  7. There is a a private Facebook page for people from Canberra who have had their sleeve or who are having. It is a good support page - we meet once a month at someones home. People going are at all different stages in this journey. If you would like to join please friend me on Facebook - I am Maureen Tolley. I just need to introduce you to the group and need to know if you have had it or planning to have the operation. Cheers Maureen

  12. Well done yeseyecodeye - your story is inspirational - Loved to read about your journey. I have my surgery on Monday 16 Feb and not so nervous now but hope and think the two weeks before the surgery is the worse - cannot bear to look at another vegetable at the moment. Have my nervous moments and hoping I am doing the right thing. Keep up the good work
  13. I have five more sleeps and I just cannot look at another optislim meal or vegetable. Tonight I lost it - just drinking Water and chewing gum. My husband is such a wonderful support - took me for a walk to try to help me. He will do anything to help me. I am more positive now about the op after reading all your story's and preparations. I know have a fantastic surgeon and spoke with the nurses from the ward and anaesthetic team today and they are so supportive. I know we will all do well. Any suggestions to get over this dislike of vegetables and Optislim at this time. I am normally a lover of veggies but to eat them morning noon and night!!! Thank you all to Minnigirl, Matida, Newlife@55, and LLB2015 and everyone else that has written. We are a strong team and need to forge forward. Maureen
  14. I am only on day 3 of my preparation prior to my Sleeve. Wondering if there is anyone from Canberra on this site.
  15. Thank you borg/assimilated - thinking of you today. I hope your surgery goes well too.
  16. Thank you very much for your reply Sophieteel
  17. Thank you Minniegirl - I think we have similar feelings. I read your earlier post. Good luck - lets try and catch up on the other side of the operation. I am having the operation in Canberra, in Australia. My weight etc is incorrect on my profile as I am actually 129kgs which is 284 pounds. I have to try and get that fixed. Cheers
  18. Also my details are incorrect - how do I change those details - I am actually 129 Kgs not pounds.
  19. Forgot to ask how do I find responses if I can any as this is the fourth message and they all seem to go into the ether.
  20. Hi I am new to the forum - I am 63 years old and having a gastric sleeve on 16 February 15. I am getting very anxious - trying to do all sorts of things to take my mind off the operation. Are there many over 60's that have had the sleeve and how are you going today. I have been investigating and planning this for about 2 years and made my mind up late last year. I have read a lot of comments from people who have gone through the same emotions but somehow it feels a little better writing it down. I am rambling I know it. I wonder how I will get through the next two weeks on the Optifast preparation regime. I am this size because I have never been the best at sticking to a new regime. I have many supportive friends and family and my husband is so good. With regard to exercise - how soon do you think most people would be able to go back to the gym - I do go to the gym and plan to use my membership in a better format after the first hurdle has been reach. Any hints to get over this period will be greatfully received. I would love to hear from you if you are over or under 60. Sophieteel
  21. Hi I only joined last night and wrote a message and cannot find it. Not sure how this site works. Can anyone assist please. I was hoping to find a response or two this morning. Regards Sophieteel
  22. Hi I have been thinking about gastric sleeve for a couple of years and in 15 days it will be a reality. I am getting nervious and think about it constantly. I have a really good supportive family and friends and have 3 friends at work who have had this procedure and are doing very well - they are my mentors. Even with all of this I am a bit scared. I am worried about the pain as I believe I have a low pain tolerance. How long are most of you in hospital and how long before you go back to work if you work. I work in an office so no lifting etc. I start the pre preparation tomorrow with the Optifast and vegetables - last week was my birthday and my sister gave me a present of High Tea with her not knowing that I had two weeks preparation. I did not know what to say. So I cannot do that. But otherwise I try to keep thinking positively. I have a gym membership and have a personal trainer - how soon can I get back to the gym? Do you keep a journal of what you eat. I thank you all for your answers. I admire you all for your journey you have taken. Cheers
