Who do you need to forgive?
I am not so sure about this word called "forgiveness" I have made peace inside myself over certain things that have happened in my life but I cannot say that I have totally forgiven anyone (or want to). I have taken certain steps to confront the people who ripped my world apart and felt so very much peace after confronting them, having my say and then leaving the ball in their court. I was continually raped by my brother from the time I was seven until I was seventeen. (He was much older than I). I confronted my mother about this 13 years ago and I was no longer allowed in her life. She went to her death bed two years ago still living the lie. Three years ago I wrote a letter to my bastard brother confronting him with everything he had done to me. I felt a certain peace come over me. Most of the horrid anger I had pent up eased it's way out of me. I have had no family contact since 1996. It's the way it has to be in order to save myself and keep my children away from demented family members. I attribute a lot of my weight gain to the stress of living without my family of origin. But, I am now truly happy. I have brought people into my life that have filled the void and I am blessed. Total forgiveness? I don't think so!!!!!!!!

June line up
Good luck to all who are going through their surgery today and this week. Speedy recovery and a happy band life to all. Hey Kathystrick....what is your pre-op diet. I started mine last week and have 8 days to go. I hate to say this but I am not minding the diet. I have all clear, sugar free liquids with the exception of a protien drink in the morning. I will do anything just to get this done and on the road to a new life. I think the thing that saves me on this diet is the chicken broth. I worry about the sodium in it so will head to town to get some low sodium broth. Hang in there, Kathy. It will be over b/4 you know it.

SO NOW I am anorexic?? I hate people...
I have one to add to this. While you are in the middle of one of the above, look at this person's shoes, up to their tummy and then back down to their shoes again. Say "hummmmmm" and walk away. It's something my mother taught me along time ago when I would get teased about my weight.

Thursday, June 5th...I'm sooo nervous!!! HELP!
I am only home about three days a week. I spend Thursday noon through Monday morning at my lake place from April through end of October. Just bought a lap top and need to get set up at the lake. I guess I have missed posting lately on this thread for some reason. Are we going to make this thread the "go to" for checking in and following up? I didn't notice you were so close to your surgery date. Want to wish you luck and God Bless. Hope your recovery time is easy and that your lap band life is successful. Thank you for keeping the Jazzy Junes together and motivated. I am on my second day of my 14 day pre-op diet. (all liquids) I will have to say that I am a BOW (bitch on wheels). I just pop in and out of home. When I feel the BOW feeling...I head back to the lake!

Thursday, June 5th...I'm sooo nervous!!! HELP!
Mekadig..wishing you luck tomorrow. I will be banded on the 17th and those exact feelings hit me two days ago. They have passed. I had a friend freak out (had not told her about LB b/4 last Sat.) this weekend about me having this surgery. Got the big ole' lecture. I think that's what set off my anxiety attack. But, did a lot of thinking and I am sure of my decision to have the LB and have been sure for over a year now. These types of feelings hit and you just need to calm yourself the best you can. I wish you luck with your recovery and LB future. The lap band will work if you help it along. God Bless.

No nonsense approach to weight loss
Sorry Grace, don't mean to hijack.. Jachut, I appreciate your approach. What's wrong with sharing? I can only speak for myself but the no B.S. approach needs to be thrown in there also

OMG! WTH! OUCH-sorry long
Sorry for what you went through but happy to hear it was not something serious with your band. I am sure that is the first thing you thought of when you started having symptoms. Hope you have a quick recovery!

Alcohol ?
Thanks for your explanation. I, too, like to have a couple socially. I usually plan ahead during the week and tweak my diet to allow the extra calories if I know I might have a drink or two on the weekend.

preop-surgery-postop advice
EricaLyn...I did offend the OP with the way I worded my post and apologized. I flew off the handle and posted in haste. The reason we are all on this journey is because most of us have failed many times attempting to lose this weight. The one and only way that I can see success in this is to follow the rules provided by my dr. and the basic lap band rules.

preop-surgery-postop advice
OK OK...so maybe I could have chosen a better word than "shame". I did not post to tear you to shreds and sorry if you took it that way. It just drives me nuts when I see posts similar to yours that convey the message "I cheated and I'm OK so do it if you want to". (Not a direct quote). Yes, there are many different pre-op diets out there and each and everyone should be ENCOURAGED to stick to what their dr. states should be done pre-op and post-op. Sorry if I offended you.

why are people such HATERS!!!!???
GG and Diz...thanks for the encouragement. I am a strong person and have taken three years to prepare for this surgery. It's getting so close and that is affecting me. Believe me, by the time I lay down to sleep tonight, I will have everything sorted through. That last comment from my friend just brought everything to a head. She proved she does not know anything about what I am dealing with here. She stated that this is no different than Gastric Bypass and that it is proven not to work in the long run and that the risks are really great. Just irritated me to no end. I will be fine and thanks for your concern!

preop-surgery-postop advice
Latebloomer...happy things worked out for you but I am having a difficult time with you gloating about your pre-op diet cheating. I don't want to sound harsh but I would feel shame in encouraging others to do the same. I wish you continued success on your post-op diet. I hope you have better luck than with your pre-op.

Alcohol ?
When you say you are having a hard time with it....does that mean your system is not tolerating the alcohol? Would you mind explaining. I like to have a drink once in awhile and would love to continue after surgery. But, if I end up not being able to tolerate it, I will give it up:mad2:

June line up
Thanks for the encouraging words, Kerry. And good luck this week with handling your own stress. Pretty sure I am somewhat of a mess because I got negative crap from two friends over the weekend about my decision to have this surgery. Just got me into emotional overload. I am going to go out in the field and ride a few rounds in the tractor with my husband ant talk. He has a way of bringing me back around. Good luck on your liquids. I start tomorrow.

why are people such HATERS!!!!???
gg....I had a similar conversation with a good friend over the weekend. Her negative reaction to me having this surgery has sent me into an emotional tail spin. I have two short weeks b/4 my surgery and now I wish I would have never told her what I am up to. I have been choking back tears and crying since Sat. evening when we had our discussion. (Or, should I say, she had her discussion).

OK Kids....Not sure what is wrong with me today but I am an emotional wreck!!!!!!! Surgery is two weeks away and weepy and choked up today. Anyone else go through this prior to their date?

Social Group created for 6 month supervised dieters.
What a great idea, Froggi. Nice to have others to rely on that are going through the same thing. And others might jump in with advice that are no longer doing the diet.

In Honor of Yesterday
I cannot hardly see through the tears. God Bless each and everyone of our soldiers and their family and friends.

I will do that, Drew and thanks for your concern. You just gotta love 'em all for what they do!

Jazzy Junes 2008...What do you do? Where are you from?
Welcome everyone. Nice to get to know you a little. I hope we can remain a close group throughout this journey. It will be so nice to make new friendships and travel this together. Want to wish everyone luck that is having surgery next week. Lets all "band" together and keep updated on everyone's progress. I don't know about the rest of you guys but I think this will be one of the best roads ever traveled for me!!!!!!!!!!!
