    March 2015 Sleevers

Had my surgery on friday the 27th so today is day 4 post-op. Day of surgery I think I literally slept 90% of the day I think the only things I woke up for was to go to the bathroom and to request medication. I woke up from surgery with heart burn and I guess they couldnt give me anything for that till about 24hrs after surgery so I had heart burn the whole time. (The pain medication did help relieve the discomfort but the heart burn was there the whole time.) Day 2 I would say is probably the worst day so far. I was tired the whole day extremely groggy and the discomfort of water hitting my stomach isnt so pleasant. Its like what every I drank stop just at the top of my stomach and it was like a funal. And when water would go in it felt like bubbles would come out. I also had a couple of moments when I started to dry heave slightly but I got it under control. Thankfully! I was also released this day I wana say maybe 28 hrs post op. day 3 was a little better still I was groggy. But my nausea improved and I was able to be in my own home which always makes me happier. I also took a shower on the evening of the 3rd day. So it was deffinently a little better. Day 4 (today) when I take my med I do get sleepy bit I have been awake the whole day today with the exception of a 1hr nap that I laid down for. I haven't had any nausea today and my indigestion and heartburn seems to be Easily managed with my heart burn prescription and Gas X strips. My big problem is I am having hard time balancing when to drink water and when to get my protein in. I didnt eat anything the first day. When I got home from the hospital I had about 1oz of my protein shake. And then I had water , on day 3 I had maybe 4-6 oz of protein shake the whole day and I had a couple of bits of jello which the texture grosses me out so I stopped. And today day 4 ive had about 2 oz of protein shake. And water. I dont know how to balance out my water and protein im so worried about not getting the water I need that I put off everything else. Im not sure what to do becuase I dont wana loose weight this way its not healthy. Tomorrow I just need to start with my protein maybe that will help.
  3. Ok ive been on my pre-open diet for 1 week today, and im am not having regular BM's i usually am pretty regular so this is bothering me alot! Has anybody else had this issue? My biggest concern is after having surgery (of any kind) there is typically constipation due to medication. I am really feeling worried about have this issue even more severely if im not foing regularly before surgery. I was going maybe ever other day for most of the week but now i havnt hone for two days. I think ill probably contact my doctor and ask about taking miralax or something. Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem?

Well tomorrow is my day. I am feeling rather nervous and I little scared but im ready. Here we come 6am arrival followed by an 8am surgery. Praying for a text book procedure followed by a quick recovery.
  5. I have a couple of questions i have been wondering about pertaining to my surgery with is in two days. 1. ti\his may be an odd question, Are you catheterized for this procedure? if so how long till it is taking out? 2.how long till you can put clothes on?I hate being stuck in a hospital gown to long. 3. does maybe 1 family member come in to the recovery room? I know those aren't that serious but i have been wondering I've only had c-sections in the past so Im trying to figure out what i can expect since sleeve surgery is very different. Thanks!
  6. I noticed the days I had more sodium I was having trouble with BMs I try to only have 2 ups of broth a day 1 for lunch usually and then 1 at dinner time.

Fairfield area, having surgery on Friday march 27th. At UC health in West Chester with Dr. Thompson.
  9. well I'm glad I'm not the only one who seemed to be slowed down in that department. I guess i just didn't expect that kind of reaction from a liquid diet.
  10. Im drink about 100gm a day. things seem to be moving more regular now, ive mostly just been trying to make sure I get all my water in. It seem to make all the difference. Thanks for sharing that though at least there is a reason!

Same problem here I should have started monday and I just keep praying it comes already, I think the stress and pressure of everything has made me late. I have my surgery in one week, next friday morning. Fingers crossed I start with in the next day! It is nice to know im not the only one concerned about this. Ive literally been thinking about this for the two weeks!
  12. I weighed myself this morning and Ive lost about 8lbs im on day 7 of my 14 day prep diet. My docter has me on a 800 cal. Diet which consists of 5 protein drinks a day and I can have 2 sf popsicles and 1 sf jello cup along with broth. (Liquid diet) I did cheat on day 5 and I had a Wendys small chile, I still stayed under my calories for the day but I will say the scale went up a few oz that next morning (I think I had aalot of sodium that day) and its not on my approved list of food for preop my starting BMI 41-42

    March Sleevers

Hello, Just joined this group because i am having terrible anxiety about my upcoming surgery, which is on 3/27/2015. I am very excited but i think my excitement is taking the back burner to my anxiety. I find my self up at 4 or 5 in the morning just running though so many things in my head. I am a self pay patents so my first consultations was in early February. I don't know if its because everything is happening so fast or because i haven't gone through months of monitoring, but I am so afraid that I am going to fail. I have watched youtube videos, read comments on support pages, and asked my doctor questions, but nothing has really put me at ease. I think I feel unprepared. I am about to start my pre-liquid diet on Friday and haven't even got my Protein supplement, which I will get before Friday but its just another stress. Anyway This is my last hope so the fear of failing is very really. I know I have to put in lots of work and I am more then willing to do that but I am worried that old habits will come back in a year or 2 yrs that what i keep reading at least. Anyway and thoughts and advice are welcome!
