  1. I had my surgery on 8/14. I haven't lost any weight in over 2 weeks. I've been eating like I should. I'm getting really nervous.
  2. I was sleeves on 8/14/15 and have had 1 flare since then. My symptoms are significantly decreased already. So much so that my doctor and I decreased my Cymbalta dose from 120 mg to 60mg daily. I have really high hopes for the future:)
  3. Drinking alcohol 15 days post op is VERY dangerous. Alcohol is an irritant to the stomach,'so it might be painful. Your body may process a small quantity of alcohol, as if it was a very LARGE quantity after VSG. Please don't take the risk.
  4. I'm De'Ja Wrought on Facebook. I'd like to be added to the group too please!
  5. HI BETHC! The links won't open for me. I suppose it's because it's a secret group. Here is my facebook page. Would you add me to the group through fb? https://www.facebook.com/jessica.russellrossi Good luck to you too! Time will fly by and you'll be approved before you know it!
  6. We have the same surgery date!
  7. Hi Everyone! I've been an RN for 4 years now. Most of that time spent working Intermediate care, with one year in Oncology. I will be sleeved on August 7th, 2015. I looked at the calendar yesterday and realized my 2 week preop starts next Friday and I am freaking out just a little bit! I have a back injury that is really slowing me down and I'm hoping that loosing the weight will help. I'm really happy to have found this group!
  8. August 7th, 2015 here! I'm definitely getting nervous! Congratulations to my fellow August Sleevers! We can do this!
  9. I'm so frustrated!!! For my last weigh in (2 of 4) I gained weight. I was on a new medication and weight gain was one of the side effects. I'm trying to get back down to my first weigh in weight but I'm having such a hard time! I'm so afraid that I'll be denied. I called my insurance company to ask about their requirements and was told that there isn't a weight loss requirement, but a BMI of >40 is required. Which I have and then some, but I'm still nervous.
  10. Dr.Riley will be my surgeon. I've had a pretty good experience with with True Results this far. I'm glad to see that there are so many Houston ladies on this site!
  11. How far into your pre-op checklist are you? I have two weight loss visits left, an endoscopy, my PCP visit and then wait for insurance approval.
  12. I'm in Houston! I'm going through True Results. Everything has gone smoothly thus far, except for the fact that I've gained weight during my weight loss visits. How are things going for you?
  13. We're waiting for updates! I hope everything is going well!
  14. Thanks everyone:) I've already made my decision, I am going to go through with it. Knowing that it's major surgery makes me nervous, but I feel confident in the fact that I've done my research. This could change my life for the better, and I'm ready for that change. It will make be a better me overall, a better Nurse, a better Fiancé. My parents minds are set and can't be changed. As far as they are concerned my mother "did the research too, and look where she ended up." But I know that this is a COMPLETELY different surgery, in a different time, and my mother and I are different people. I really appreciate the encouragement and advice, thank you again!
  15. Hi all! I'm new here. I'm 24, 5"2 and weigh 267 pounds. Ive been researching VSG and other bariatric surgeries for some time now, and it looks like the Sleeve would be the best choice for me. My family is trying to talk me out of it based on the fact that my mother a lot of complications after her gastric in 2001. My dad says "You two have the same genes, you will have complications too and you will regret it." Part of me is afraid that I will regret my decision. I'd like to hear from as many people as possible that have had VSG! Do you have any regrets whatsoever? Any complications? Would you recommend it to other people? What advice would you give someone that's going to have it? Thank you in advance!
