  1. Congrats to you all and good luck on your journeys. I can feel the enthusiasm exploding from your posts and I cannot wait to get started myself!!
  2. Has anyone used him for surgery and if so what are your thoughts?
  3. Hang in there rebirth, I had insurance issues as well with my doctors office and it all worked out. You will do great and the fact you are committed to do what you have to do in order to get approved shows you are determined...Best of luck to you!!!
  4. What was the reason for denial the first time? Good luck!!
  5. Woo Hoo! Congrats!!
  6. Thank calculator is a bit wacky...it had me weighing more at 18 months than at 12 months...either way it was nteresting.
  7. Haven't struggled with BC/BS but will definitely say that it seemed to take forever and now its going fast. Take this time to prepare and be ready. Hang in there it will be here before you know it!
  8. Had initial consult on 1/29/15, did all the pre-work and got approval 4/24/15. Had one hiccup in the middle.
  9. So I had heard that the process goes fast then slow then fast again. Well its true! I was so excited when I went for my consult on January 29th of this year and began the journey to surgery. I went to do my required pre-op and psych evaluation. I retrieved all my paperwork from my pcp and get everything turned in. Then disaster happened, the person handling my pre-cert went out on maternity leave early and the person taking over dropped the ball every way it could be dropped. My wonderful husband took up the baton and went to the insurance company and got them to overturn their denial due to lack of information and now I am approved!! I am so excited again and the clock is running faster again. Can't wait to get my surgery date and get moving. I have lost 28 pounds so far pre-surgery and am looking forward to losing many more!! Any advice and encouragement is appreciated and I look forward to talking with you all through-out my journey! Word of advice to pre-surgical folks. Be your own advocate and stay on top of your insurance and surgeons office. They have many patients to look after and you can fall through the cracks!
  10. Hello everyone and hope you are all well! My name is Cindy and I just joined the forum today. I am 51 years old and wish I had begun this process a long time ago. I have been overweight my whole life. I rarely dieted but did try 2-3 times to lose weight and the most I lost was 80 pounds before hitting the dreaded plateau that lasted for over a year resulting in me giving up of course. Giving up resulted in gaining back what I had lost. I went for my consult January 29, 2015 and am still waiting for my insurance pre-certification. Long story short my doctors office dropped the ball and my time limit elapsed with my insurance. I am now seeing the nutritionist for 3 visits and will hopefully have the Gastric Sleeve in July-August. I have done tons of research and have gone to 3 support group meetings so far. I started at 331 in December 2014 and am now 303...figured I would try to get a jump start on the whole thing! I have hypertension, high cholesterol and diabetes. I am doing this to save my life. I am doing this also because I was divorced and met the love of my life and we got married in 2012. I want to have a long life with him as we found each other so late in life. I want to be able to do more, shop more places and feel better with more energy. I love the Water but never learned to swim, so that is a goal. I love being outdoors but can't dress coolly and that is another goal. There are too many to list here and I am sure you all understand. I love to read, watch movies, play with my dogs, play with my step-sons, laugh and have fun with my husband. He is so supportive and has gone to my support group meetings with me. He tells me the same thing that he wants me around for a long time. I love to make jewelry at the basic level, crochet and learn things. I have had sedentary hobbies and I am looking forward to more active ones...lol I will be back with questions I am sure and love to share so I will post as I go along.
