Long Term VSG Sleevers?
Keep me posted on your date. What type of foods are you eating now? Are the gas pains gone? TIA Honestly I didn't have much gas pains. I stayed on water only for 2 days post op though. It was my choice to do so. I didn't feel hungry and water worked for me. I have bloating issues but I have had them since way before I had my surgery. I am Hashimoto's Hypothyroid and bloating, constipation and other gut issues are a norm for me. As far as gas, I get it on occasion but feel it is due to my hypo. As for food.....I am slowly introducing solids to my diet but only at night. I have a protein shake for lunch and breakfast and some type of solid soft food at night at home that way if my body doesn't like it I am where I need to be to deal with it. Protein drinks are a huge staple for me. Getting enough protein is pertinent and with just 2 a day, I am getting 86 grams of protein. What shakes are you using? http://www.amazon.com/MET-Rx-Protein-Plus-RTD-51/dp/B002XDRCX0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1429767760&sr=8-1&keywords=met+rx+protein+shakes and http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002XULC9I/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Long Term VSG Sleevers?
@@aishajusteasha I am a huge researcher and made my decision rather quickly but had been researching many surgeons during my process. Dr. M was fabulous and I am pretty much healed up. No pain and weight is coming off. I have been working since a week post op with no issues whatsoever.

Long Term VSG Sleevers?
So hi everyone. I am truly sorry that I have been slow at giving y'all an update on my surgery, but I had an issue to deal with work and I ended up having to go in for 2 days to get things settled. Okay so on to my Mexico surgery with Dr. Maytorena. Ruben was waiting for me when I got to TJ on Wednesday morning, went directly to get my labs and then went straight to the clinic because my surgery was for the same day. The clinic was small and quaint and I was greeted by nurses smiling and welcoming me. It was clean with super comfy beds. While waiting for the cardiologist to come in, I was able to just relax and rest which I actually enjoyed. Once the cardiologist came in and did his thing (took maybe 10 minutes or so), the Anesthesiologist came in and was very reassuring. He said that he had done many of these surgeries and was very experienced and that I had nothing to worry about that he was going to take great care of me. Then shortly thereafter Dr. Maytorena came in and let me just say that he is probably one of the nicest people that I have ever met. He told me directly that this surgery was part of the solution but the other part would be determined by what I put into it. He was realistic and honest. I appreciated that. Shortly after I was taken into surgery. Next thing I know I was back in my recovery area and feeling fine. I rested for the rest of the evening and night and when I woke up on Thursday, I was up and walking and talking and hanging out with the nurses. I felt fine. I had very little pain medication and was given my antibiotics right on time. My nurses were super awesome and I loved each of the the employees there. The lady that did the cleaning was just wonderful and every single one of them checked on me regularly. I had a leak test which was just fine on Thursday and again on Friday before I went home. I was also given a video of my surgery and not let me forget that my resident doctor was awesome as well. I was released on Friday and taken back to the border and drove home. The surgery center is JL Prado and the owners are Ismael and Juan Luis. Both of them are so very nice. They checked in on me every single day more than once and made sure that I was 100% comfortable. I loved it and there are no short cuts when it comes to care. The center is small but they are expanding and it is going to be huge. Highest weight-----263 Surgery weight-------244 Current Weight----------236.3

Long Term VSG Sleevers?
I just returned from Tijuana after being sleeved by Dr. Maytorena. I am tired as I literally just got home but I will make it a point to provide an update of how my surgery went.

So Close Yet So Far Away
@@Jesser They don't penalize for that but the finance fees are ridiculous. I am just going to reschedule and do it Wednesday. I'll come home on Sunday and start my new job Monday. Since the first few days of training are sitting in a conference room, I should be okay. So Wednesday it is.

So Close Yet So Far Away
As many of y'all that have read my post know I have been waiting on my tax refund to get my surgery. It has finally been settled and is set up to be directly deposited into my account on Wednesday. Yay for that as I filed all the way back on Feb. 2nd. Took them long enough that is for sure. Of course it would come a couple of days after I need it. I was hoping to have my surgery Monday. LOL This is because I start the training for my new job the following Monday and need time to of course recover. I would borrow the money from some random finance company but no one wants to finance for only a week. LOL I don't do credit cards either. I did offer a friend a very nice deal if they are willing to do it for me. Hopefully they will accept. Just venting.....

I got that in an email. I am kind of bummed about it. The idea of being able to have surgery with Dr. Illan for less money was appealing. Such is life.

On the site, it says that Dr. Illan is one of the doctors doing it at this price. I've seen several posts about this doctor with good reviews. Not sure myself but it does seem a little too good to be true.

I Have a Date. February 26th (Tentative)
@@JamieLogical Yes that is indeed my dilemma. So I made the decision to reschedule until March 11th. I want to have peace of mind when I go to Mexico. For my own sanity, this is the best choice for me. So now I have 16 days to make sure I have everything worked out. Its going to make for a long pre-op diet though. Thanks for responding. It means a lot.

I Have a Date. February 26th (Tentative)
@@JamieLogical I really failed on explaining my situation. I was kind of walking myself through it as I typed. I relocated to California from Tennessee almost 2 years ago. I am a single mom and have a 12 and 16 year old. Both are involved in things at school. These were things that I needed to account for since I would be leaving the country for a few days. Basically my kids extracurricular activities may affect my surgery date.

I Have a Date. February 26th (Tentative)
Oh my I got up this morning feeling quite down. My surgery is supposed to happen Thursday, but it looks like I may have to postpone it a couple of days. Being a single mom with 2 older kids involved in things at school is interesting but at times, puts a damper on things I'm doing for myself. I really don't know why I am whining. At least I still get to get it done and worst case scenario the delay would be a week or so at most. Since I've already started the pre-op diet and that is going well I don't want to change it up. The idea of doing even more days of the diet is saddening. I'm okay but it is hard to do liquid only at this point. I don't want to go back to eating regular food only to have to start the diet again. Any ideas?

If you went to mexico for your gastric sleeve surgery, who was your doctor and how much did it cost?
Mine is tentatively on the 26th of this month. The info I have is from people I know personally. I did request information on here but not to much avail. What made me choose my doctor is his experience, reviews by people that I know, his staple procedure....triple staples and sew over to prevent leakage, and the fact that he does 3 leak checks. Those things are very important to me. He also doesn't do a ton of surgeries each day. I hope that helps you out a bit.

February/March 2015 Self Payers in Mexico
Hi everyone. Is there anyone that will be staying at the Hotel Pueblo Amigo around February 26th? I have my surgery that day and am unsure if I will make the trip the day before or the day of surgery especially since I am going alone. I don't have to fly in as Tijuana is 2 hours and 40 minutes from my house. I'm just going to be parking near the border and being picked up. I am going with Medical Tourism Company. I'd love a sleeve buddy.

Protein Shakes-What brand do you use?
Thanks y'all for all of the great advice. I'm willing to try it all to avoid any hiccups after the surgery. I am not a shopper so the less of that I have to do the better. I'm 11 days until my surgery and am an over-preparer. I start my pre-op diet on Thursday. I am not dreading it at all. It is my new start and one I have longed for all too long.

Protein Shakes-What brand do you use?
Hi everyone. It is almost time for me to start my pre-op diet and I am indecisive on what Protein shakes/powder I want to buy. I have been provided information but would like to hear what others are using. Also, I would like to possibly get one that could work pre-op and post-op. Your insight is greatly appreciated.
