Any June sleevers?
Me too! I'm really excited about having the surgery but super scared about being put out to sleep and waking up at the other end.

Sleeve or Bypass? Decisions, Decisions
Thanks everyone for all you advise. I too have about 140lbs to lose so it's great to hear from someone in. Similar position. Once I had the band removed the reflux stopped immediately and I've not suffered at all since. I am due to have an endoscope in May to check for a hernia and for my surgeon to check my insides after having previous lap band surgery. I am swaying more and more each day to have the sleeve as I believe that the only complication am likely to have is the reflux reoccurring. However with the bypass I have a huge list of complications that may arise in the short and long term plus the malabsorption. I'm sure I will be filling you all in on my decision soon enough.

Band to Sleeve with tertiary contractions------anyone else?
I am in exactly the same boat however I already have my band removed. I experienced the exactly same symptoms that you have described with the band however mine slipped due to the consent vomiting. I don't want to have a sleeve if the reflux is to return but then don't want RNY is it's unnecessary.

Unsupportive Mom :(
I won't be telling my mum. We don't live in the same country so it will be easier for me to keep it a secret. I will be 13 weeks post op before I see her again and I'm hoping she will be happy that I have lost weight as she is my biggest critic.

Did anyone NOT tell their job about surgery?
I won't be telling my work about the surgery. I also require hernia repair which is the reason I will be giving them. The only person I have confided in is my husband. At present I don't even want to inform other family members. We live in a different country to all our family so they won't see me in the recovery stages. I will be 13 weeks post op before my family see me again and then I will make a decision if I tell them.

Impatiently waiting...June sleevers?
Hi All, joined as a newbie today ????. I am 33 years old, 322lb and live in Dubai so I'm a self pay. I saw my surgeon for the first time on 13th April and surgery is scheduled for 22nd June as I want to see the school year out. I also have an endoscope booked for 4th May. So excited and my mind is racing all the time, constantly researching and watching videos on YouTube.

Sleeve or Bypass? Decisions, Decisions
Thank you Michelle. This was exactly my thought. I think I need to speak to my surgeon again. He has said that it is my choice to have either a sleeve or RNY.

Sleeve or Bypass? Decisions, Decisions
Dear All, I am a newbie to this website. I have previously had lap band surgery in 2008 which resulted in extreme pain and discomfort from acid reflex. Eventually my band slipped due to the constant vomiting and was removed in March 2011. Since then I have not suffered at all with acid reflux however all my weight and more has returned. I am now considering further bariatric surgery and I went to see a specialist in Dubai on Monday. I was swaying towards Gastric Bypass as I am 33 years old with no medical issues at all and I wanted the 'Gold Service'. I don't take any medication but weigh in at 147.9kgs (very lucky my weight does not affect my health). My doctor wants me to have the Gastric Sleeve as it is less invasive, less complications down the way and I don't have any illnesses that need to be resolved. I, on the other hand am very worried about the acid reflux (that I experienced with the lap band) returning and eventually having RNY surgery. I want this to (hopefully) be my last bariatric surgery. What would you recommend???
