  1. Scheduled for this Monday the 13th. Nervous but excited. Lost 18 lbs in pre-op and I didn't think the diet was too hard to adjust to.
  2. Update! My surgeon switched me to a GVS procedure from a band procedure AND moved the surgery date to this coming Monday. I had done my band research and now am scrambling to get sleeve information. Lost 18 pounds in pre op phase which pleased the surgeon.
  3. Surgeon switched me from a Band procedure next Thursday the 16th to a Sleeve procedure on Monday the 13th. Have lots of learning to do before Monday.
  4. The directions from my clinic say to consume 25 gr of Benifiber a day. I am still on pre op diet (surgery 4/16/15) and my body won't tolerate that much Benifiber. Horrible you know what for a day. The directions on the package say 2tsp=3gr Fiber. Thus by my calculations that's 17tsp's of Benifiber a day. I divided that amount equally between two 32oz Water bottles so that I would be getting on my 64 oz of water a day. Anyone else take Benifiber in pre op and post op phases? How much Benifiber do you take?
  5. Well, today is the consent signing day, weigh in, and pre surgery meeting with Dr. Joyce. Surgery is next Thursday. A little scary but exciting to begin this journey. The pre-op diet has been fairly easy. That surprised me! I would be ready tomorrow if the chance came up.
  6. Starting New, Thanks, that was my problem. I got the profile completed.
  7. I need some guidance in completing my profile - namely my doctor's name, current weight, target weight, etc. where do I put that information in? I tried "Profile" and it wasn't there.
  8. Anxious to read your book. I am a 72 year old male scheduled for banding surgery 4/16/15. Am starting this process later in life. Starting weight 268 lbs. down to 254 lbs after 1 st week of pre op diet. Hoping to get off blood pressure, cholesterol, and CPAP machine by the time the weight is off. Also hoping knee pain is reduced. Walking a mile a day pre op.
  9. Greetings, Wishing you a great recovery. My banding is 4/16/15. Excited but nervous.
  10. Hi everyone, I am almost half way through the 14 day pre-op phase with banding scheduled in 9 days. The diet hasn't been too bad. Two Protein shakes as two Meal Replacements and one meal of 4 oz protein and a 1/2 cup of cooked vegetables for third meal. Have lost about 15 pounds since I first had my consultation with the surgeon a month ago. Just wanted to say "Hi", and am reading all the interesting comments on this forum. I have to be honest. From reading about Banding on other sites I was ready to cancel the surgery. The information was so negative about Adjustable Gastric Banding. Until I found this forum where there were so many success stories I was really down. I can't have sleeve or bypass because of my age (72) - or I should say my surgeon wouldn't consider them because of recovery from complication concerns. Anyway, I see my surgeon in 3 days to sign consent forms and weigh in before surgery next week. Excited but nervous - especially about the risks of band slippage. Caio, JB
