  1. I had the MGBP or Omega Loop as it is also called, also had the gastric sleeve at the same time. Couldn't be happier. It was done on 19 Jan '16. It's now over 6 weeks - It has taken me time to regain my energy but that was expected and my doctor said it would happen. Listen to the doctor you can trust. I trust mine but he is a cautious person and always errs on the side of patient safety and eventual longterm good outcomes. But as he advised it is a tool - you abuse it and it will stretch. No acid reflux whatsoever. I had a gastric band previously and had it removed 6 moths prior to the new op. Good luck with your decision. Eve, Adelaide, Australia

  3. It's 2 weeks yesterday since the operation. I spent 6 nights in hospital. This was my choice though. My dr was happy to let me stay the extra day. He usually says 4 -5 days. I started a new post 'string' is that the word about Mind - Space and Freedom From. I'll try and find it and add it in. Basically it's about the fact that I had this moment - on the Wednesday a week after the operation and I'd been out of hospital only a day and a half - of elation - that I was free from thinking about food all the time, from the guilt of overeating to the shame of my size even though I had a 'good' front to fool people I was confident - even fooled myself some of the time. Gastric band Dec 2009 128 Kilos 2012 Got down to 107 then had to have the port replaced due to a leak Never really got it working again well. Had suspected thyroid trouble - used homeopathy treatment - went down to 99 kilos. Went on grain free diet for a year, no milk. Got down to 89 kilos. Last two years with no restriction in the band I had great difficulty getting food down - no cause found using gastroscopy Had band removed July 2015. Had single anastomosis gastric sleeve with gastric bypass (Omega Loop)Jan 19, 2016. Went into hospital at 114.8k now 108.8. BUT AS I SAID BEFORE it's about the head space not continually thinking about food etc that has been the most amazing discovery! Yours Eve
  4. MGBP due to be done 19/1/16 and plan to get a fitbit before that please add me to your list. eveallen@adam.com.au
  5. There is a great book Your Complete Guide to Nutrition for Weight Loss Surgery written by and Australian Nutritionist Sally Johnston. Her web site is www.nfwls.com. The book is broken into parts for surgery types, preparing for surgery, recovering for surgery, living with WLS and more. The recipes are excellent and easy to follow. It's not cheap but it so worth it because it helps you with a lifetime journey of best practice eating after WLS. Hope you can get it. Eve from Adelaide, South Australia
  6. Hi Trevor, I'm in Australia too, Adelaide, My journey sounds almost the same as yours. My lap band 2009 but a variety of issues over the period with it. Had it removed 6 months ago and on Jan 19 I'm having an Omega Loop (single anastomosis gastric bypass). I got down to about 90k then regained to get to 115 now . So I'm on the prep diet now for two weeks until I go to hospital. I wish you luck. Let me know how you are doing, Yours Eve
  7. Hi my name's Eve. I live in Australia and seems most of this is American - though I did grow up in Calif. I can't advise you yes or no except to get you to ask yourself this question....what can I gain from saying yes, and what can I lose from saying yes? Fold a piece of paper down and the middle and do the pros and cons and you're likely to get the answer from you're heart not your head. Good luck I've had a gastric band and waiting to have an Omega Loop on Jan 19 - YEA only 7 weeks to go.
