  1. Insurances are all different. My first submission to Cigna was denied based on a stupid misunderstanding of 3 months vs 89+ days. Cigna says it has 15 business days to make a decision. I received my approval on the 15th day. You haven't hit your 15 days yet , so I wouldn't worry. Best of Luck to you. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
  2. My surgery date is March 29. I'm also terrified. But comparing where I am in life right now with where I know this surgery will bring me, I know I am making the right choice. My neuro-surgeon was the doctor who finally suggested it .After multiple spine surgeries , his diagnosis was my back is "wrecked " and more surgery is not warranted. I also have numerous other health issues and am missing out on a lot of life. I prayed I'd never have to have another surgery, but I know this is going to be life changing in a positive way. I asked myself if I could/wanted to live basically house bound for the next 20 years. Ask yourself if the life you are living will be ok for 10, 20, 30 years . If the answer is no, then you will have your decision. If you are ok to go on with the same lifestyle, then you are not ready. Best of luck regardless of your decision. 3. I recently received a denial letter from my insurance based on this exact subject. My insurance required "3 months" of visits. I did 3 visits about month apart, paperwork was submitted by the doctors office and we thought we were good to go. Then came the denial letter that said I hadn't met the 89+ days of following my dietician. What The Heck ? This is from Cigna insurance, not a fly by night. I would call your insurance just in case. If Cigna had made it clear they would have saved themselves money as I would have scheduled my appointments differently. It would have also saved my doctors staff time and saved me anxiety when I received the denial. Doctors rushed me in for appointments and we got approval within 2 weeks. Surgery scheduled for March 29 ! Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
  4. I also have Cigna. They say 15 business days. Double & Triple check your dietician and physical therapy dates. Cigna originally told me 3 months of appointments then denied my surgery. The reason they gave was because I didn't have 89+ days of nutrition & PT counseling . Well, we all thought that 3 months met the requirement but they are very firm on that 89+ days. My doctors got me right in and resubmitted immediately . I received go ahead within the 15 days. Very picky, it cost them extra appointments. Good Luck.
