I am 3 weeks post op. I've been out atleast 10 times. I always go to a place where they have soups, (Jason's Deli, Panera Bread, Chinese Restaurants, etc...) I normally get chicken noodle or a broth... wonton soup, egg drop soup, etc. I normally ask for more broth than noodles or veggies, and find myself struggling to eat 1/3 of the soup. I sometimes leave it, or take it home, but I never finish it. And I have yet to drink the water. I'm still new at this, but hopefully it will get easier. I agree with the post - wait staff have looked at me funny when I ask for water but don't touch it. I feel bad and find myself explaining like hey, I had surgery and need to take it easy. Then I get a somewhat sympathetic look, like ohhh, okay I get it. But, I'm hoping soon that I will just be comfortable not giving an explanation at all.
Hope this helps, best of luck to you.
