????Any May Gastric Bypass peeps????
I am finding this thread a little late, but it's nice to find so many people at the same stage after the same surgery. I had by bypass 6 weeks ago today. I have been doing phenomenally well until this week. I think I got a little too cocky with new foods and didn't think about introducing veggies that are naturally high in sugar. Two days ago I had peas and suffered a lot after just a few bites. And then last night I had a terrible episode after two bites of corn on the cob. I should have known better. Today, I'm taking a break and having just yogurt and protein shakes.

How could I have been so stupid?
I had gastric bypass 6 weeks ago today. I have had very little problems introducing solid foods. So I started to get a little cocky -- a couple of days ago I had peas for the first time. I had a LOT of pain and gas. I was wondering what that was all about -- "Could that have been 'dumping syndrome'?" Last night, I had corn on the cob. After two bites, I decided to not have any more. Well thank goodness for some common sense! I really suffered discomfort, gas, and nausea - this time after about an hour of fighting it, I finally lost my dinner (which instantly relieved all my suffering). What was I thinking? Peas? Corn? Two veggies with a lot of sugar -- surprise, surprise I was having problems. I guess I'm not invincible!

No energy 3 weeks post op
I'm six weeks out. My energy level goes up and down. Don't expect your energy level to rise in a straight line. As with most things in life, we all have our ups and downs.

Am I really that vain?
Someone noticed! A friend at work who I haven't seen in a while said, "Something's different about you. Have you been losing weight?" I was thrilled, but of course didn't want her to know how over the moon I was by her comment. I simply said in reply that I've working hard at it and it was nice of her to notice. I've been smiling ever since!

Am I really that vain?
Wow, you're all being so nice to me! Too bad I don't work with any of you! (FYI: I have been wearing well-fitted clothes (clothes that had previously gotten too snug).)

Am I really that vain?
I am so please that at 5 weeks post surgery I've lost 39 lbs (since I've started this journey). I feel so much better, it's amazing! However not one person outside of my family has noticed that I've lost weight. I realize that I'm 5'11" and proportionally that's not as much than if I was 5'2", but still I'm disappointed. I know, I know that I didn't do this for the reaction I'd get, but it still bugs me. I have to laugh though because I really didn't want to share with others that I've had the surgery -- I got my wish didn't I?

Wich is better
I was all set on having a sleeve. The by-pass seemed like too much rearranging of my insides -- I wanted simple. Then I found out that since I had a hiatal hernia, the sleeve was not a good idea -- essentially, I was told that I would likely always suffer from heartburn and have to take medication. Well, my long-term goal is to get rid of all my medication (except for vitamins). Plus the doctor convinced me that it has a long history and is considered to be the "gold standard" when it comes to WLS. I'm now 5 weeks out and am doing much better than I thought I would at this point.

Who have you told about your surgery?
@@sleeve32 - If you don't want to talk about it, that's okay with me - what are your reasons for keeping it quiet?

Who have you told about your surgery?
When I started this journey in January, I decided I was only going to share with my husband, 2 teenagers, and sister. But now that my surgery date is a week away and I've started my pre-op diet, I think I need to tell at least one friend. I need someone to talk to about this. I wonder if my reluctance to share is because despite my rational argument that having WLS is a positive thing, I'm still feeling like I'm somehow a failure by not doing this on my own without surgery. I know, I know (I can hear you now) - I would be a failure if I did not have WLS. But still, the feeling persists....

Am I the only one with a one-day pre-op diet?
I'm halfway through my first day or a week-long pre-op diet, and I'm already struggling. All I can think about is how hungry I am. I know it's suppose to improve after a couple of days, but how will I make it that long? I don't mean to sound too dramatic. I will make it -- this is soooo important to me. But it makes me feel better to whine :-)

Having a hard time 1st day liquid diet
Today is my first day of my pre-op diet, too. Time can't pass quickly enough for me!
