  1. I also think visually seeing what you are eating helps too. If you can see the calories and carbs in those items you are eating it might make it easy to let them go. Also, your progress so far is great. Don't let those carbs hold you back from your goals.
  2. @@Lara.x I think it comes down to personal preference. I like Loseit. A lot of people use MyFitnessPal. Lifesum is another option Download a few and try them.
  3. Start tracking your food in an app. Knowing how much Protein and calories you are intaking really helps. Your weight loss is going to start slowing down soon, so you are going to need to know your macro nutrients so you can adjust things. I eat 100-120g of protein a day. I have no room for carbs that aren't veggies or dairy. I eat the veggies for Fiber and the dairy for fat/protein. Every food you eat should be helping you meet your goals at this point. Also there are lots of low carb substitutions for so many items. Look into those. But please start tracking your food, it helps so much.
  4. Just keep your Protein high. My hair shed like crazy but as soon as it stopped, it started coming back very rapidly. Focus on creating an environment for regrowth, trying to stop the shedding is pointless. There are a ton of threads on hair, if you use search you might find some good suggestions.
  5. Watermelon has the more sugar than a lot of other melons, if someone wants fruit, there are better options. It is not a low carb fruit. Just because it isn't as high as a pineapple or a banana doesn't mean its low carb. Not to mention it has basically no Protein. We are talking about a person fresh from surgery, not someone in maintenance. @@JMarshall Even right some surgery, Water melon is going to basically be a slider food. Full of sugar, and no protein. Any weight loss patient could sit and eat an entire watermelon if they wanted if they don't dump. It is going down a slippery slope very early on.
  6. @@crazyplantlady You aren't going to get a lot of good hair/skin/nail responses on this site. Google Biotin and Acne and you will get tons of hits. It is a very common and well known side effect.
  7. @@FlabbyNat Prior to having surgery, when I wanted to make my hair grow rapidly I would up my Protein intake. I currently eat between 100-120g of protein a day. My hair is growing back very rapidly. @@glitter eyes Has some great suggestions. Collagen and bamboo tea are cheap, and easily absorbed by the body and don't have the side effects of things like Biotin and they will help you with hair and skin. Collagen will also help you boost your protein intake. Make sure your Iron and zinc levels are good. If you are low on iron, you are going to have a tough time growing hair.
  8. @@floflo1973 A lot of people don't lose rapidly until 6 weeks post-op. I lost the most weight months 3-6. Just stick to your plan. Most of your stomach is missing, your muscles have been cut, your body is freaking out and most of its energy is going to repairing itself. The weight loss will come.
  9. It isn't low carb though at all. No one fresh from surgery should be sucking down that much sugar. After surgery when I wanted fruit, I made that flavor sugar free Jello and that satisfied my cravings. This is your time to maximize weight loss, not indulge in your cravings.
  10. If I had to pay out of pocket, I would go to Mexico no question. Just make sure you pick the right doctor. You don't really see your surgeon after surgery in the US either with most surgeons. You see their PA. So don't let that be your deciding factor. Once the surgery is over, the Surgeon is basically done with you.
  11. Watermelon is high in sugar. Here are some better fruit options
  12. Congrats! Being "normal" is fun! I randomly try on 1/2 a store in normal sizes just to make sure it is real. This is so much fun. It makes up for all the hard work.
  13. What is your BMI? You don't have any of your information filled out. Are you around 40 BMI?
  14. Every time some one asks about waist training it's the same thing. If you want a lot of support from the board, ask about cheating on your spouse or dumping them because they are still fat and the support will roll in. Just don't take it serious. If you want to ask about things beauty related weight-loss surgery boards are the worst place. You have so many people that hate themselves and on top of hating themselves they have neglected themselves for years. So they are middle aged trying to learn about fashion, hair and makeup. If you want to talk about looking good and being pretty this isn't the place.
  15. These are the only hair Vitamins that don't make me break out. http://m.sephora.com/product/P2884?icid2=phyto_lp_bestsellers_carousel Just don't take them with Iron, they have zinc. So take them a few hours away from you iron.
  16. I refuse to ever take Biotin again. It always breaks me out even if i chug Water. People take it because it is cheap. I would rather take a more costly Vitamin that does the job, like Phyto, and avoid the breakouts.
