when I have mine, too. Having lost 100 lbs previously, my feet went from a snug 7.5 to a 6.5/7. I never had chubby feet, either, so I was pretty surprised. When I gained my weight back, I went back to a 7.5. I'm super glad going into this surgery that I saved all my "skinny shoes" and will be able to wear them again????

    July sleevers?

I just had my appointment with my surgeon yesterday for a revision from a band. He scheduled me for July 13! I'm super excited, but a little nervous I'm in over my head because I have two little girls and my husband is gone for the summer.
