  1. I just had my first fill. It was exactly the same. I sat up and drank till it went down. We had it at 5cc but the Dr. backed it up to 4cc to be safe for the first fill. I had a bit of a uncomfortable tight feeling for a few days, but it went away. I haven't had any problems with any foods I have tried and don't fill hungry.
  2. I was banded on May 13. I had my first fill on June 26. He had me hold my legs straight up and hold, hitting the mark first time. I held 5cc with it seemed no problem. My doctor backed it to 4cc to be safe for a first fill. For about the first 2 days I felt a tight feeling. Not really painful just a little uncomfortable. That feeling passed and I feel fine now. I could eat more than I am but I am trying to keep it at a low amount for fear of the PB's. I have been able to eat everything I have tried so far, without any problems.
  3. I was banded on the 13th. Everything went well. They did repair a Hiatal Hernia during my procedure. This did add some extra pain in the rib area but not to bad. The procedure was over before I knew it. I had to walk and eat ice chips till the next day, then the barrum swallow. After that was a go I was put on a clear liquid diet and started to get prepared to go home. Now I'm home, and all is well. Just trying to get in all of my liquid and protein can get a little rough but just keep pushing. Good luck on your banding!!!
  4. I was also banded on the 13th. I am having pain in my chest area like something stuck sort of. I hope this is just normal healing but I had a hernia repair also. As far as the full feeling, they told me I wouldn't have that feeling for several days due to the swelling. I can't get in all of my liquid either. Have you tried any of thw protein powders? I ad the benetein powder to my chicken broth so I at least get protein. Good Luck on your recovery.
  5. My surgery will be done at Deaconess Weight Loss center in Evansville, IN. I started going there on Jan 29,08. Any one else going to the same?
  6. :thumbup:Hello everyone. I haven't really posted in the group, spending most of my time reading the postings. So here we go. My name is Jennifer. I live in Owensboro, KY. I am 38 years old. I am a retirement community housing manager. I am married with 4 children (2 sons age 19, 13 - 1 stepson age 12 - 1 step daughter age 9). I am 5'8" and weigh 239. My first appt with the weight loss center I weighed in at 254.5. I have been overweight most of my life. I have lost the weight several times, but I always gain it back. I have spent the past year researching the Lapband, trying to decide if it is for me. I finally decided to go for it and do what I feel is right. I watch all of my elderly residents daily hurting from knees, hips, (and on and on). All of the things that go with being overweight. I have the opportunity to do something about it now & make the quality of life later so much better. I am being banded May 13. I am on the Optifast pprogram for pre surgery weight loss. I wish all of you great sucess and a speedy recovery.
  7. Congrats on surgery. I'm 10 days away from surgery. I hope it is over soon.
  8. Hi, Jennifer - I thought at first you were talking about me...LOL I am at a 39 BMI also. Tons of people are telling me not to have the surgery, that I am not HEAVY enough to have to do that. Like you, my back hurst, my knees kill me and I have no energy. I have lost all of my weight time and time again, but I always gain it back. Since I have had the time spans of being the correct BMI I know how my body and mind feel when I don't have all the extra weight on me. I have just began my lapband journey. I have to go to the classes & loss 13 pounds. Just being focused on this makes me feel better already, I know I am on my way. So when people tell me I am not big enough for lap band, I just smile and say "THANKS, my lapband journey must be working". Jennifer - Kentucky
  9. Thanks for the Paducah info, that helps. I'm sorry to hear about your experience. I hope everything is going well now. I'm sure everything will work out for the best no matter what you decide. Good luck to you and keep me posted as well.
  10. Is that where you have checked into Lap-Band? I may have to go there if my insurance wont allow out of state. Just wondering about the hospital there. I try not to think about what can go wrong. In any procedure it is possible to have trouble. I just try to out weigh the right things. My aunt had gastro bypass about 2 years ago. She looks great, and feels great. The way I feel now ( knees hurting, back hurting, etc) will not be missed. I have had many people try to discourage me from this but I have made up my mind that I want to feel good and feel good about myself, if this works GREAT, if not, I will try something else. You never know till you try.
  11. Jodi, I live in Owensboro. The closest place for lap-band is Evansville IN, or Paducah KY. My BMI is 37.1. I am not sure about the answers to your questions. I have just recently started doing Lap-Band research. I am waiting to see if my insurance will cover it. Where in KY do you live? Jenn
  12. Jodi I also live in western ky. I have started the process with deconess in Evansville, IN.
  13. Does anyone know how Kentucky BCBS covers? I have contacted the surgery center insurance specialist. She is checking into it for me now. My doctor went over my records and I have both the 6 months of weight loss Dr. visits (well over that) and about 19 years of being overweight with dr. records.
