They moved my surgery to tomorrow!

just had my VSG surgery last Thursday, and I was nervous & excited too. I'd had surgery before, but not elective. The support you will get is amazing, and they do this all the time. Best advice I can give you is to do everything like they tell you, use the pain meds, sip Water, do your breathing exercises and walk. Walking is the best for the gas and the gas is the really uncomfortable part after surgery. Don't be afraid to ask the nurses for help and advice - they are good friends in the process. You are going to be great - and starting a new path to health and care for yourself. I just had to keep thinking about the "why" ....it helped me with the low points and hopefully it will help you through the temporary discomforts. I'm not much further ahead of you - but I am excited for you!

Pre-op is boring - but within 3 days after surgery there is some variety ( not that I have any interest in food at all). During my pre-op I added broths for dinner so it felt like I was having Soup with something warm. And added some fruit to my Protein Shakes and blended. As long as you aren't adding a lot of fruit calories, add some berries to a chocolate shake may make it a little more interesting. I'm not much further ahead of you - but I am excited for you!

    Getting sleeved in the morning!

I just had my VSG on Thursday 4//23 at noon! So I am glad to find someone at the same exact stage as myself:) My surgery was at noon, and my night nurse was very young & busy. But that was the only bumps in the recovery at the hospital - by the time I left I was walking up and down the hall. How are you doing at home? Have you started your pureed foods? Yesterday, I started with yogurt and scrambled eggs. And going to work for a few hours, but expecting to be tired this afternoon. Smart that you are taking this time to take care of you and your body. Sounds like you are doing great! Have a wonderful day!

So far today I have had greek yogurt, protein shake, 1/2 scrambled egg, protein shake, and more greek yogurt. Thinking maybe up to 400 calories. Trying to get all the liquid in. Any great suggestions for first week meals?

I'm started to read that others have to be on liquids for a while after surgery. Food, I must say is not appealing! I just am doing mostly protein shakes and light pureed stuff until day 14.
