  1. Haven't taken pain meds since Surgery day on the 18th!
  2. I did today also! But my cycle started before I left the hospital Wednesday so just to get over this hurdle would be amazing!
  3. Surgery tomorrow & I am officially freaking out!
  4. My surgery date is May 18 I am in Houston...Good luck to everyone!!!!
  5. YES I GOT APPROVED AND MY SURGERY DATE IS 5/18 NOW I AM JUST WONDERING HOW MUCH OUT OF POCKET I WILL HAVE TO PAY. I PAY 30% OF WHATEVER THE COST IS I THINK WITH MY INSURANCE. HOPEFULLY IT DIDNT BLOW MY MIND....
  6. @@spiritfilled I have BCBS of Texas and it took less than a week to get approved. They have the least requirements out of most insurances, just a Psychological Evaluation and 1 nutritionist visit but I believe your BMI has to be over 38 or 39 but that may be with a co morbidity
  7. Hope all went well @FlabbyNat keep us Houston people posted!!!!
  8. I have BCBS of Texas, and I only had to have a certain BMI, a psy eval, and one nutritionist visit and I was approved. I know each BCBS is different, hope this helps.
  9. @Aria622 me too! I love being able to connect with people in the same city!
  10. @llali82 I hated Dr Now office, and I hated his nurse even more. He is so slow and their office is so unorganized! My first visit with him was weird he came in asked me about my weight issues over the years and told me to read this packet everyday. He also performed my endo...they told me to arrive at the hospital at 6 he didn't show up until 11. I just didn't feel right with him! Congrats also on your surgery, How are you doing?
  11. @@dbrown156 and I was trying hard to get him as my surgeon I've heard great things about him but knowing that I would have left I cant stand unprofessional workers especially dealing with my health.
  12. @@dbrown156 that's good, that was my issues, I wanted to find a place that seem to care, and True Results was great at first but after the 1st visit they really don't care, now they are blowing my phone up because I refuse to communicate with them.
  13. I'm in Houston also! I started the process on 3/3 and will be having surgery 5/11 (hopefully) I was only required to do one nutrition visit and a psy eval with Blue Cross of Tx I started out with True Results-Hated their lack of communication then went to Dr Now (from the TLC show my 600 lbs life)- office was way to unorganized Went to see my current doctor whom I love Dr Mehta with UT physicians and he used all of my testing from the prior doctors. Only thing I had to do was see his nutritionist and get approved which didn't take long.
  14. Just wondering what everyone's Protein Shake of choice is?
  15. @@JaneJaneDoe that's one of my worries...no one at my job knows and I want to keep it that way... Praying all goes well for me and others on here. Thanks for you all feedback!
  16. Congrats @MerissaMack I cant wait until I get to that point! Thank you all for your feedback!
  17. I switched surgeons twice because of lack of organization. I was like if you work like this you may re-arrange my insides...I couldn't deal with it. Luckily my new surgeon accepted a lot of the prior testing from the previous surgeons (edg, psy eval etc.) My thing is I wanted to be comfortable with who I picked. If you are uncomfortable leave! Good luck!
  18. Thanks! I am pretty much healthy also besides the weight and the majority of my day is sitting and we have been sorta slow so I am hoping at least the first week back will be slow and I can just go home and rest.
  19. I am still waiting on my letter to come in the mail. How long did it take before you received yours? @@Teebaby
  20. @@Aranks awesome! I have about a month to figure it out, trying to get as much insight as possible! Thanks
  21. @@Aranks I am so glad you brought that up. I was wondering how was the scars for people who went back within 2 weeks. What did you wear. We can pretty much wear jeans everyday, so I am trying to figure out what I can buy to wear or cover my scars up with in order to put on clothes?
  22. Does FMLA kick in after you have used all over your days, or is that short term disability? I haven't been with my company for 12 months yet and I was reading where it stated FMA is for someone who has been with the company for 12 months....so I am kinda unsure. I do have 3 weeks of vacations I just didn't want to use that up. Maybe I will take a week and a couple of days. Thanks for all of your feedback!!!!!
  23. @iwant2becurvynotlumpy I am n Houston, and I am using Dr. Sheilendra Mehta (UT Physicians). I went to 2 different Doctors before I chose him. Dr. Fernando Miranda and Dr. Younan Nowzaradan. Dr. Mehta was the first surgeon to actually sit down with me and TALK to me. He didn't not walk in and tell me what he tell every patient. He asked me questions, he told me the good and the bad, and told me that no matter what I choose he feel I will succeed. He has a good track record. His nurse and patient advocate is amazing. And the office is really organized, which was one of the reasons why I left the other two doctors. And organized office says a lot to me. Whomever you choose just make sure you are comfortable that is what I was looking for I wanted to be happy when I left. I haven't had my surgery yet (hopefully in May) but I don't feel uneasy about him performing it. Good luck!
  24. Just wondering... Is a week off of work ok????? The oil & gas industry is real shaky right now and I don't want to be a risk of losing my job. I sit a desk the majority of the day except when I get up to go to the printer, restroom, take a break etc. How long did you take off? If you took off a week were you ok, did it put any type of strain on your body???
