  1. Good luck!! Hope it all went well!!
  2. I'm not sure how you can handle 14 days liquid pre op and post op! I only have to do three! I'm so glad!
  3. I'm nervous about recovering quickly and being able to eat and drink sufficiently to go back to work. I'm also nervous about blood clots. I've had a dvt before so I'm scared it will happen again. Talked to the surgeon about it though and they are aware and taking precautions. He says I should be just fine! How about you?
  4. I would like in the Facebook group. I joined the Julyers page when I thought it would be this summer and it's awesome. But would really like to be on a page with peopleWho are at the same stage as me. I think if u give me the name of the group I can search and request to join.
  5. 7 weeks from Tuesday! I tried to get it done this summer. I'm a teacher, so that would have been soooo much better! But all the approvals and paperwork didn't get done in time. They told me I could do it next week, but that's my first week back. So I opted for Oct when we have a four day weekend. Less sick days to use!
  6. I'm having my surgery on Oct 6th in St Louis at Des Peres Hospital.
  7. I'm on October 6th! Pretty close! I'm so excited and nervous at the same time!
  8. I guess it is what it is. It's going to be obvious when I start dropping weight fast. Probably can't hide it. But I don't blame you with your mother. I wouldn't go there either! Good luck!
  9. I've been told to start exercising, so far I've just been walking. I've also "tried" to start eating more Protein and less carbs. Some days that is easier than others.
  10. Mine is October 6th also!
  11. This is so true! They are good friends of mine. And a couple of them know. But we had a parent do it and a few made comments about how they can't believe anyone would do it. They love food too much. Blah blah! I just didn't want to listen to it! I know I can't keep that secret forever from them. Just trying to hold out as long as possible! I sure hope I'm able to go back as soon as you! That would be great!
  12. Unfortunately I had my gallbladder out a few years ago and they all know that! Because I thought that would have been a great excuse!
  13. I am in the exact same boat. Some of my coworkers are like family also, but I'm not sure how they will handle this news and I don't want to hear it! Not sure what to say! I know they will be asking why I'm going to be off work.
  14. I am a teacher and was originally doing this over the summer. That didn't happen. Now I'm taking two weeks off school to do this! I didn't want to tell many people, especially at first. A few of my friends at work know, most don't. I know when they find out I'm taking off work they will all be asking why. And let me just state that I am pretty close with some of them, but worried about how they will react. So I guess I'm wondering what suggestions anyone has for me to say to them when they ask why I'm going to be gone? Any help is appreciated!
  15. Yes congrats to all of you! I originally thought I would be a Julyer, but it didn't happen! But I'm excited to be getting it sometime soon. And I love reading all of your posts and learning through you!!
  16. Update: I got my approval letter today from the insurance company!! I called the dr's office. I was told to fax it to them and a nurse would call and schedule surgery. So now I wait in that! But at least I'm approved!!
  17. Ugh! That's why I wanted it towards the beginning of summer!!
  18. Ok. Just walked a mile! A little tough, but we just got home a week ago to a week long trip to Boston where we walked a ton! That about did me in!! So I think that helped with this one. Going to keep it up in hopes this surgery happens soon and because it is just better for me than sitting on my tush!
  19. Oh yeah. I think we already discussed this! I forgot! Lol! Yep! Same practice!
  20. I live about 50 minutes east of St Louis! Just was surprised to see you say FairSTL! Christmas break was my next choice if the doc will work close to the holiday!Where did you go in St Louis for yours?
  21. Thank you! I'm still hoping it's going to happen! Better to be prepared than not!
  22. Our music teacher had it done last August and she said the first week back was rough, but she made it. Of course she teaches music and I teach first graders!!
  23. My room is air conditioned. I do stand a lot but could probably sit more for the first week or so if I had to. I have a pretty high pain tolerance. I have to to and live with pain all the time. Lol!
  24. I go back to school the 17th of August. What do you think is the last possible date for surgery where I would be good enough to go back to work that day! No students that day or the next. Students on Wednesday the 19th. I was thinking Aug 7th is my last chance! What do you think?
  25. Good news! I called Blue Cross today and after 4 people and over an hour on the phone, they were able to tell me that my papers were there for approval, but they had been put in the wrong place!! So it was good that I called them!! Why is everything a struggle?! Now we have to see how long for approval and if they can actually get me in within the next two weeks. Doubtful. But I'll just wait it out and see!