  17. I wish I listened to my grandmother and always wore a real girdle. I would have never got so fat. Spanx are complete BS. They don't provide enough control at all. I can definitely say that wear shapewear helps a lot. My hourglass shape is really coming along and my fats in the back are flattening out. That kind of extreme waist training is bad for people, but there are a lot of benefits to wear firm control shapewear. I plan on having plastics eventually but until I am going to exhaust all options.
  18. That's perfect! My only concern is that I'm in the beginning stages of weight loss. Tomorrow marks 4 weeks for me as a matter of fact. Do I need to wait on items such as this until I get closer to goal or a few months out? Or go ahead and begin utilizing it now? I'm going to the gym at this point for cardio and will be released from weight/lifting restrictions in 2 more weeks. Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App I wouldn't suggest wearing neoprene unless you can get 64 ounces of water or more in a day, you will sweat a lot. I didn't start doing any "extra" stuff until past 6 months.
  19. Wearing a neoprene suit while working out can be beneficial. They make you sweat though, so you have to be really good with Water. I am really flabby right now so I basically wear compression or shapewear all day to be comfortable. I have to wear compression garments to work out and stop my skin/stomach from flopping around. I have one similar to this... http://www.amazon.com/Topmelon-Women-Neoprene-Double-Green-8003/dp/B014GVQIAY/ref=sr_1_6?srs=9156348011&ie=UTF8&qid=1461600520&sr=8-6&keywords=sport i wear it when I work out and around the house, I have a cream I use with it and it has helped with my skin and my back rolls. Waist training with boning is a real no no. I for someone who has had WLS it will increase GERD.
  20. @@sgc You aren't back where you were. The thing that people have to understand is once you are healed, basically after 6 months. If you have the free time and the dedication you can sit all day and eat. If you choose to eat slider foods, you can eat tons of it. Lots of cake, Cookies and ice cream. The sleeve limits your portions but with dedication you can still over eat, and people who are binge eaters and don't resolve that before surgery will still be binge eaters. Surgery won't fix you, you have to fix you. If you have learned to eat properly, you won't do that, you will focus on Protein. If you don't do the mental work, you will be a sleeve failure. Just look on youtube and you will find plenty.
  21. I already told you that you can eat chicken wings and even gave you a zero carb recipe to do it. They taste exactly like fried except they aren't. No one is saying you can't have a piece of cake at a party. The thing is after surgery, a lot of people find they aren't even interested in that cake. If you really change your habits your entire attitude about food changes.
  22. The went to be early every night on pre-op and got up late. I also only watched Fat Doctor (UK). Pre-op sucks, flat out.
  23. What people are trying to explain to you is that you can eat other things and not feel deprived. I don't eat Oreos for example, never have they are trash. I like real baked goods made from scratch. I still make baked goods from scratch, they are just sugar free and low carb. If I want something sweet and fast I can grab a Protein bar, the Oh Yeah One bars taste like candy, with 1g of sugar and 22 g of protein. If you change your relationship with food you don't feel deprived. The biggest part of losing weight is a mental fight. Long before I had surgery, I gave up alcohol, just for personal reasons. I don't drink and I don't feel deprived because alcohol doesn't interest me. When I drink in a social situation, I just take a few sips and stop because I am bored. It just doesn't interest me. Like cheap men, I'll pass.
  24. Once you are over 2x the normal BMI like I was for 20 years, there is no easy way to lose weight. This is still really hard. My motivation to have surgery was health related. I went from being a healthy fat person to my health rapidly declining at a young age. I felt like I didn't have time to take chances on trying to lose weight once again without surgery. I don't have any negatives. food doesn't rule my life anymore which is pretty awesome. All this obsessing you are doing about food, is what I was like a few years ago. Once I got to the point my health was sliding, what I could eat was the least of my concerns. I wanted to be healthy. The improved health came first. Looking good in my new slutty clothes is just a side bonus. It is the thing that keeps me motivated because I can visibly see it every day and enjoy the benefits. Lower blood pressure while awesome doesn't pay off in the same way. No matter how you lose weight, surgery or not, it is all a head game. You have to be in the right mental space to make it happen.
