  1. Try to find Syntrax Protein powders. Vitamin Shoppe carries it in 2 lb. jars... 39.95. You can order it online -- cheapest I found was 31.95. Great flavors -- I use the vanilla Torte (and add flavors to that... yum), Fuzzy Navel, Roadside Lemonade, Lemon Tea. I'm getting ready to order the chocolate Truffle. These are really good -- will probably use these even when I'm off full liquids.
  2. Wow... run as fast as you can AWAY from that practice. Find a surgeon and practice that will welcome questions and concerns and has your best health and progress in mind. If that surgeon is the only game in town... research the nearest metro area or find a support group where you can talk to someone that can give you some leads for a caring physician. Don't give up!
  3. Hang in there, kiddo! Understand your family wants the best for you and may have only heard the horror stories about people... not about the thousands of successes that have happened. Educate yourself about the procedure, the physician, the journey it will take to get to a surgery date. Check your insurance company for coverage... and most important, find an ally that will support you. Find a support group where you can access like-minded weight loss surgery individuals that will let you honestly know about their results. Ask questions and learn as much as you can before you choose a surgeon. You can also ask your primary care physician about a recommended doc for the procedure. Your primary care doc is a valuable asset toward helping you toward your goal. Good luck!!
  4. I understand about enjoying a beverage every once in awhile -- my surgeon Dr. Steven Boyce of Knoxville, TN says NO alcohol for one year. Sorry! He said the alcohol is processed differently after surgery. So -- no single malt for me for awhile. And I wanted this procedure for so long, I'm following his advice.
  5. Dr. Steven Boyce did my sleeve at Turkey Creek Medical Center on 2/9/15. New Life Bariatric Center is where all my appts. w/dr. and staff were held. Wonderful experience from start to finish. Was in the hospital for about 24 hours. Great team of people -- in his office and at the hospital. Doing great -- no complications. Going back to work on Monday. He has performed over 4000 of weight loss procedures and was recognized as one of the Doctors of Note in Knoxville in 2014. Can't say enough about his exceptional care and attention to detail of this physician. No shortcuts -- great care!!
